Chapter 791 Frozen Three Feet

Ni Sitian had always harbored doubts about this matter.

Xu Tingchuan swore that Jin Rulan killed Xu Jiayue's parents, but Jin Rulan didn't seem like someone who would intentionally kill out of jealousy.

Even if it was murder out of jealousy, why not kill Gu Huainan before his marriage, and wait until after the child was born? That doesn't make sense.

The laboratory explosion was probably just an accident.

"What's wrong?" Jin Rulan raised her eyebrows slightly when she saw Ni Sitian staring at her.

Ni Sitian quickly shook her head and continued eating her steak.

After dinner, Jin Rulan drove her home.

When the car arrived downstairs, Ni Sitian invited her to come up.

Jin Rulan glanced at the tall building, then looked away, her expression somewhat gloomy: "He won't welcome me."

"How could that be? He's just... just like you, he's not good at expressing himself, which is why you two easily misunderstand each other," Ni Sitian quickly reassured her.

Jin Rulan gave a faint, almost imperceptible smile and said, "Let's go up."

Seeing that she really didn't want to go up, Ni Sitian didn't force her anymore. She opened the door, got out of the car, waved to her, and watched her car drive away before walking into the residential area.

Back home, Xu Tingchuan was sitting in the living room watching financial news. He looked up at her and asked, "Were you discussing the script so late?"

Ni Sitian didn't know how to tell him that she had dinner with Jin Rulan, so she nodded vaguely, then changed into slippers and went to the bedroom to put on her pajamas.

She went to the kitchen, poured herself a glass of water, and sat down next to Xu Tingchuan, glancing at him discreetly.

"What's wrong?" Xu Tingchuan reached out and put his arm around Ni Sitian's shoulder, naturally pulling her into his embrace.

“Actually, today…” Ni Sitian hesitated for a moment, then pursed her lips and said, “I ate dinner with my mom tonight.”

Xu Tingchuan's arm around her shoulder stiffened noticeably. Ni Sitian looked up at him and told him the whole story of what had happened that day, emphasizing how Jin Rulan had protected her.

“Tingchuan, Mom is actually a very good person. What you’re thinking might just be a misunderstanding. I don’t think she would intentionally harm anyone.” Ni Sitian tried to ease the tension between them.

"It wasn't intentional, but it still killed him." Xu Tingchuan stood up, clearly no longer wanting to discuss the matter, and went to the bedroom to get his clothes before heading to the bathroom.

Ni Sitian lowered her head helplessly, realizing that Rome wasn't built in a day and it wouldn't be easy to reverse the situation in a short time.

Perhaps because she mentioned Jin Rulan, Xu Tingchuan was unusually silent in bed that night, staring intently at his French original book. She didn't want to disturb him, so she held her laptop and quietly revised the script by herself.

During today's meeting, when the lead actors were going over their lines, she discovered a serious mistake she had made: some of her lines weren't conversational enough and needed to be corrected.

The two of them were busy with their own things in bed, not cuddling together. Around ten o'clock, Ni Sitian couldn't help herself anymore. She turned off the computer, snuggled into Xu Tingchuan's arms, leaned against his chest, and drew circles with her fingers: "Are you angry with me?"

"No." Xu Tingchuan put down the book, lowered his head and kissed the top of her head. He just didn't like her getting involved in their mother-son relationship, and he didn't like her speaking up for Jin Rulan.

"You said you didn't, but you ignored me just now." Ni Sitian rested her chin on his chest, looked up at him, and pouted, saying, "If you don't talk to me now, we won't be able to talk to each other next month. I'm going to film with the crew."

Xu Tingchuan frowned slightly. "Where are we going with the crew?"

“The first filming location is in Yunnan, it seems like it will take at least a month.” Ni Sitian raised an eyebrow, reached out and poked Xu Tingchuan’s cheek, and smiled: “You used to be the one who went on business trips and I was left alone at home, so let you experience this feeling too.”
