Chapter 97 Showing Weakness Due to Illness

Ni Sitian never expected to see this when she opened the door.

Xu Tingchuan was lying on the sofa, clutching his stomach, his brows furrowed and his face slightly pale.

She didn't even have time to change her shoes before rushing over, squatting down beside him, and anxiously asking, "What's wrong? Are you feeling unwell?"

"You're back." Xu Tingchuan opened his eyes.

“I’ll take you to the hospital.” Ni Sitian grabbed his arm and tried to help him up from the sofa.

Xu Tingchuan shook his head slightly: "It's an old problem. I'll take the medicine. It's in that cabinet. Could you get it for me?"

Ni Sitian quickly got up, rummaged through the cabinet, found the medicine, and then hurried to the kitchen to pour herself a glass of water.

She quickly walked back to his side, helped him up, and took his medicine.

After watching him swallow the medicine, she asked anxiously, "Are you feeling better?"

"It won't take effect so quickly." Xu Tingchuan smiled helplessly.

"Would you like me to make you some porridge?"

As Ni Sitian was about to get up, Xu Tingchuan grabbed her hand, pulled her onto his lap, wrapped his arms around her, and said in a low voice, "Don't be angry, okay?"

Ni Sitian froze for a moment. She was no longer in the mood to be angry with him and asked worriedly, "Are you sure we don't need to go to the hospital?"

Xu Tingchuan shook his head. "It'll be ready in a bit."

Ni Sitian felt a little uncomfortable being held on his lap like this, and when she tried to stand up, he held her even tighter.

She sat stiffly, pursed her lips, and asked, "Do you often have stomach aches?"

"Mmm." Xu Tingchuan rested his chin on her shoulder and neck, tilting his head against her.

"Drink less alcohol in the future," Ni Sitian advised.

"Okay." Xu Tingchuan felt her stiffen in his arms, and his voice was low: "Are you still angry?"

Ni Sitian hesitated for a moment, then shook her head and said frankly, "It's not that I'm angry, it's that I feel uncomfortable and don't know how to face you."

Xu Tingchuan's eyes darkened slightly. It seemed he was right; she had deliberately come back so late to avoid him.

"No man would be happy to hear that another man is pursuing his wife." He took her hand in his palm, squeezed it gently, and said in a low, husky voice, "Please forgive me, okay?"

Ni Sitian didn't know what to say. He wasn't feeling well, so how could she argue with a sick person? She replied calmly, "Yeah, does your stomach still hurt? Why don't you get some rest?"

Xu Tingchuan felt that she hadn't truly forgiven him, but at this point, he couldn't force her any further.

As long as she's not as afraid of him or resistant to him as before, giving him a chance to get close is fine.

Pei Yang actually came up with a reliable idea.

He put his hand on her shoulder, leaned his weight on her, and let her help him back to the bedroom.

After lying down on the bed, he pulled her into his arms again.

Ni Sitian didn't notice anything unusual, assuming that sick people were more vulnerable, so she turned around to face him, hugged his waist, and murmured, "Sleep."

"Have you been living with Xiang Zhilan all this time?" He wanted to know what she had been doing while he was away.

“I just moved there the day before yesterday.” After saying that, Ni Sitian thought for a moment and decided to explain Qin Mubei’s situation. She said, “I really didn’t know that I was in the same office building as Qin Mubei before I started working. I don’t know why he suddenly said that that day.”

Xu Tingchuan looked into her clear, bright eyes, which were filled with openness and honesty, and he pulled her closer.

Ni Sitian leaned against him. She really wanted to ask why he hadn't returned her calls, but she was afraid that the answer she would get wouldn't be what she wanted.

The words lingered on his lips, but in the end, he didn't say them.
