Chapter 238 The Flight Home

There was originally a signing ceremony scheduled for 3:30 pm, but when Assistant Yu saw Xu Tingchuan's expression, he didn't dare to delay any longer and booked a flight for 3 pm directly.

Xu Tingchuan didn't pack any luggage, only his passport and ID card, and went straight to the airport, leaving his assistant Yu to handle the aftermath.

On the way to the airport, Xu Tingchuan called Xu Jiayue, but couldn't get through, so he called Jin Rulan instead.

"Mom, Sitian is having surgery at the city hospital right now." Xu Tingchuan's voice was urgent. "I'm already on my way back. Could you go and take care of her for me?"

This was the first time Jin Rulan had heard her son's voice so panicked. She had just fallen asleep when she immediately woke up, threw off the covers, and got out of bed.

"Okay, I'll go check on it now. Calm down and be careful on the way." Jin Rulan didn't say anything more. After giving the instructions, she changed her clothes and rushed to the city hospital.

Xu Tingchuan arrived at the airport and waited for more than twenty minutes before boarding the plane.

For Xu Tingchuan, sitting on the plane for more than ten hours was undoubtedly an ordeal.

Although he knew that appendicitis was not a major surgery and that it was unlikely to be life-threatening, he was still very scared. His heart started to race, and he wished he could fly to Ni Sitian's side immediately.

When Ni Sitian told him she wasn't feeling well, he should have been more alert. Why didn't he ask her more questions then?

Annoyance and regret overwhelmed him, and he clenched his fists tightly.

He didn't sleep or eat during the more than ten-hour flight, and remained tense the entire time. When the plane landed, his eyes were bloodshot.

When he left the airport, it was not yet six o'clock. The sun was only peeking out from behind the clouds, and the sky was overcast.

After getting in the car, we headed straight for the city hospital.

The lights were dim in the hospital's inpatient corridor as Xu Tingchuan hurried toward Ni Sitian's ward.

Upon approaching, I saw Qin Mubei sitting alone on a bench in the corridor.

He stopped in his tracks.

Qin Mubei looked up and was somewhat surprised to see Xu Tingchuan standing in front of him.

The person who was in the United States just over ten hours ago suddenly appeared in front of him.

"You're back. You've been quick." Qin Mubei stood up, looked at Xu Tingchuan, and said, "She came out of the operating room at 10:30 last night and hasn't woken up yet. The anesthesia will wear off quickly. She'll probably be in a lot of pain when she wakes up. The doctor instructed her to keep her hands flat for now and not to let her pull on the wound. She can't eat or drink too much water after she wakes up, as it will be inconvenient for her to go to the toilet."

As Xu Tingchuan listened to Qin Mubei recount everything about Ni Sitian, a layer of frost settled in his eyes.

"Mr. Qin, thank you for last night." Xu Tingchuan calmly and composedly thanked Qin Mubei.

Qin Mubei noticed Xu Tingchuan's displeasure and realized that he had said a bit too much.

Ni Sitian is already Xu Tingchuan's wife, so it's not his place to care about her.

But last night, watching her being wheeled out of the operating room, his heart clenched with worry.

Later, Ni Sitian's mother-in-law came to keep watch at night.

He should have left then, but he wanted to wait for her to wake up before leaving.

He sat there outside the ward all night.

Now that Xu Tingchuan has arrived, he has absolutely no reason to stay any longer.

"Take good care of her." After saying this, Qin Mubei took a step to walk past Xu Tingchuan.

Xu Tingchuan clenched his fist, looked at Qin Mubei, and said in a deep voice, "She is my wife, I know what to do."

"I hope so." Qin Mubei walked outside.

Xu Tingchuan withdrew his gaze and turned to open the door to the ward.
