After picking up her phone, Ni Sitian felt inexplicably nervous. She took a deep breath before swiping to answer, her voice unconsciously soft and gentle: "Hello."
Hearing her voice, Xu Tingchuan chuckled and said, "You're taking a lunch break, right? Have you eaten?"
"Mmm." Ni Sitian blushed slightly upon hearing his voice, and her voice became a little awkward. "Have you eaten yet?"
"Not yet, I just came out of the meeting." Xu Tingchuan opened the door and walked into the office.
"Then, then you should go eat quickly," Ni Sitian said anxiously. "You can't let your stomach go hungry."
Xu Tingchuan smiled and said, "I've already asked Secretary Xue to order the food."
"Oh." Ni Sitian suddenly didn't know what to say, only that her palms were sweating and her heart was beating a little too fast.
The two fell silent at the same time, but neither of them seemed inclined to hang up first.
Finally, Ni Sitian broke the silence first: "You called just to ask if I've eaten yet?"
Xu Tingchuan smiled faintly: "I just wanted to hear your voice."
These words made Ni Sitian blush even more and her heart race. His voice was deep and magnetic, and when it came through the phone, it sounded like he was whispering sweet nothings in her ear.
"Well, you heard it, is there anything else?" She blushed and stammered.
"Is your back still sore?" Xu Tingchuan asked with a light laugh.
"I...I'm fine." Ni Sitian was embarrassed and didn't know how to answer. She wanted to hang up the phone and ignore him.
"Sitian." Xu Tingchuan called her name before she hung up the phone, and chuckled softly, "If you're too tired, take a day off and go home to rest. Don't push yourself."
"I'm just an intern. I get fired every other day if I ask for leave," Ni Sitian muttered, her eyes lowered as she stirred her straw.
"If you get fired, I'll take responsibility." Xu Tingchuan's voice was calm, but his eyes were gentle.
Although Ni Sitian had no intention of being a freeloader, she was very happy that her husband said that, which made her feel at ease and that she had a shoulder to lean on, and her heart was filled with sweetness.
Just then, there was a knock on the door, and Secretary Xue pushed the door open and came in carrying a lunchbox.
"I'll pick you up after get off work, I'll hang up now." Xu Tingchuan said this, but did not hang up the phone first. He only put his phone away after Ni Sitian hung up.
Secretary Xue set out the meal for Xu Tingchuan and then reported, "I have sent the information of several well-known wedding planning companies in Yihai to your email."
"Okay, I understand." Xu Tingchuan stood up and sat down at the long table.
"Are you getting married?" Xue Zhichun asked, noticing that he seemed to be in a good mood.
"Not yet, we have to wait until she graduates first." Xu Tingchuan was in a good mood and chatted with Secretary Xue for a while: "What kind of wedding do you women want?"
Xue Zhichun couldn't help but laugh: "You should discuss this with your wife."
Xu Tingchuan had only asked casually and did not expect her to give any answer.
"There's a charity ball in Wanhua tomorrow night. Should I cancel it for you?" Xue Zhichun asked, knowing that he never liked attending such events.
Xu Tingchuan initially wanted to decline, but then he thought that it wouldn't be bad to bring Ni Sitian along, so he said casually, "No need."
Xue Zhichun felt that Xu Tingchuan seemed to have changed. Although he was still indifferent, it was as if the sun was shining on him, and he was no longer as cold as ice.
This change is probably because of Ni Sitian, right?
A slight smile curved her lips as she couldn't help but sigh, "Love is truly a wonderful thing."
