Chapter 11: My cousin didn’t come?
Huo Jingyuan kept an eye on Wen Ci. As the sunset glowed, the two walked in unison. His eyes swept across Wen Ci's face, "What were you like when you were little?"
"I?"
Wen Ci was paying attention to the environment in the capital. When he heard Huo Jingyuan's voice, he looked at him sideways and thought about his childhood memories: "I was born in the countryside. My adoptive parents deliberately exchanged me. In my impression, I had to do all kinds of work and couldn't get any good food."
Wen Ci had an extremely miserable childhood.
If he did not do what his adoptive parents wanted, he would be beaten.
As they get older, they no longer use physical force, but instead deliberately use cold violence. I thought the Jiang family would be a salvation, but it turned out to be another kind of hell.
Listening to Wen Ci's voice, Huo Jingyuan reached out and took Wen Ci's hand. The girl's palms were covered with calluses like his, which were all traces of hard work.
Huo Jingyuan felt distressed: "What about the Jiang family?"
"There is no emotion."
"I see."
After walking for a few minutes, Jiang Chen arrived at the entrance of the State-Owned Hotel. He had been waiting at the entrance for a long time. When he saw Wen Ci and Huo Jingyuan, he asked calmly, "Why are you here so late?"
Wen Ci retorted: "How much faster do you want?"
Jiang Chen was speechless. He looked up at Huo Jingyuan, not knowing how to address him.
Huo Jingyuan is older than him.
But his biological sister married Huo Jingyuan.
Strictly speaking, Huo Jingyuan is his brother-in-law.
Wen Ci's situation was different. After hesitating for a while, he shouted, "Comrade Huo, my parents are waiting for you inside."
Hearing this, Wen Ci blinked: "My cousin didn't come?"
Jiang Chen: “…”
He glanced at Wen Ci.
Wen Ci hid behind Huo Jingyuan, pursed his lips, and looked a little aggrieved: "Didn't my brother say in public today that Jiang Ye is my cousin?"
"Jiang! Ci!"
Wen Ci found it funny to see him getting so angry.
There is a small blackboard at the entrance of the state-owned restaurant, which lists the home-cooked dishes served today. The first floor is the lobby.
Wen Ci took the initiative to hold Huo Jingyuan's arm and walked into the state-owned restaurant. Seeing the words "Today's Special" written on the small blackboard, he couldn't help but blink.
Today's specials: braised pork, stewed noodles, Beijing roast duck, soft-fried meat, and beef stewed with potatoes.
Su Guilan booked a private room on the second floor. Unlike the hall, guests in the private room can order their own dishes and have them cooked by the chef himself.
Entering the box, Su Guilan and Jiang Zhen were both sitting in the main seats.
Huo Jingyuan greeted everyone one by one: "Hello, uncle and aunt."
Wen Ci sat next to Huo Jingyuan. After everyone arrived, the waiter brought the menu of the state-owned restaurant and handed it to Jiang Zhenjun who was sitting in the main seat.
Jiang Zhenjun took the menu and handed it to Huo Jingyuan: "The conditions in the northwest are tough. Xiao Huo, do you think there is anything you like to eat?"
Huo Jingyuan looked at Wen Ci and asked, "Is there anything you want to eat?"
Wen Ci subconsciously glanced at her biological parents. Her original self was subconsciously cautious in front of her biological parents. She curled her lips and said, "Then let's go with all the signatures!"
As the old saying goes, if you don’t eat it, you’ll waste it.
What's more, Wen Ci had given up the idea of breaking off the relationship. After this meal, maybe they wouldn't meet in the future, and they wouldn't have to spend money anyway.
"Is it too much?" Su Guilan asked worriedly.
The state-owned restaurant's signature dishes consisted of ten dishes and one soup. There were only five of them, so they definitely couldn't finish them all, and there would be a lot of leftovers.
Wen Ci replied: "Is this a lot? I won't be able to eat it again after I go to the Northwest to follow the army. Besides, it doesn't mean I can't pack it up if I can't finish it."
