More than half an hour later, Luo Xikui got out of the car and stared blankly at the building in front of her.
The architectural styles here are a unique mix, yet they blend together wonderfully.
Xu Ziyu led her inside, and all she could see were Romanesque main gates, Gothic spires, and Baroque altars...
The weight of history makes all of this appear majestic and solemn.
Especially the large spire, which stands tall and is surrounded by countless smaller spires and encircled by layers of beads, like a crown adorned with jewels, magnificent and dazzling.
Luo Xikui was led to a stop outside the tower, staring blankly at it, and pursed her lips: "Why did you bring me here?"
She already knew where she was; it wasn't her first time in Vienna, but she had little interest in sightseeing and focused on practicing the piano every day. However, she recognized the place—it was St. Stephen's Cathedral.
"Let's go in." Xu Ziyu gripped her hand tightly, their fingers intertwined.
Luo Xikui felt that in this solemn and sacred place, every step seemed to be taken with extra caution, as if they were performing some very important ceremony.
Her breathing slowed down, as if afraid of disturbing this sacredness.
The two walked along a long, narrow path and stood before the altar, surrounded by all sorts of sculptures and magnificent paintings.
Luo Xikui slowly withdrew her gaze from these scenes and looked at Xu Ziyu, who was holding her hands. An impulse was about to burst forth, and she tightened her grip on Xu Ziyu's hands in return.
Xu Ziyu looked down at their clasped hands, then slowly raised his eyes to meet her gaze.
“Ah Yu,” Luo Xi Kui swallowed, took a deep breath, and mustered her courage to say, “I…”
Xu Ziyu raised his hand and covered her mouth, saying in a deep voice, "Don't spoil the mood."
Luo Xikui swallowed her words and looked at him obediently and gently.
Xu Ziyu held her hand with one hand and put the other hand into his coat pocket.
Luo Xikui's heart pounded as she stared intently at his hand.
He wouldn't be going to...
Luo Xikui pursed her lips, and the moment his hand came out, before he could say anything, she eagerly hugged him, jumping up and down with joy, saying, "I do, I do!"
Xu Ziyu could only hug her back, smiling helplessly yet indulgently.
After a moment of joy, Luo Xikui released Xu Ziyu, held out her hand to him, and urged, "Hurry up and put it on for me."
Xu Ziyu held the velvet box in front of her, and she couldn't wait to open it first.
"So beautiful." Luo Xikui looked at the star-shaped diamond ring, her eyes shining as if they were filled with stars.
Xu Ziyu took the ring out of the box, and her finger couldn't wait to slip half of it through.
"Could you leave me a little bit of the nervousness of a proposal?" He shook his head and chuckled. He had never seen a woman so eager to get married.
"But I'm willing! Do you expect me to pretend to be hesitant and unwilling?" Luo Xikui felt that this was too difficult. She just wanted to marry him and had been waiting for this day for so long.
"Even if you're willing, there's no need to be in such a hurry. I'll have to put the ring on your finger eventually," Xu Ziyu said, both helpless and amused.
“That’s right.” Luo Xikui hurriedly withdrew her half-worn finger and put her hand back in his, looking at him with bright eyes: “Hurry up and put it on me.”
Xu Ziyu gently supported her hand with one hand, and with the other hand slipped the ring onto her upturned finger, slowly pushing it in.
After the ring was securely placed on her ring finger, Luo Xikui looked down at it, blinked, and a tear fell onto the diamond.
