Upon hearing this, Shen Muzhi's expression tightened.
Seeing that she didn't speak, Xiang Zhilan became even more convinced that he was just being manipulative. He said coldly, "Shen Muzhi, I hope you understand that I am marrying you, not selling myself to you. Don't treat me as your private property. I have my own will, and I will decide for myself what to do and when to do it."
After saying this, Xiang Zhilan turned and walked out of the study with a brisk pace.
She ran into Butler Chen outside the study; he hurried past with his head down.
Butler Chen carried a stack of books into the study, put them down, and said somewhat anxiously, "Sir, why don't you explain this to Madam?"
"What's there to explain? She's already judged me." Shen Muzhi lowered his eyes and continued reading.
Butler Chen sighed inwardly, thinking that if his master didn't change his temper, he would eventually ruin himself.
What's the point of someone quietly reading so many books on prenatal care when their wife has no idea?
"Go out," Shen Mu said calmly without even looking up.
Butler Chen had no choice but to turn around. Just as he was about to leave the room, he heard Shen Muzhi's voice from behind him: "Remember to watch her finish drinking."
"Yes." Butler Chen left the study and closed the door behind him.
When I got downstairs, I saw Xiang Zhilan talking to Afang in the living room, and the bowl of white fungus and citrus soup on the table was untouched.
Butler Chen walked over and said to Xiang Zhilan, "Madam, it's time to drink your soup."
Xiang Zhilan frowned slightly. She was already back. Did he still have to control whether she drank the soup or not? Besides, she didn't like the taste of white fungus.
“Madam, this is a kind gesture from the master.” Seeing that Xiang Zhilan had a deep misunderstanding of Shen Muzhi, Butler Chen couldn’t help but explain on his behalf: “The master read the health care manual and knew that drinking this soup at this time would be best for you, so he asked A-Chao to call you back. He did not want to control your whereabouts.”
Xiang Zhilan paused for a moment, then asked in surprise, "What kind of health regimen manual?"
"It's a book about dietary adjustments for underweight pregnant women," Butler Chen explained in detail, adding, "Sir has been reading this book all afternoon."
Xiang Zhilan couldn't believe that the person Chen was talking about was Shen Muzhi. How could he do something so thoughtful?
But seeing Butler Chen's serious expression, she wavered. She had just entered the study and Shen Muzhi was reading. Could it be those books he was reading?
“Madam, your husband just doesn’t know how to express it. He actually cares about you a lot,” Butler Chen added.
"Yes, the master specifically instructed us to add anti-slip strips to any potentially slippery areas," Afang chimed in. Adding anti-slip strips was simply to prevent her pregnant wife from tripping and falling.
Xiang Zhilan pursed her lips, remained silent for a while, walked to the dining table, sat down, and picked up the bowl of white fungus and citrus soup to drink.
It has to be said, she really hates the taste of white fungus.
But since it's for the child's good, she will try her best to do it.
Shen Muzhi did so much for the good of this child. He, as a father, did so much, so she had no reason to lose to him.
When Butler Chen saw that Xiang Zhilan had finished the soup, he immediately beamed with joy.
Xiang Zhilan got up and went upstairs. She paused for a moment outside the study door, then knocked and went inside.
She slowly walked to Shen Muzhi's desk and saw that there was indeed a pile of books on pregnancy care on his desk. She bit her lip guiltily and said, "I'm sorry, I misunderstood you."
“I’m used to it,” Shen Muzhi stated calmly.
Xiang Zhilan's cheeks flushed red; this was indeed not the first time she had misunderstood him.
