Chapter 99 Let's Stop Making a Scene

Ni Sitian lowered her eyes, feeling somewhat guilty, and dared not look at him.

Xu Tingchuan knew why she was upset, and smiled faintly, saying, "You really think your little kitten-like strength can cause me to have a stomach hemorrhage?"

Ni Sitian pursed her lips. She could tell he was trying to comfort her and didn't want her to blame herself.

But she was indeed reckless today. She used too much force when she pushed him away with her elbow. He already has a sensitive stomach, and she shouldn't have done that.

"Alright, stop looking so sad. Your husband isn't dead." Xu Tingchuan's eyes were slightly smiling as he patted her head.

"Ptooey, ptooey, ptooey, don't talk nonsense." Ni Sitian quickly covered his mouth with her hand.

Xu Tingchuan parted his lips slightly and kissed her palm.

Startled, Ni Sitian withdrew her hand, her cheeks flushing red as she stammered, "What are you doing?"

Xu Tingchuan chuckled softly and pulled her into his arms.

Ni Sitian tried to get up from his embrace, but he held her tightly, as if he wanted to meld her into his very bones.

His arms were so strong and powerful that he could hold her tightly with one hand. His embrace was warm and hot, making her face flush red and leaving her powerless to struggle.

"Ni Sitian, let's stop fooling around."

A deep, slightly husky voice sounded from above her head. She froze for a fraction of a second in his arms before going limp.

She gently rubbed her cheek against his chest and responded with a soft "Mmm".

She'd already gotten him into the hospital, so she had no right to make a scene. Now she was filled with guilt and worry.

Seeing her nestled obediently in his arms, Xu Tingchuan smiled contentedly and gently stroked her soft hair.

The atmosphere between the two eased, and they quietly embraced for a while.

"Bed 308, you're all set..." The doctor knocked on the door, opened it, and, seeing the two people embracing on the bed, coughed lightly. "You can have the gastroscopy done now."

Ni Sitian quickly got out of Xu Tingchuan's arms and awkwardly tidied her hair.

Xu Tingchuan, on the other hand, remained calm, nodded, and prepared to get off the bed.

Ni Sitian immediately reached out to help him.

He smiled and leaned halfway down, pressing his body against her shoulder. He knew she felt guilty and that she would feel uneasy if he didn't let her do something.

After helping Xu Tingchuan inside for a gastroscopy, Ni Sitian called her company to ask for leave and then went to the hospital's convenience store to buy some things she would need for her hospital stay.

After everything was settled, Ni Sitian waited for Xu Tingchuan to come out of the examination room. Seeing that his complexion was even worse than when he went in, she was extremely worried and hurriedly supported him.

"It's alright, this is normal during a gastroscopy," Xu Tingchuan said with a gentle smile, trying to reassure her.

"Do you often have gastroscopy?" As his wife, she had no idea that his stomach was in such bad shape. She hadn't tried to dissuade him from drinking at social events before.

"I just do it every year during my physical exam," Xu Tingchuan said casually, trying not to worry her.

Ni Sitian helped him to the bed and adjusted him to a comfortable position.

The nurse came over and gave him an IV drip.

She sat down beside him, looking at him with concern: "Is it still in a lot of pain?"

Xu Tingchuan reached out and gently pinched her nose. "I'm not that fragile."

"No matter what, you're not allowed to drink alcohol for three months, and you can't just eat whatever you want after that. You also can't work all night." Ni Sitian looked at him seriously.

Just as Xu Tingchuan was about to laugh at her for making a fuss over nothing, she suddenly threw herself into his arms, hugging him tightly, her voice slightly choked: "On the way to the hospital, you were unconscious the whole time, which scared me to death."

He chuckled silently, gently stroking her. He hadn't felt this kind of pure and direct concern in a very long time.

This feeling... isn't bad.
