In the afternoon, Ni Sitian had a long class. After eating lunch alone, she went to school.
As soon as she sat down, a classmate came over to gossip with her: "Have you heard? Zhao Jiajia got a major demerit."
Ni Sitian was a little surprised. Zhao Jiajia's matter was neither a big deal nor a small one; it all depended on how the school wanted to handle it.
Especially for senior students who are currently looking for internships, the school usually doesn't give punishments easily, so how did they suddenly get a major demerit?
"She deserves it. She looks gentle and weak on the surface, but who knows how many rumors she's spread and caused behind people's backs. She even goes after her roommates. She's a real green tea bitch." The classmate said indignantly on Ni Sitian's behalf.
Ni Sitian didn't respond. She disliked Zhao Jiajia, but this matter was over. She didn't want to kick her while she was down, nor would she pretend to forgive her.
At this moment, Zhao Jiajia walked in with a pale face. Everyone else seemed to stay away from her and quickly dispersed, not daring to sit next to her. Even Li Xin, who was always her best friend, sat far away from her.
A group of people surrounded Ni Sitian, pointing and whispering about Zhao Jiajia, seemingly hoping that she would come forward to criticize Zhao Jiajia so that they could have a legitimate reason to condemn her.
However, Ni Sitian had no interest in this topic. She opened her textbook and quietly began to read.
Seeing this, the other students realized there was no good show to watch and returned to their seats.
After finishing the large lecture, Li Xin walked over to Ni Sitian and knocked on her desk.
Ni Sitian looked up and saw that her expression was a little awkward and she was stammering, so she raised her eyebrows in confusion.
"I heard from the director that the quota issue was a misunderstanding. I apologize for my bad attitude these past few days." Li Xin took a deep breath and said awkwardly and quickly.
Ni Sitian was slightly surprised. Her mother-in-law had gotten involved in this matter, so she wasn't entirely innocent either. She wondered what the director had said to Li Xin, but it seemed he had completely cleared her of any involvement.
"I hope you won't take my impulsive and harsh words to heart. It was all Zhao Jiajia's doing, stirring things up behind the scenes. I..."
“It’s all in the past.” Ni Sitian interrupted Li Xin with a nonchalant expression. She wasn’t interested in how Zhao Jiajia had tried to sow discord. Anyway, she and Li Xin weren’t really friends. True friends wouldn’t be provoked by such a simple few words.
Li Xin wanted to say a few more words, but seeing Yu Mingliang approaching, she awkwardly left first.
When Ni Sitian saw Yu Mingliang, a faint smile appeared on her lips. She was just about to thank him for the technical post.
"Sitian, let's go eat together." Yu Mingliang took a breath and mustered up his courage to invite Ni Sitian directly.
“Okay.” Ni Sitian was just thinking of treating him to a meal as a way of thanking him, so she didn’t think too much about it.
When Yu Mingliang saw that she had agreed, he happily reached out to help her carry her schoolbag.
Ni Sitian's hand was touched by his fingertips. She looked up at him and immediately felt something was off. His gaze was too intense, and even she, who was slow to notice, could see the emotions it contained.
"I'll carry it myself." She grabbed her backpack and stepped back.
Yu Mingliang withdrew his hand somewhat awkwardly, but quickly recovered and smiled at her: "What do you like to eat?"
Ni Sitian had a bad feeling. She had already agreed to have dinner with him, and now it was hard to refuse. Judging from his expression, he probably misunderstood something. She had to find a way to let him know quickly.
But he didn't confess his feelings to her, and rejecting her without a reason would make him seem presumptuous.
"Do you eat spicy food? Would you mind going to Ximen for boiled live fish?" An idea flashed through her mind, and she asked him with a faint smile.
Yu Mingliang had arranged to have dinner alone with Ni Sitian, so he didn't care what they ate and readily agreed.
