Xiang Zhilan walked into the study and saw Shen Muzhi sitting with his back to her in a leather chair, only a small part of the back of his head showing.
She tiptoed over and placed the tray on the table.
Just as she was hesitating about how to start the conversation, Shen Muzhi said first, "Go and help Miss Xiang put away Jinji's things."
Xiang Zhilan was taken aback, thinking that he probably thought it was Butler Chen who came in.
She pursed her lips and said softly, "Mr. Shen, it's me."
Upon hearing the sound, Shen Muzhi frowned slightly, slowly turned his chair around, raised his eyes, and looked at her with a cold gaze.
Xiang Zhilan met his dark eyes, bit her lip, took a breath, and said sincerely, "I misunderstood Mr. Shen about what happened last time. I'm sorry."
Shen Muzhi remained silent, quietly observing the woman before him.
Jinji had already left, and it seemed there was no need for her to stay, but he couldn't bring himself to tell her to leave.
Seeing his silence, Xiang Zhilan had nothing more to say to him. She had always been clear about her likes and dislikes. He slapped her, and she punched him back. She had wronged him, so she apologized.
"If Mr. Shen has nothing else to say, I'll be leaving now." Xiang Zhilan said, nodding politely, and turned to head towards the door.
"Add another year," Shen Muzhi blurted out as he watched her retreating figure.
Xiang Zhilan stopped in her tracks and turned around to look at Shen Muzhi with a puzzled expression.
"Add another year, stay by my side." Shen Muzhi didn't know why he suddenly said these words, but his mouth just blurted them out before his brain could process them.
Upon hearing this, Xiang Zhilan opened her mouth slightly in surprise. She wondered if she had misheard. Did he want to keep her as his mistress for another year?
Does he have masochistic tendencies? He was punched by her, yet he still wants to keep her by his side. Isn't he afraid she'll get up in the middle of the night and strangle him?
Xiang Zhilan slowly came to her senses, suppressed her surprise, looked at Shen Muzhi, and carefully chose her words: "I am very grateful for Mr. Shen's favor, but I want to return to a normal life."
She bought a house last year, but because of her relationship with Shen Muzhi, she hasn't worked for three months. She wants to end the agreement here and then look for a job again.
She also wants to develop a deeper relationship with Feng Jingxian. Although there is no physical relationship between Shen Muzhi and Feng Jingxian, she always feels that it is unfair to Feng Jingxian, so she has not officially agreed to be Feng Jingxian's girlfriend yet.
Now that she only has six days left, she can leave this villa and do whatever she wants. She'd be a fool to agree to stay here any longer.
"What conditions do you want for me to stay?" Shen Muzhi looked at her barely concealed happiness as her deadline approached, and his hand unconsciously tightened around the armrest.
Xiang Zhilan smiled faintly and shook her head. "I don't want anything, I just want freedom."
She didn't want to be controlled anymore, didn't want to be controlled even when she went out, and didn't want her hair to be done according to other people's wishes.
She had had enough of that kind of life and only hoped that after leaving here, she would have nothing to do with Shen Muzhi anymore.
"Are you really that sure?" Shen Muzhi looked at the faint smile on her lips, his gaze darkening.
The woman told him not to leave the night before last, but now she's so happy to leave. Is she playing hard to get?
"Yes, absolutely certain." Xiang Zhilan nodded seriously, then turned and strode out.
Several finger marks had already been left on Shen Muzhi's armrest. He took a deep breath and slowly exhaled.
Well, a substitute is just a substitute after all. Why should he keep her around?
