Su Yan simply gave her a comforting hug and then let go.
However, they were unaware that someone had taken a picture of their embrace through the glass in the door.
Shen Muzhi looked up at her and smiled faintly: "Thank you, I will find them."
Su Yan smiled and nodded, "You definitely will, keep going."
Eleven years of separation have made those youthful feelings seem to have vanished into the clouds, the air, the rain, and the torrent of time, leaving only a familiar yet strange feeling.
There was no going back in the end; she knew he had truly let her go.
Even if she hadn't come back alive, perhaps she could have held a place in his heart forever.
But now it's different; his heart is completely filled with the three people on his phone screen.
That's it. He's let go, and so should she.
"Zikai is still waiting for me, I'm leaving now." Su Yan stood up, smiled at him, and then turned and left gracefully.
“Ayan.” Shen Muzhi suddenly called out to Su Yan and said, “Stay in Yihai. Uncle Su also hopes so. Take good care of that foundation for him. He must really regret transferring the hatred between adults onto Zhilan, causing her to be abandoned from childhood. That’s why he established this charity foundation for orphaned children. Consider it fulfilling his last wish.”
Su Yan turned around and nodded solemnly.
At the time, she was in danger of dying at any moment, so she didn't take it to heart. Now that she has been given a new life, she feels that she should dedicate her life to something more meaningful.
Shen Muzhi smiled faintly at her, then turned to look out the window again; the sunlight was truly beautiful.
Su Yan walked out of the hospital and arrived at the parking area. When she saw Xin Zikai's car, she immediately ran over.
"I'll wait for you, why are you running?" Xin Zikai saw Su Yan was slightly out of breath from running, gently patted her back, and said reproachfully, "Don't you know the doctor said you can't exercise?"
"Alright, alright, it's only a dozen or so steps. Look at you nagging like this." Su Yan pouted. Although her voice was a little hoarse from the burns, her tone was much brighter than before.
Xin Zikai could see that Su Yan was slowly regaining her original personality and was truly beginning to emerge from the shadow of her disfigurement.
"Anyway, you need to be careful in the future and don't do it again." He started the car and then said, "I'm going back to the United States in a few days. I've stayed here for too long, and the research institute is starting to have complaints."
"You're leaving?" Su Yan was stunned for a moment. She had forgotten that Xin Zikai didn't belong here. He had a career, a family, and friends in America.
“Well, it’s time to go back. Besides, you’re all better now, so there’s no need for me to stay. Shen Muzhi and Xu Tingchuan will take care of you from now on.” Xin Zikai looked up at Su Yan’s expression, smiled slightly, and said, “Live well here and fulfill your father’s last wish.”
Su Yan leaned back in her chair, seemingly exhausted, and pursed her lips: "Do you really have to leave?"
"Can you give me a reason not to leave?" Xin Zikai gripped the steering wheel tightly. In fact, he had thought things through very clearly these past few days. Back then, in the situation between Su Yan and Xiang Zhilan, he sided with Su Yan. He had seen his own heart clearly.
He had once passionately confessed his feelings to Xiang Zhilan, but now he realized it was simply because Xiang Zhilan and Su Yan shared some similar characteristics, which was why she attracted him.
However, Su Yan hid herself very well, so well that even he couldn't see her clearly. So he could only attribute all those feelings to friendship. Now he slowly understands that beneath her mottled face is a heart of gold, with perseverance, courage, and kindness—all rare and precious qualities.
“Do you know what kind of reason I want?” Xin Zikai turned to her as they stopped at the traffic light.
Su Yan lowered her head, her fingers twisting together. After all this time, how could she not understand his meaning? But she was neither beautiful nor healthy; she was not worthy of him.
"Ayan, do you really not want to keep me here?" Xin Zikai asked again. This was his last chance for her. He wanted to pull her out of her shell completely.
Su Yan bit her lip tightly, clenched her fist, and uttered a single word in a hoarse voice: "Yes."
