"I'm so sorry everyone that day, I spoiled everyone's fun."
After the dishes were served, Fu Wenuan stood up, raised her wine glass, and apologized to everyone.
Everyone raised their glasses and clinked them together. When Fu Wenwen was about to drink, Gu Chen took the glass from her hand and said in a low voice, "You've just finished drinking, let me drink it."
Fu Wenwen smiled at him, accepted his kindness, and nodded.
Ni Sitian also raised her hand to stop Xu Tingchuan from raising his glass to drink, and leaned close to his ear, "You still have to drive, let me drink for you."
"Tsk tsk, you four are really something else. Consider how Jia Yue and I, two lonely souls, feel," Pei Yang said, taking a sip of his drink and raising his long eyebrows slightly.
Ni Sitian was a little embarrassed by what was said. Xu Tingchuan smiled slightly and said to Pei Yang, "She wanted to drink it herself."
“I’m not that greedy,” Ni Sitian pouted and retorted.
Xu Tingchuan raised his hand and affectionately pinched her nose.
Pei Yang shuddered. Was this still the aloof Xu Tingchuan he knew?
"Jiayue, come on, let's have a toast together, we're both single." Pei Yang turned around, raised his glass, and said to Xu Jiayue with a smile.
"Fine, I'll drink it." Xu Jiayue didn't hesitate at all, and simply wrapped her arm around Pei Yang's arm.
Both of them readily raised their glasses, tilted their heads back, and drank them down in one gulp.
Ni Sitian's gaze swept back and forth between Pei Yang and Xu Jiayue, and the more she looked at them, the more she felt they were a perfect match. She couldn't help but tug at Xu Tingchuan, signaling him to look over as well.
Xu Tingchuan chuckled helplessly and shook his head at Ni Sitian.
Not long after drinking, Xu Jiayue got up and went out.
There was a restroom in the private room, but Xu Jiayue went outside. Ni Sitian was worried that she was still sad and upset about Gu Chen, so she followed her out.
Sure enough, Xu Jiayue was seen standing on the balcony enjoying the wind. The weather at the end of December was already bitterly cold, and the wind was even more fierce at night.
Ni Sitian walked over quickly, wanting to persuade Xu Jiayue to go inside.
Xu Jiayue looked up at the sky and smiled, then suddenly said, "Sitian, do you know, I haven't felt this relaxed in a very, very long time."
Ni Sitian paused for a moment, then looked at Xu Jiayue with concern.
“It turns out that the burden of unrequited love is so heavy,” Xu Jiayue looked at the sky, let out a long sigh, and said, “In fact, it has long been too heavy to bear, and it has long since made me lose the joy of liking someone. It’s just that my obsession has blinded me.”
“Jiayue…” Ni Sitian didn’t know how to comfort her, so she raised her hand and gently patted her back.
Xu Jiayue withdrew her gaze, turned her head to look at Ni Sitian, raised the corners of her mouth, and smiled brightly: "Don't worry, I have decided to let go of my obsession. Wen Nuan came to see me yesterday and apologized to me on behalf of Gu Chen."
Actually, Fu Wennuan didn't need to say anything; she understood Gu Chen's intention as soon as she ran out of the hospital.
She's come to terms with it these past few days. The reason she couldn't let go before was because she hadn't witnessed Gu Chen's feelings for Fu Wenwen firsthand.
That day, when she told Gu Chen that Fu Wenuan had fainted at the hot spring, she saw Gu Chen's panicked expression for the first time.
At that time, she knew she had to let go; her one-sided love was just a one-woman show.
“Wen Nuan is a good girl.” Xu Jiayue looked at Ni Sitian and smiled with relief: “But I didn’t lose to her. I lost to Gu Chen. Gu Chen’s love and hate are so clear-cut, he doesn’t allow any ambiguity. I’m convinced of my defeat.”
Hearing Xu Jiayue's sense of relief, Ni Sitian smiled faintly: "At least you can be glad that the first man you liked was a good man. Although you didn't get him, at least it wasn't a bad memory."
“That makes sense, let’s go inside.” Xu Jiayue smiled, took Ni Sitian’s arm, and went out onto the balcony.
