Ni Sitian followed Xu Jiayue to her room, and the two sat on the sofa picking flower petals.
Xu Jiayue's room style is completely different from Xu Tingchuan's. It is mainly light yellow, and the wallpaper pattern is fresh and elegant, making the whole room look very warm.
There was a photo wall by the bedside, full of photos of Xu Jiayue when she was a child, so she got up to look at them.
Xu Jiayue was very cute as a child, with big eyes and a small face; she already looked like a beauty in the making.
However, it's a bit strange that Xu Tingchuan has had photos taken since birth, every year, while Xu Jiayue's youngest photo makes her look like she's already three or four years old.
Ni Sitian turned around and asked Xu Jiayue in confusion. Xu Jiayue shrugged and replied, "My mom said the earliest photos are gone."
Jin Rulan is definitely not the kind of person who favors sons over daughters. Xu Tingchuan is several years older than Jiayue, and his photos are still well preserved. There is no reason why Jiayue's photos would be missing.
Ni Sitian had another question in her mind. She continued to look at Xu Jiayue's photos, and the more she looked, the more she felt that Xu Jiayue and Xu Tingchuan really didn't look alike. Xu Tingchuan had always had a serious and upright face since he was a child, while Xu Jiayue was smiling in every photo.
Especially the photo of her at sixteen, where she smiles so beautifully. Seeing Ni Sitian staring at that photo, Xu Jiayue said with a touch of emotion, "This is the last photo that Sister Su took of me."
Moreover, it was an unintentional capture; she was looking at Gu Chen at the time. Thinking about it now feels like a lifetime ago. Ten years have passed, and so much has changed.
Ni Sitian smiled faintly and continued watching, but slowly she began to sense that something was wrong.
Since learning to paint from Wu Miaoshui, her ability to observe things has greatly improved, and she can notice subtle details. She felt that Xu Jiayue's face was somewhat like a combination of Gu Huainan and Lin Youqi, a thought that startled her, and she quickly shook her head.
That's absurd. Xu Jiayue is Xu Haicheng and Jin Rulan's daughter, how could she resemble someone else?
Ni Sitian regained her composure, looked away, and returned to the sofa to continue chatting casually with Xu Jiayue.
Around 2 p.m., Ni Sitian felt a little sleepy, so she left Xu Jiayue's room and headed towards Xu Tingchuan's bedroom.
She opened the door and went inside. She saw Xu Tingchuan still sitting on the balcony as he had at noon, so she went over, wrapped her arms around his neck from behind, leaned on his shoulder, and said in a low voice with a hint of reproach, "You ignored me all day."
Xu Tingchuan raised his hand and took Ni Sitian's hand, patting it gently. With his eyes lowered, his voice was slightly hoarse and a little cold: "I'm sorry, I'm not in a good mood."
"Can you tell me about it?" Ni Sitian asked softly. Because of the argument they had on New Year's Eve, she had learned to ask tactfully, even with a hint of caution.
"Where is Jia Yue?" Xu Tingchuan didn't answer, but instead suddenly asked.
“She’s in her own room.” Ni Sitian said, then couldn’t help but probe, “I saw a lot of photos of Jia Yue in her room, but why aren’t there any of Jia Yue’s photos from before she was three years old?”
"You guessed it in your heart, didn't you?" Xu Tingchuan took Ni Sitian to pay respects to Gu Huainan and his wife, and he didn't intend to hide this from Ni Sitian any longer.
“Uh,” Ni Sitian was shocked. Although she had guessed, she had doubted herself and thought it was unlikely. Now, Xu Tingchuan’s words directly confirmed her guess.
Is Xu Jiayue really not Xu Haicheng and Jin Rulan's biological daughter?
