Chapter 10
"It's okay, it's just corroded the surface, it's not serious."
Jiang Xiangyang grinned in relief, but the inadvertent moans and hisses still revealed his feelings at the moment.
The little ball was running around anxiously, looking like he was about to cry. Just as he was about to grab Jiang Xiangyang's arm and take him to the infirmary, he heard a male voice coming from the side.
"Give me your hand."
His tone was light and emotionless. The man lying on the ground had already stood up, and the dark color in his eyes seemed to be even darker.
When looking at the man, Jiang Xiangyang seemed to be lost in chaos. When he came to his senses, he found that he had already stretched out his arm obediently and leaned forward slightly to make it easier for the man to hold his arm. The degree of his servility shocked the little ball next to him.
Then the man tore off the part of his body that was stained with corrosive liquid.
Jiang Xiangyang: “…”
Jiang Xiangyang immediately put aside his doubts about why he was so obedient, and looked at the half-broken sleeve, his mind full of disbelief.
He had just seen clearly that the man did not tear along the cut, but instead pulled the cloth above it, pulling the cut where the corrosive liquid remained away from his skin, and then tore it off simply and roughly.
Although the Hilda school uniform wasn't very corrosion-resistant, the special fiber fabric surpassed even the most renowned protective clothing in terms of toughness and elasticity. Yet, it was torn apart so easily by a man's bare hands.
Remembering the producer's assurance that the dress would not be damaged by human power, Jiang Xiangyang was a little distracted and thought that if the man filmed this incident as a video and uploaded it to the other party, he would probably get a large amount of quality inspection penalty.
“Hmm—”
The severe pain in his arm made Jiang Xiangyang unable to help but look.
The man had taken out a bottle at some point and was pouring the liquid in the bottle onto his wound. The liquid was pure and clear, and emitted a faint fragrance. It looked innocent, but it brought more pain than the corrosive liquid. Jiang Xiangyang's entire arm was shaking like a sieve.
Seeing Jiang Xiangyang trying to pull his arm back, the man said coldly, "Don't move."
These two words were more effective than any words of restraint. Jiang Xiangyang immediately woke up from the pain, gritted his teeth and stared at the washed wound, concentrating his mind and calming his breath. He really didn't move again, and his breathing became even under the restraint of willpower.
Jiang Xiangyang didn't notice that the man's eyebrows raised and he looked a little surprised.
The knuckles were cold, and the touch was noticeable when they touched his skin. He vaguely felt the palm holding him moving, and then the pain subsided a lot, but Jiang Xiangyang also thought it might be his illusion because his arm was already numb from the pain.
The liquid quickly washed away the black corrosive liquid, and the bottle was empty. The man did not feel reluctant at all, and then flexibly picked out the cotton pad pressed on the bottle cap. He operated with one hand without any constraints, and wiped it casually on Jiang Xiangyang's wound. The rotten area disappeared, and a pink and tender patch was left.
The wound oozed bright red blood, but it was no longer a serious problem. Jiang Xiangyang asked in amazement, "What kind of wound medicine is this?"
The man didn't answer. He pressed his fingers on Jiang Xiangyang's arm a few times, and the bleeding stopped. Jiang Xiangyang blinked and held his arm, looking at it as if he was looking at a rare treasure.
"Don't get it wet until it heals."
"Oh, okay."
After replying, Jiang Xiangyang remembered the man's shocking behavior of sleeping on the man-eating tree just now. He raised his head, but the man had already stood up and walked away. Before leaving, he glanced at the small ball beside Jiang Xiangyang with no expression on his face.
Jiang Xiangyang also suppressed what he wanted to say.
Little G clung to Jiang Xiangyang's arm, carefully examining it three or four times. Jiang Xiangyang stood up. Seeing its nervous look, he felt touched. He took the little ball back into his arms and gently rubbed it with his thumb: "How is it?"
"It's all right now." The little ball looked relieved, but then muttered in confusion, "But I can't analyze the ingredients of that bottle of medicine."
"Maybe it's a family secret recipe." Jiang Xiangyang glanced at his arm again and said uncertainly, "Little G, do you think we just saved someone, or... disturbed his rest?"
It was a little unbelievable to say that he disturbed the other party's rest on the man-eating tree, but Jiang Xiangyang recalled the man's calmness and decisiveness when dealing with the corrosive liquid, and this guess vaguely emerged in his mind.
Little G couldn't come up with an answer, even though it was an AI with a perfect personality: "I don't know."
After struggling for a while without coming to a definite conclusion, Jiang Xiangyang looked at the liquid that had mostly spilled on the ground. He paused, picked up the waste half of his sleeve and threw it into the trash can, then walked towards the teaching building.
The professor who opened the door first glanced at Jiang Xiangyang's half sleeve, then his eyes focused on the wound exposed on the other party. Finally, he opened the door and turned back to the inner room without saying a word.
Jiang Xiangyang closed the door and walked in. Afraid that the professor would misunderstand, he quickly said, "It wasn't an injury sustained during the land reclamation."
The professor sat on a chair, holding his treasured ancient book, turning the pages one by one, and speaking slowly: "I'm not that old yet." He couldn't remember the common sense that injury means death.
Realizing that he had inadvertently challenged the other party's authority as an honorary professor of pioneering, Jiang Xiangyang quickly laughed. Hearing the professor cough lightly a few times, he turned around and poured warm water and placed it in a convenient place for the professor, then stood beside him and acted like a good boy.
The professor glanced at him, took the water, and rubbed the wall of the cup with his palm. He said leisurely, "The micro-chemistry teacher came to complain to me again, saying that I had seduced one of his well-behaved and sensible top students."
Jiang Xiangyang moved his feet and tried to shrink into a corner.
But this time the professor didn't continue the teasing. As usual, he got straight to the point: "Why don't you have a pioneering class for seniors? You only have to attend lectures occasionally. Don't you understand by now?"
“…”
After a moment of silence, Jiang Xiangyang shook his head: "I understand."
The professor saw his expression and immediately realized that persuasion was futile. He sighed and didn't force him: "The handouts are on the table. Take them if you want to see them."
It's not that he can't sense the other party's kindness. Jiang Xiangyang is truly grateful: "Thank you, Professor."
After taking the lecture notes and expressing his gratitude, Jiang Xiangyang was about to leave when the professor suddenly called him.
"Hilda conducts intensive training every three years, and this year happens to be their turn." The professor looked at the steam rising from his cup. "There are seven days left. Barring any unexpected events, the location will be Dikuang Star. The rules are the same as nine years ago: collect crystal sources and compete for number plates. The final score may be tied to your academic year evaluation."
Jiang Xiangyang groaned, but he didn't feel secretly happy. He felt unreal that an authority in the education field was actually helping him cheat. However, the professor's next words made Jiang Xiangyang dumbfounded.
"If you don't get first place in the exam, don't come to class anymore."
