Ni Sitian felt increasingly guilty and buried her face in his chest, sobbing softly.
Xu Tingchuan cupped her face in his hands, gently wiped away her tears, and said softly, "Silly girl, why are you crying? Are you going to wake our son?"
Ni Sitian immediately stopped crying, looked down at Tuantuan in her arms, who was still sleeping soundly.
Xu Tingchuan wiped away Ni Sitian's tears, gently stroking her tear stains, and coaxed her softly, "Okay, go to sleep."
Ni Sitian nodded, gently put Xiao Tuantuan down, and lay down on her side as well. Her eyes inadvertently glanced down at the still erect spot on his body.
So long...
She looked away, not daring to look any longer.
Xu Tingchuan pulled his bathrobe tighter, got out of bed, and went back into the bathroom.
After a long while, he came out of the bathroom again, now dressed in pajamas.
He lay down on the other side of the bed. Originally, he should have been holding Ni Sitian intimately as they fell asleep, but now that there was a little bundle of joy between them, they were separated. He frowned slightly, feeling that this arrangement was very inappropriate.
Ni Sitian couldn't bear to part with her little dumpling, so she let the little dumpling sleep on her other side, and then he would hug her from behind to sleep like this. This is the correct sleeping position for a family of three.
However, the little one is still small, and it wouldn't be good if he fell down at night, so he'll buy a fence tomorrow.
"Let's just make do for today," Xu Tingchuan thought. He would first bend down and kiss the older one, then the younger one, and then turn off the light.
Ni Sitian lay on her side facing the little dumpling, and Xu Tingchuan also lay on his side, holding her hand. Only by holding her like this could he feel a little more at ease.
Ni Sitian let him hold her hand like that, and the warmth of his palm made her feel at ease, so she slowly closed her eyes.
The next day, Ni Sitian woke up at six o'clock because she was jet-lagged. She didn't expect to see Xu Tingchuan propping his head up with one hand and staring at her intently.
The winter sun sets late, and it's still a gray haze outside.
The room was dark, but Ni Sitian could feel that Xu Tingchuan's eyes were very bright. There was no fatigue in his dark eyes, only joy. He just kept staring at her like that.
Her cheeks flushed slightly, feeling embarrassed by his gaze. Her voice, still low and husky with sleepiness, asked, "When did you wake up? Why so early?"
“I’ve been awake the whole time.” Xu Tingchuan reached out and brushed aside her stray hairs.
Ni Sitian was stunned for a moment, her eyes widening in surprise. She sat up, fully awake. "You haven't slept since last night?"
"I'm afraid that if I close my eyes, you'll disappear." Xu Tingchuan just stared at her like that, as if he had been watching her tirelessly all night.
Ni Sitian felt a lump in her throat upon hearing this, and Xu Tingchuan smiled faintly: "Silly girl, I was just kidding. Tuantuan needed to nurse at night, and I just finished feeding him."
Actually, that statement is only half true. Tuantuan did need to be breastfed, but he didn't sleep all night.
"How come I didn't know Tuantuan was nursing?" Ni Sitian didn't hear her baby crying at all during the night.
"Tuantuan is so sensible. He knows his mother is working hard, so he doesn't cry or fuss. When he's hungry, he just pats my face." Xu Tingchuan was both pleased with her son's thoughtfulness and helpless, as her son seemed to have been won over by his mother. This was probably just the natural bond between mother and son.
Ni Sitian smiled upon hearing this, and lowered her head to kiss Tuantuan's forehead. She, a mother who had not fulfilled her responsibilities, had won such tenderness and dependence from her son. No one was luckier than her.
