That evening.
As usual, Avery logged into the game before bed and read through the story of the mini-card in "Charge! Top Male Insect Lord".
After watching the little boy's face turn yellow, he reluctantly put down the personal terminal and quickly fell asleep.
Avery has always slept very well.
Every time I close my eyes and open them again, it's dawn.
But after falling asleep this time, in his hazy state, Avery saw a glimmer of light in his pitch-black vision.
This beam of light gradually expanded, illuminating the darkness.
Avery rubbed his stinging eyes and looked around.
"Huh? How did I end up in the locker room?" Avery asked, somewhat puzzled.
The small changing room contained a row of wardrobes filled with countless sets of military uniforms. After each battle with the alien beasts, they would place their clothes in the changing room for the robots to disinfect and clean.
In the center of the changing room, there was a long, brown leather chair.
Avery was standing right at the door.
Curious, he walked up to the cabinet and looked at each item one by one.
The cabinet, which was originally blurry, gradually came to resemble its real form under his gaze.
The names of the entire team were also posted on the cabinet.
Avery glanced down at his clothes.
The black uniforms of the Fifth Guard Corps were covered in dried blood.
He quickly took off his clothes, hung them on a hanger, and planned to put them in the closet to wait for disinfection and cleaning.
But the moment he opened his wardrobe, he froze.
How come there are bugs hiding in the closet?!
Avery stared wide-eyed as he sized up the other creature's height. It was about 1.85 meters tall. So short, could it be a male?
Seemingly to confirm something, Avery looked at the Zerg's face.
"Pfft!" Avery only glanced at it before covering his mouth.
What an adorable face! It looks a bit like a baby face, like a two-dimensional character from a video game!
Just then, the insectoid creature, which appeared to be male, spoke.
"Ahem, may I go out now? Although the closet is quite spacious." The voice was soft and sweet, with a slight nasal tone.
Avery picked at his ear and asked in surprise, "Are you a female or a sub-female?"
"Uh...neither."
As soon as he finished speaking, Avery was so shocked by the result that he stumbled back several steps and fell onto the bench in the locker room.
"You! You! You are the male insect!"
Avery nervously pointed at the Zerg opposite him, stammering with fear.
The man tilted his head: "Well, you could say that. I am indeed male."
Just as Avery was about to say something, he suddenly heard the sound of a lock being opened at the door.
"Beep beep".
The automatic door to the changing room opened in response.
Avery didn't have time to think and quickly closed the cabinet door.
At the entrance, Bart, with a blank and numb expression, walked into the locker room.
Avery greeted him nervously:
"Captain, you're here to change too."
Bart did not answer; he seemed lost in his own world.
Barthes pulled out an easel from somewhere, took out a box of paints, and began to paint intently in the dressing room.
Avery swallowed hard, somewhat at a loss.
The sudden appearance of the male insect, and the captain engrossed in his work—this is all too bizarre.
But what's even scarier is yet to come.
Not long after.
Avery suddenly realized that there were a pair of hands inside his clothes, wandering around.
He grabbed the hands in terror, turned around and looked back, only to find it was the male insect, who lifted his clothes from behind!
Avery's hair was practically standing on end. He glanced nervously at the captain and whispered:
"Sir, what are you doing? Why did you come out of the wardrobe?"
Avery's mind was a mess right now.
He instinctively straightened his back, stood up, and shielded the male insect behind him.
He didn't want the captain to see the male insect, because it was the male insect he had picked up.
A soft, nasal voice came from beside my ear:
"Who is this person? Why is he appearing in your dream? Make him disappear quickly, otherwise... do you really like being watched like this...?"
Avery's mind went blank for a moment: "Huh?"
Before he could ask any more questions, Avery quickly became engrossed in those hands.
As the saying goes, "The flower path has never been swept for guests, but the humble gate is now opened for you."
Avery soon experienced his first time.
Still behind the captain.
He looked ahead nervously, his breathing barely touching the ground, afraid that the captain might suddenly turn around.
A short while later.
Avery suddenly realized something and asked in a low voice:
"Sir, sir, where is your tail hook?"
Avery looked disheveled, as if he had been trampled by a giant elephant a thousand times. Sweat soaked his hair and covered his lean muscles.
“Uh…you want a tail hook? I might not be able to give it to you for another six months.” The male insect behind him paused for a moment before replying.
Upon hearing this, Avery's eyes reddened, and he suddenly retorted angrily:
"So you're a scumbag male! You wouldn't even let me see your tail hook!"
The Yao tribe man behind him twitched at the corner of his mouth and couldn't help but bite Avery's back:
"I'm not a jerk! You're the jerk! Who dreams of having a third wheel?!"
Who is that idiot who only knows how to draw? Why is he in your dream?
These words struck Avery like a thunderclap.
He murmured:
"A dream? In a dream? Is this a dream?"
"Snap! Snap!"
The sound of shattering mirrors rang out, and the entire locker room rapidly crumbled and disintegrated, centered on Avery.
The Yao clan man behind him roared in resentment:
"You get all flustered the moment you hear about that idiot who draws pictures, and you still dare to call me a jerk?"
You woke me up, so you have to take responsibility for me! I will definitely come back!
When darkness descends once more.
Avery opened his eyes.
He looked around, but there was no changing room in sight.
There's no captain.
There is no male insect, Your Excellency.
He really was just having a dream.
The dream was so real that it's still vivid in my mind.
Avery stood up in disbelief, put on his pajamas, and opened all the closet doors in the room.
There was no one there.
There is no male insect hidden inside.
"Damn it, why am I having a dream too? Did I catch it from the captain?"
Avery patted his cheeks, his eyes filled with confusion and bewilderment.
To this day, he can still recall what the male insect looked like.
That was a face he had never seen in reality before.
Black hair, black eyes, very distinctive.
It was just dawn.
After quickly washing up, Avery immediately headed to the training ground for his morning workout.
He was somewhat absent-minded throughout the day.
During his rest, he didn't even look at his personal terminal; he just stared blankly, counting on his fingers, recalling the events of his dream, searching for clues.
And so, after that day...
A new group chat was quietly set up within the team.
The group chat was named "Heroes Who Saved Captain Bart and Avery".
The group chat was buzzing with discussion, with everyone speculating whether the captain's mental illness was contagious.
Even Avery has been infected.
