"Over the years, you've grown up. Perhaps because of you, your mother's attitude towards me has softened somewhat." Xu Haicheng said, a hint of nostalgia in his expression. Those one or two years were the happiest time of his life.

"So Lin Youqi changed her label and orchestrated this lab explosion, both to die together with Gu Huainan and to frame Mom at the same time." Xu Tingchuan quickly grasped the key point; once the events were connected, everything became clear.
“Yes, that’s it. She knew perfectly well why the explosion happened, but she wanted to protect Gu Huainan and Lin Youqi’s reputation after their deaths, so she took all the blame. She refused to tell the truth during the internal investigation. I’ve never seen anyone dumber than her. If it weren’t for the Xu family’s influence, she might never have been able to do the scientific research she loved.” Xu Haicheng gripped the tin can so tightly it was embedded in the ground. “That’s nothing. To prevent Jia Yue from knowing that she had such parents, she would rather Jia Yue hate only her.”
Xu Tingchuan closed his eyes, his hands clenched tightly. He had never known that his mother had endured so much.
“There’s one more thing,” Xu Haicheng thought, since he was going to talk about it, he might as well say everything at once. After taking another big gulp of iced coffee, he exhaled and said, “After Jiayue came to our house, the relationship between your mother and me started to improve, but because I’m still plagued by jealousy…”
Before Xu Haicheng could finish speaking, he heard the sound of footsteps stepping on fallen leaves behind him.
Both father and son turned around and saw Xu Jiayue standing stiffly under a tree not far away.
"Jiayue." The two stood up at the same time, calling out to Xu Jiayue in a somewhat panicked manner.
Xu Jiayue stared wide-eyed at Xu Haicheng. Her face looked pale under the streetlights, clearly shocked from the earlier ordeal.
Xu Haicheng sighed deeply. He knew what he needed to know, and he walked towards Jia Yue.
"Don't come any closer!" Xu Jiayue shouted, her eyes reddening. "Everything you just said was a lie, wasn't it?"
"It's all true. I only have the copy of the surveillance video from the lab back then." Xu Haicheng didn't want to hide it anymore. Jin Rulan had already suffered enough; she couldn't lose her daughter Jiayue as well.
