Chapter 81 Waiting for Him to Come Back

When Ni Tianzhen heard Ni Sitian use herself as an example, her face turned several shades paler.

Their fathers were brothers and used to live next to each other, so she was naturally very clear about the chaotic scene in Ni Sitian's home.

Ni Sitian's mother is her rightful second aunt, but because of her weak personality, she is always bullied by that woman. Her second uncle enjoys the blessing of having two wives and usually turns a blind eye.

The situation escalated, and Ni Sitian's mother finally snapped one night, setting fire to everything in an attempt to burn it to ashes.

Fortunately, a torrential downpour began that night and extinguished the fire before it could spread, saving everyone's lives.

Ni Sitian's mother also disappeared completely that day, and her whereabouts have been unknown for many years.

She is three years older than Ni Sitian, so she probably remembers these things more clearly.

It was precisely because she understood this that her complexion worsened.

"Sister?" Ni Sitian called out twice nervously when she didn't hear Ni Tianzhen's response.

Ni Tianzhen came to her senses, pursed her lips, and said with some difficulty, "I understand, I will talk to him."

Ni Sitian didn't know what to say next; there was no way to comfort her in this situation.

"Sitian, is that ten million still with you?" Ni Tianzhen suddenly asked.

"Um."

“Give it to me.” Ni Tianzhen paused, then added, “I also want to talk to that woman.”

“Okay.” Ni Sitian agreed readily. The money didn’t belong to her anyway, and it was like a hot potato to keep it in her hands. It was better to let Ni Tianzhen handle it herself.

After hanging up the phone, Ni Sitian took her ID and bank card to the business hall to get things done.

For some reason, I felt uneasy, so I called Ni Tianzhen again and advised her to handle the situation calmly.

Ni Tianzhen seemed to have calmed down this time. Although her voice was still faint, it had regained some energy.

Relieved, Ni Sitian went home.

As soon as I entered the house, I saw Xu Tingchuan's shoes in the entryway.

She changed into slippers and hurried to the bedroom, where she saw Xu Tingchuan packing his luggage.

"Where did you go?" Xu Tingchuan looked up at her, his hands still moving.

"I've transferred that ten million to my cousin." Seeing him packing so hastily, Ni Sitian asked, "Weren't you supposed to be going on a business trip the day after tomorrow?"

"Something came up, so I have to go ahead of time." Xu Tingchuan locked his suitcase and headed out.

Ni Sitian followed behind him and saw him out.

Suddenly, Xu Tingchuan stopped and turned around.

Before Ni Sitian could stop herself, her face slammed into his hard chest. She let out a yelp, clutching her sore nose and rubbing it.

Xu Tingchuan chuckled softly, placed his hand on her head, patted her head, and whispered, "Be careful while I'm away. Remember to turn off the gas, lock the doors and windows, watch out for cars when you walk, don't get sick, and eat well."

Ni Sitian smiled helplessly: "I'm not a three-year-old child."

Xu Tingchuan also felt that his explanations seemed a bit naive, but he still wanted to give them.

I've never felt this way before when I go on business trips. I just leave whenever I want and never think about how she'll be left alone at home.

But now I feel so worried about her, I even want to put her in my pocket and take her with me.

He looked down at her, as if he had a lot to say but didn't know where to begin.

Ni Sitian felt embarrassed by his gaze, her cheeks flushed slightly, and she muttered softly, "Why are you looking at me like that?"

Xu Tingchuan raised his hand and pulled her into his arms.

Ni Sitian leaned against his chest, hesitated for a moment, then raised her hand to hug him back, and said, "You have to be careful out there too."

"Mmm." Xu Tingchuan released her, smiled, and gently kissed her forehead: "Be a good girl and wait for me to come back."

Ni Sitian looked at him and nodded heavily.

Xu Tingchuan picked up his suitcase, turned around, opened the door, and went out.

Ni Sitian stared blankly at the closed door for a long while before turning around.

Her eyes slowly dimmed, and she was left alone in the large room once again.
