When Ni Sitian arrived at the Regent Hotel, the receptionist told her that Mr. Shen had already left, and that he had left with a woman.
Her face turned pale instantly. It was the middle of the night. Where would Shen Muzhi take Xiang Zhilan? And what were they going to do?
She had absolutely no clue and no idea where to begin.
My stomach is aching slightly again, which is very uncomfortable.
"Young Madam, where are we going now?" Xiao Zhang asked, turning his head as he drove.
Ni Sitian pursed her lips, considered for a moment, and then sighed helplessly, "Let's go home."
After returning home, Ni Sitian's stomach pain became more and more obvious. Thinking that her period was about to start, she put on a sanitary napkin, poured a glass of hot water, and swallowed a painkiller.
I lay on the sofa for a while before I recovered. Just as I was about to get up and go back to my room, the phone rang in the living room.
She reached out and picked it up, saw that it was an overseas call, hesitated for a moment, and then pressed answer.
"Hello." Her voice sounded tired, partly because she had too much to do that day, and partly because her stomach was still aching slightly.
The moment Xu Tingchuan heard her voice, his brows finally relaxed.
After being hung up on in the afternoon, he tried calling again, but Ni Sitian's phone remained unreachable despite several attempts.
"Are you still angry?" He had been in meetings for several hours straight since arriving in Los Angeles, and had only just arrived at the hotel. He hadn't even sat down to catch his breath before calling her.
When Ni Sitian heard this, she was stunned for a moment, and then she realized that her phone had run out of battery that afternoon, and he might have misunderstood that she was angry and hung up on him.
She felt it necessary to explain to avoid any misunderstandings, so she pursed her lips and said, "I'm not angry with you, my phone just died."
"Sitian, I've already called Muzhi about Xiang Zhilan's matter, so don't worry." Xu Tingchuan called Shen Muzhi immediately after landing in Los Angeles.
"Mm." Ni Sitian breathed a sigh of relief, a slight smile curving her lips as she softly said, "Thank you."
After she finished speaking, Xu Tingchuan didn't say anything more, and the two of them suddenly fell silent.
This "thank you" felt somewhat distant, unlike her affectionate and frank words to him that afternoon, telling him he was great. She said she wasn't angry, but she was probably still a little resentful inside.
Xu Tingchuan pursed his lips, unsure how to coax her. He was not good at apologizing or comforting girls.
Ni Sitian realized that her words had been a bit too polite and distant, and felt the silence was somewhat awkward, so she changed the subject: "What time is it where you are?"
"It's two o'clock in the afternoon. It should be ten o'clock there, right?" Xu Tingchuan glanced at his watch and said to Ni Sitian.
Ni Sitian glanced at the wall clock and softly replied, "Mm."
The two fell into silence again. This time, Xu Tingchuan started a conversation: "What was that sentence you said on the phone earlier?"
"Hmm?" Ni Sitian asked in a nasal voice, sounding puzzled.
"I didn't quite hear what you said when my plane was taking off," Xu Tingchuan reminded him.
Ni Sitian remembered; it was what she had said on the phone this afternoon—that she had missed him a little.
"Sitian?" Xu Tingchuan called her name when he didn't hear her answer.
Ni Sitian came to her senses and didn't know what to say. She was in the wrong mood and couldn't bring herself to say it, but she couldn't find any words to brush him off, so she fell silent again.
Xu Tingchuan didn't press her any further. He sighed softly and said, "It's late. Go to sleep early and don't kick off the covers."
"Well, don't work too hard," Ni Sitian said softly, pursing her lips.
