Xu Tingchuan kept his eyes on the road ahead, focused on driving, and casually asked, "When did you apply for your passport?"
Ni Sitian snapped out of her daze, a little embarrassed, her cheeks flushing slightly: "It was the second day after you went to America. I was planning to get my passport and go to America..."
Although she didn't finish her sentence, Xu Tingchuan understood what she meant: she wanted to go to America to find him.
It turns out he wasn't the only one missing her; she had even considered dropping out of her job to go find him while she was still an intern.
This realization was like a boulder thrown into Xu Tingchuan's heart, causing a great stir.
He gripped the steering wheel tightly with one hand and reached out with the other to hold Ni Sitian's hand, which was resting on her knees.
Although her planned trip to the United States did not materialize, Xu Tingchuan felt that she had gone.
As long as she had that thought, she had already gone.
"Drive carefully." Ni Sitian was very shy because she had frankly revealed her original plan, and wanted to pull her hand away.
If he knew that she hadn't seen him for only one day, she would want to travel thousands of miles to find him, making it seem as if she liked him so much.
Xu Tingchuan smiled faintly, withdrew his hand, and continued driving.
After the two received their passports and left the police station, Xu Tingchuan asked Ni Sitian, "Now that we have passports, let's find some time to travel together."
"Just say it's a honeymoon, why make it sound so euphemistic?" Ni Sitian muttered, pouting.
"What did you say?" Xu Tingchuan didn't hear clearly and looked down at her.
Ni Sitian shook her head and said obediently, "I'm just thinking about where to go."
"Just go wherever you want to go." Xu Tingchuan has traveled extensively for work over the years and seen countless beautiful landscapes. For him, the significance of this trip is Ni Sitian. As long as she is happy, that's all that matters.
"There are so many places I want to go." Ni Sitian had never even left Jiangtian Province, so she was naturally very curious about the outside world. She listed them off: "I want to go to Antarctica to see penguins, I want to go to Paris to see The Phantom of the Opera, I want to see the pyramids in Egypt, I want to see elephants in Africa..."
Xu Tingchuan listened with a faint smile as she listed the places she wanted to go. After counting down about ten, he took her hand and said, "How about we go to two or three places every year, and when we retire, we can take a round-the-world trip to revisit the places we've been to?"
This sounds wonderful and inspiring; they could spend their entire lives leaving their mark all over the world.
"Mmm." Ni Sitian nodded emphatically, holding his hand tightly, wanting to never let go for the rest of her life.
"Mrs. Xu, have you decided where you want to go this year?" Xu Tingchuan asked with a slight smile.
“Going to Hainan? It’s been so cold lately. I heard it’s warm and spring-like there right now,” Ni Sitian said with a smile, looking up.
Xu Tingchuan laughed out loud. She had just mentioned so many faraway places, but it turned out she only wanted to go to Hainan.
That's good, though, because it saves time from flying to and from the destination, allowing for more days of travel.
"Okay, let's go at the beginning of next month." Xu Tingchuan patted Ni Sitian's head.
Her smile grew even brighter, and she even started planning what to bring, her enthusiasm running high.
Upon reaching the parking area, the two got into the car, and Xu Tingchuan suddenly frowned.
"What's wrong?" Ni Sitian looked at him curiously when she saw that he wasn't moving.
Xu Tingchuan relaxed his brow and shook his head. He didn't know what was wrong, but his heart had suddenly skipped a few beats.
