Chapter 1717 Hengheng's Side Story 25: Obeying the Rules

Xiang Hengxi's heart, which had just relaxed a little, was raised again. He then waved his hand in front of her eyes, but she did not react at all.

He leaned down to look into her large, dark eyes, which were unfocused, dull, and simply staring blankly into space.

"Doctor!" Xiang Hengxi called out to the doctor next to him.

The doctor walked over, took out a small flashlight, bent down and used his fingers to pry open Jing An'an's eyelids. Her eyeballs didn't move at all, showing no fear of the light.

The doctor frowned and said, "Help her over here."

Xiang Hengxi simply picked her up again and followed the doctor to the CT room.

Jing An'an changed into a hospital gown, took off her shoes, and lay down.

After a long while, Xiang Hengxi and Jing An'an sat in the doctor's office.

Pointing to the picture, the doctor told Xiang Hengxi, "There is a small amount of blood accumulation around the optic nerve, which affects the eye's visibility and leads to blindness."

"What should we do? Do we need surgery?" Xiang Hengxi asked anxiously.

The doctor shook his head and said, "The situation is not that serious. I suggest conservative treatment first. Generally, once the blood stasis dissipates, the probability of spontaneous recovery of vision is as high as 90%."

"So there's still a 10% risk?" Xiang Hengxi didn't want to take that risk.

"Well, but the risks of open craniotomy are much greater. Let's observe for a month first," the doctor offered his professional assessment.

Xiang Hengxi frowned, while Jing An'an remained calm, as if she wasn't the one who was blind.

"You'll stay in the hospital tonight. We'll have another X-ray tomorrow to make sure you don't have nausea or dizziness before you can be discharged." The doctor wrote out the form and handed it to Xiang Hengxi.

Xiang Hengxi got up and went to hug Jing An'an again.

Jing An'an stood up first, pushed away his hand that was on her back, and groped her way forward on her own.

He tried to help her up, but she shook him off and stubbornly walked away on her own.

Xiang Hengxi had no choice but to stay by her side and help her avoid obstacles when she encountered them.

After taking her to the ward, he went to get the medicine, and the nurse followed him in to give Jing An'an the injection.

After Jing An'an lost her sight, she felt somewhat insecure, and clenched her other hand tightly while getting the injection.

Xiang Hengxi noticed her unease and placed his hand on hers.

She immediately pulled her hand away, and in the brief moment of their argument, the nurse had already inserted the needle.

After the nurse left, only Xiang Hengxi and Jing An'an remained in the room.

As Xiang Hengxi was pondering how to apologize, Jing An'an spoke first: "You can leave now. I don't want to see you."

“You can’t see me anyway,” Xiang Hengxi replied reflexively, though there was a hint of joking in his words.

"Isn't it your fault that I can't see?!" Jing An'an was furious with him again; this man was more shameless than she had ever imagined.

"If you felt physically unable to do the inverted rappelling at that time, you could have told me." Xiang Hengxi just wanted her to talk to him.

"If it weren't for you, how could my health be so poor!" Jing An'an suddenly felt weak in the legs, waist, and arms because he had made her run and do push-ups without any restraint.

"You're willing to bring that up now?" Xiang Hengxi raised an eyebrow.

"..." Jing An'an pursed her lips into a clamshell shape again.

Xiang Hengxi wasn't going to let this opportunity slip by. He forcefully grabbed one of her hands, held it in his palm, and asked, "Why did you send me away last night? And what was the meaning of that 520 yuan?"

Jing An'an couldn't free her hands, so she turned her head away, still feeling resentful, and said, "It means we're even. I hope you'll abide by the rules of the adult world and not bring this up again."
