Chapter 731 A Plan

Seeing that she reacted, even if it was to express anger towards him, Shen Muzhi felt a little relieved. Her anger meant that she still cared about something.

“If you don’t want them to worry, get up and eat. If something happens to you, they’ll be the ones who suffer the most,” Shen Muzhi said softly, standing up and looking down at her.

Xiang Zhilan bit her lip, calmed herself down, took a deep breath, and lay back on the bed: "I believe they can understand my decision."

Before the wedding, her mother said that if she really didn't want to get married, she shouldn't. She didn't understand at the time. What her parents wanted was for her to be happy, not the kind of happiness that outsiders saw.

Shen Muzhi looked at the stubborn expression on her face and remained silent for a long time.

He did not compromise or back down, and turned to walk out of the room.

After the door closed again, Xiang Zhilan opened her eyes and slowly sat up.

She couldn't just sit there and wait to die. Starving herself was too depressing and passive; she had to find a way to get out.

Xiang Zhilan thought calmly for a while, then got out of bed and went to the window to check the security bars on the windows.

Shen Muzhi was probably worried that the sound of the electric drill would be too stimulating to the eardrums and affect the fetus, so he had someone use a hammer to break the iron window this morning. The iron window must not be that sturdy.

That's what Xiang Zhilan thought, but after checking it, she found it was much more secure than she had imagined.

If only we had a screwdriver or something similar, we could pry open those four nails and there would be hope.

Unfortunately, the room was empty; the wardrobe contained only clothes, and the bedside table drawers were filled with books and food.

The only tool that could probably be used was the toothbrush, but it was impossible to pry open a nail with a plastic toothbrush.

She had seen it on TV; it was about prisoners in jail sharpening the tip of their toothbrushes and then committing suicide by cutting their wrists.

Haha, she doesn't need to go that far yet.

After thinking for a moment, her eyes suddenly lit up. Xiang Zhilan stood up, walked to the bathroom, turned on the light, and picked up the toothbrush.

He went out again, went to the window, and rubbed the iron bars on the window with a toothbrush.

She didn't know how long she had been grinding, but the toothbrush was only slightly worn down. Her hands were covered in blisters, but she didn't give up. This was the only method she could think of.

She was afraid the guards outside the door would hear, so she didn't dare to rub too hard; she could only rub gently and slowly.

After grinding all night, it finally started to take shape, but it will probably take another two hours to sharpen it completely to a point where it can pierce human skin.

The sky was already beginning to lighten, and she didn't have much time left. She had to finish grinding the leaves before the gardener came to the yard to weed, or she would be discovered.

Xiang Zhilan didn't care about anything else and sped up the grinding process.

As the sun rose over the eastern mountains, the toothbrush tip was finally ground into a sharp cone shape.

She tested the sharpness with her fingertip; it could pierce the skin with just a little force, and she breathed a long sigh of relief.

I hid the toothbrush first, and then used the walkie-talkie to call Afang to bring a toothbrush up.

In June, it was already early summer, and by six o'clock the sky was already bright.

A little while later, Afang came up with a new toothbrush and breakfast.

Xiang Zhilan went to the bathroom to wash up and brush her teeth. After a whole night of fussing, she was exhausted and hungry. She stopped torturing herself and sat down at the table to eat her breakfast slowly.

Afang had initially thought she would have to persuade her husband, but seeing that his wife was eating so willingly, she was very happy and asked repeatedly, "What would you like to eat for lunch, Madam?"

“There’s no noon now.” Xiang Zhilan slowly drank her milk and said to Afang, “Go and call Shen Muzhi over. I have something to say to him.”
