Xu Tingchuan got home close to nine o'clock. After negotiating with his partners that afternoon, the new project was about to officially launch, and he would be very busy for the next month.
He opened the door and saw that the wall lamp in the entryway was on. Usually, when he came home late, Ni Sitian would leave the light on for him after she had gone to bed. But today, it wasn't even nine o'clock yet, and she was already asleep.
At this time of day, isn't she usually watching TV or writing and drawing in her study?
Xu Tingchuan changed into slippers, took off his suit jacket, and walked into the bedroom while loosening his tie. He turned on a small lamp and saw Ni Sitian lying on her side with her back to him, her little bundle of blankets looking quite adorable.
"Sitian?" Xu Tingchuan called out softly, but received no response.
After confirming that she was asleep, he grabbed his pajamas, tiptoed out of the bedroom, and went to the bathroom to wash up.
After showering, he went to the study to handle some new project matters. He was supposed to be busy at the company until 11 o'clock today, but he missed her so much that he came back early to see her, only to find that she was already asleep.
Xu Tingchuan was busy in his study until almost midnight. He turned off his computer, got up, and went back to the bedroom. He saw Ni Sitian still in the same position and couldn't help but chuckle and shake his head helplessly. He had tried to correct her bad sleeping posture many times without success.
But now, whenever he lies down next to her, she will let go of the pillow, turn around, and hug him while she sleeps.
But today things didn't go as he expected. He had been lying in bed for several minutes, and she showed no sign of turning over.
He had no choice but to reach out and pull her into his arms, but she remained in that position, lying like that. Wouldn't her left side go numb?
"Sitian," Xu Tingchuan called softly, wanting her to know he was back.
However, the only response he received was a sleepy whimper from Ni Sitian, who seemed very tired and didn't want to be disturbed.
Seeing that she was really asleep and didn't want to move, Xu Tingchuan didn't force her to turn over. He turned off the bedside lamp, put his arm around her, and let her sleep with her back against his chest.
In the darkness, Ni Sitian slowly opened her eyes, turned around, hugged his waist, and adjusted to a comfortable position.
She didn't dare turn around because the lights were on. She didn't want Xu Tingchuan to see her swollen cheeks. He already had a lot to worry about lately, and she didn't want to cause him any more trouble.
Xu Tingchuan was already in a light sleep, but he still felt Ni Sitian turn around and hug him. He naturally lowered his head and kissed the center of her hair, then embraced her and fell into a deep sleep.
The next morning, fearing that Xu Tingchuan would wake up and find out, Ni Sitian got up early and made breakfast, which she then placed on the table.
As she was squatting in the entryway changing her shoes, she heard Xu Tingchuan's slightly lazy voice: "So early today?"
Ni Sitian paused in tying her shoelaces, then replied softly, "Okay, I'm going for my morning exercise."
Xu Tingchuan walked over and glanced at the wall clock in the living room. It was only 6:30. She always loved to sleep in, so when did she become so diligent about morning exercise?
"I'm going out." Afraid that he would come over and see her, Ni Sitian didn't turn her head and stood up to open the door.
Xu Tingchuan walked over quickly and pulled Ni Sitian's wrist.
Ni Sitian froze, thinking she was about to be discovered. She lowered her head and used her long black hair to cover her face.
"Your shoelaces aren't even tied properly," Xu Tingchuan said, both helpless and indulgent.
He then squatted down, knelt on one knee, and bent down to tie her shoelaces.
