After writing the note, Jing An'an opened the door and went out.
After leaving the hotel, I hailed a taxi.
As the car drove onto the road, she glanced out the window and saw Xiang Hengxi buying roasted sweet potatoes from a street vendor, stuffing them into his clothes, and running quickly towards the hotel with a smile on his face.
He was probably in such a hurry to get back that he didn't see her car pass by him.
Jing An'an saw the smile on his face very clearly, and suddenly felt something was off.
It seems like she took advantage of him and then found a way to dump him.
She's the one who's clearly at a disadvantage, but why can't she be assertive and righteous?
That sweet potato is so hot, won't it burn me if I put it in my clothes?
He's really stupid. Why did he put it in his clothes? It's okay if it gets a little cold, he can just eat it a little cold.
Jing An'an thought to herself, but she still felt uncomfortable.
"Miss, where to?" the driver asked.
“Let’s go back to the hotel we just stayed at,” Jing An’an blurted out.
"Huh?" The driver thought he had misheard.
Jing An'an then realized what she had said and immediately corrected herself: "Go to Yan'an Road."
"That's the suburbs," the driver reminded him.
"I know." She wanted to go back to the army, but was afraid her parents would ask about it when she got home.
When they returned to the military region, it was already past nine o'clock. Jing An'an went to Dr. Wang to get some ointment to reduce the swelling, and then went back to her dormitory.
After a lot of tidying up and fussing, I lay down on the bed around 10 o'clock. When I closed my eyes, all I could see was Xiang Hengxi running back with a silly grin, carrying sweet potatoes in his pocket.
He was clearly the annoying guy who tormented her during training, and he was so thick-skinned that he wasn't afraid of getting burned, so why did she feel like she had done something wrong?
He called her several times in the car just now, but she refused to answer them all out of guilt.
After seeing the note he wrote, he should have known that she left on her own, so why did he keep calling her?
Jing An'an felt incredibly annoyed. She had always been calm and rational in everything since she was a child, and this was the first time she had felt so flustered. This feeling was so unfamiliar that it frightened her.
Xiang Hengxi was indeed her nemesis, causing her to be in complete chaos.
Jing An'an slept very poorly that night, tossing and turning, her back ached and her legs felt weak. She didn't even know if she had really fallen asleep, and drifted off into a daze until dawn.
As soon as the morning exercise bell rang, she reflexively sat up, got dressed, washed up, and went to the training ground.
Then they realized that their recruits were not there, and that's when they remembered they had rested for the past two days.
Just as she was about to go back, a familiar voice shouted: "2918".
Jing An'an stiffened, not wanting to turn her head to face him.
"2918!" Xiang Hengxi shouted again.
“Here!” Jing An’an turned around and saluted him.
"Very good, you look quite energetic." Xiang Hengxi said this with a dark face.
Jing An'an could tell he was angry, very angry, but she didn't say anything.
"Since you're in such good spirits, run three laps around the track right now," Xiang Hengxi said coldly.
He ran back last night and saw the money and the note, but when he didn't see her, his joy vanished instantly, followed by worry about where she had gone.
But no matter how many times he called, she wouldn't answer. He was both angry and worried. Finally, he called the guard post at the military region's gate and confirmed that she had returned there, which put his mind at ease.
Seeing her now brings back that anger.
Actually, he wanted her to explain something about yesterday. If she spoke up, he wouldn't punish her by making her run around the playground.
But she was so stubborn; without saying a word, she just started running.
