Chapter 242 Anxiety and Dilemma

Ni Sitian's coquettish voice was soft and weak, making him reluctant to refuse her.

Xu Tingchuan chuckled helplessly, patted her head, and saw her blinking and staring at him, which softened his heart.

After hesitating for a moment, he took off his shoes and lay down beside her. To avoid touching her wound, he tried to lie on his side, gently placing his hand on her shoulder and giving her a light embrace.

Ni Sitian tilted her head and pressed her cheek against his chest.

Xu Tingchuan lowered his head and kissed the crown of her head, then held her small hand and whispered, "Sleep."

"Mmm." Ni Sitian closed her eyes.

Seeing that she was asleep, Xu Tingchuan closed his eyes as well.

He hadn't slept for a day and a night since yesterday, and his body was exhausted. After closing his eyes, he fell asleep very quickly.

Ni Sitian, however, was not sleepy. Her wound was still hurting, and she had slept for so long before, so she couldn't fall asleep at all.

She had just been trying to coax Xu Tingchuan to sleep. She could tell he was exhausted, but if she didn't sleep, he would definitely force himself to stay up and keep her company.

That's why she pretended to close her eyes first, and only opened them after she heard his breathing become steady.

The morning light streamed through the blinds, falling on his face. She looked at his stubble and faint dark circles under his eyes, and felt a pang of heartache.

However, even with his unkempt appearance, he was still very handsome, like a down-on-his-luck nobleman.

Looking at his sleeping face, Ni Sitian felt a surge of tenderness in her heart.

What should I do? It seems she's fallen for him without even realizing it.

He was right beside her, and she still felt like she couldn't get enough of looking at him. His eyebrows, eyes, high nose, and thin lips were all very attractive to her.

It would be hard not to like a man that handsome.

Zhi Lan is right, Xu Tingchuan is a man who is particularly easy to like.

She simply couldn't find a reason not to like him.

“Xu Tingchuan…” Ni Sitian leaned against his chest and murmured, “Thank you for coming back.”

She was really scared when she had the surgery, thinking that he was far away in the United States and couldn't be with her, and she felt really lonely.

She never expected that when she opened her eyes, she would see him back by her side. She was so moved that she couldn't express it in words.

Ni Sitian grasped his hand in return, lost in thought, a sweet feeling welling up inside her.

Although I wasn't sleepy, I eventually drifted off to sleep.

When I woke up again, it was already broad daylight, and the sun was shining warmly in.

Ni Sitian was blinded by the sunlight. When she opened her eyes, she found that she was alone in the hospital bed.

"Tingchuan..." she called out in a low, hoarse voice, her throat dry.

There was no response for a while, and when I looked around the ward, there was no trace of him having been there.

Was she dreaming all of this?

Ni Sitian lowered her eyes somewhat forlornly, pursed her dry lips, and stared blankly into space.

At that moment, the ward door was pushed open, and Ni Sitian immediately turned her head to look happily.

Xu Jiayue was seen carrying some things when she pushed open the door and came in.

The excited light in her eyes slowly faded.

"So disappointed? Are you waiting for my brother?" Xu Jiayue walked in, put down her luggage, and teased Ni Sitian.

Ni Sitian blushed slightly at her words and retorted softly, "No way."

Xu Jiayue smiled, ignoring her rebuttal, and continued, "My brother just went to the doctor."

Ni Sitian's lips curled up involuntarily, and she was secretly delighted. It wasn't a dream after all; he really had come back to see her.
