Ni Sitian stood outside listening for a while and finally understood that the company's cash flow was in trouble and Xu Tingchuan was now trying to find a solution.
He had never mentioned it to her before; it turned out there was something so serious.
She still didn't care enough about him, only thinking about seeking his help when she had troubles, without noticing that he was also facing problems.
Ni Sitian bit her lip with a hint of self-reproach. It was best not to tell her father about his worries, lest she add to his troubles at a time like this. He was already fretting about finances; she should figure out the 2.5 million yuan herself.
Xu Tingchuan stopped what he was doing, picked up his teacup, and got up to make a cup of coffee. When he opened the door, he saw Ni Sitian standing outside.
"You're back? What did you do this afternoon?" Xu Tingchuan put aside his worries and asked Ni Sitian softly.
Ni Sitian left him a note before leaving, but didn't say anything specific.
"I went to the production company," Ni Sitian replied, then asked, "Have you had dinner yet?"
Xu Tingchuan was clearly taken aback for a moment, and Ni Sitian knew that he must have been too busy to remember. She pursed her lips and said, "I haven't eaten either, so I'll go cook some noodles."
"Okay." Xu Tingchuan and Ni Sitian went into the kitchen.
Ni Sitian started cooking noodles, while Xu Tingchuan started brewing coffee.
Ni Sitian's noodles were simple and cooked quickly. She frowned slightly when she saw Xu Tingchuan's black coffee and gently advised, "Drink less coffee at night."
"Then Madam will come and refresh me," Xu Tingchuan said jokingly, pointing to his lips.
Ni Sitian stared straight at him. Despite facing such a huge problem, he always seemed so calm and collected in front of her, as if he would smile and hold up the sky for her even if it fell.
She tiptoed and gave her a light kiss on the lips, then said, "Come and eat some noodles."
Xu Tingchuan was satisfied and took the noodles out.
Xu Tingchuan ate very quickly, as if he were eating some kind of delicacy, even though it was just plain boiled egg noodles.
Ni Sitian was preoccupied and had little appetite, but seeing Xu Tingchuan eating so heartily made her happier than if she were eating herself.
After finishing her noodles, Ni Sitian tidied up the dishes and put them in the kitchen. Not wanting to wash them right now, she soaked them in a basin and turned to look at Xu Tingchuan, who was standing on the balcony digesting his food.
She dried her hands, took off her apron, walked over, and wrapped her arms around Xu Tingchuan's waist from behind, whispering, "Honey, let's sell the island in the middle of the lake."
Xu Tingchuan paused for a moment, then turned his head to see Ni Sitian's face pressed against his back.
“I’m serious. We can’t possibly live there anyway. Besides, I’ve said before that I prefer it here. It’s such a waste that it’s empty over there and they have to support so many people. You know how stingy I am. I can’t sleep well at night because of this waste,” Ni Sitian said sincerely.
"You heard that outside the door just now?" Xu Tingchuan immediately realized what was going on.
“Hmm.” Ni Sitian said without any concealment, “It’s not entirely because of that. I really think the island in the middle of the lake is unnecessary, especially since it’s so luxurious. Many people outside are watching. Even if you earned it all, with your father-in-law in such a high position, we really shouldn’t be so conspicuous and give people room to criticize us.”
Xu Tingchuan lowered his head, took Ni Sitian's hand, and said, "It's not to the point where we have to sell the house."
“I know you can think of other ways, but this is the fastest solution.” Ni Sitian moved from behind Xu Tingchuan to stand in front of him, looked up and said, “Sell it.”
