Ni Sitian grabbed his wrist, pursed her lips, and awkwardly uttered two words: "Countdown."
Xu Tingchuan paused for a moment, then a smile crept onto his lips, his eyes shining as if they were filled with stars. "You came up here because you wanted to count down with me?"
Ni Sitian didn't admit it, and glanced at the time; there were less than two minutes left.
She turned and went into the house, took out the bag containing the scarf, and walked back to his side.
"What's this?" Xu Tingchuan looked at the bag in confusion.
Ni Sitian handed him the bag with both hands, lowered her head, and awkwardly whispered, "New Year's gift."
Xu Tingchuan took the bag and took out the contents, which was a gray-blue plaid cashmere scarf.
He remembered that when she came in the morning, she was wearing the same pink and white checkered cashmere scarf.
"A gift for me?" His eyes slowly filled with joy.
Ni Sitian nodded, not wanting to admit that she had bought it specifically for him, and deliberately said, "The sales assistant said that buying two would get me a 20% discount, so I..."
Before she could finish speaking, Xu Tingchuan pulled her into a tight embrace. She fell silent, her heart pounding as he did.
"Thank you." Xu Tingchuan's low, husky voice couldn't hide his joy.
Ni Sitian was very happy that he liked her gift, and smiled slightly, the pain of the price had completely disappeared.
"Can you help me put it on?" Xu Tingchuan let go of Ni Sitian and stuffed the scarf into her hand.
"Why are you wearing this so late at night?" Ni Sitian grumbled with a smile, but her body was very obedient. She stood on tiptoe, raised her hand, and wrapped the scarf around the back of his neck, helping him to put it on.
After she finished wrapping it up, she looked up at him and saw that it suited him perfectly. He was incredibly handsome, and his smiling eyes shone brightly.
She was captivated by his good looks, grabbed both sides of his scarf with her hands, and pulled hard.
At the same time, she tiptoed and pressed her lips against his.
Xu Tingchuan was slightly taken aback, but quickly reacted, grabbed her waist, and took the initiative in the kiss.
The clock struck midnight in the distance, and Ni Sitian was lost in the tobacco-scented kiss.
As the final bells rang, a magnificent display of fireworks burst brilliantly in the night sky.
The glow of the fireworks illuminated their embrace.
After a long, long time, the fireworks stopped, and Ni Sitian leaned against him, her legs weak.
After the noise subsided, it became exceptionally quiet, so quiet that they could all hear each other's heartbeats.
"Ni Sitian." Xu Tingchuan called her name softly, brushed aside her long hair, and said in a husky and magnetic voice, "Thank you."
"No need to thank me," Ni Sitian muttered in a low voice.
It's just a wife buying her husband a scarf; there's nothing to be grateful for, especially since she receives much better and more expensive gifts from him. She should reciprocate occasionally.
"Thank you for marrying me back then." Xu Tingchuan couldn't imagine what their situation would be like now if Ni Sitian hadn't called again. Maybe they would still be two strangers passing by on the street.
Upon hearing his words, Ni Sitian's lips curled up slightly. She raised her hand to wrap around Xu Tingchuan's waist and said softly, "Mr. Xu, thank you for being willing to marry me back then."
Regardless of whether the mistake of recognizing someone was a fluke or intentional, they should just be grateful for it now.
Fortunately, they met at the perfect time.
