Chapter 10: First Encounter

Chapter 10: First Encounter

Seeing that there were so many people on the opposite side, Sun Wei was frightened for a moment. He quickly put away the stone and said that he was just out for a walk.

"Are you out for a walk alone?" Wu Chong gave a strange smile.

Sun Wei heard someone joking in a vulgar tone: "This little girl is pretty, I wonder what she thinks she is like?"

She forced herself to remain calm, then suddenly had an idea. Unbeknownst to her, she found the courage to glare at them and say, "Who said I came alone? I came here with His Royal Highness Prince Yuzhang!"

Everyone burst into laughter.

Wu Chong sarcastically asked, "When did a fishing girl from Lingnan finally get to know His Royal Highness Prince Yuzhang?"

Sun Wei knew that these people were just bullies who only feared the strong and bullied the weak, so he said, "If you don't believe me, you can go and ask."

Sure enough, after these words were spoken, everyone became hesitant.

Sun Wei ignored them and ran away.

"Chase!"

Wu Chong came to his senses and shouted. Everyone chased after Sun Wei.

Sun Wei made up his mind and ran towards Prince Yuzhang.

The commotion alarmed Sima Jun and his guards. Before Wu Chong and his companions could catch up to Sun Wei, the palace guards had already surrounded them. Faced with the sword-wielding guards, Wu Chong and his companions surrendered.

Soon, Sima Jun came riding over. He looked down at the crowd from his horse and asked what had happened.

Sun Wei was worried about being exposed, so he had to ask first: "Your Highness asked me to wait here, didn't you forget?"

Sima Jun looked at her.

Looking down from a high place, his figure blocked the sun, his face was hidden from the light, and his expression could not be seen clearly.

"Your Highness, I'm sorry to have made you laugh." Wu rushed forward and bowed. "My sister has hysteria and speaks nonsense when she has an attack. I will take her back now."

After he said that, he was about to go up and catch Sun Wei.

Sun Wei's heart was in a state of panic. She quickly grabbed Sima Jun's reins and asked anxiously, "Your Highness, have you forgotten our agreement?"

Their eyes met, and she opened them wide, filled with horror.

She looked at that indifferent face and just when she thought there was no hope, she suddenly heard him speak.

"I'm looking for you. Who did you offend that's causing you to be so unreasonable?"

What happened next was beyond Sun Wei's expectations.

After Sima Jun finished speaking, he grabbed her belt with one hand, lifted her onto the horse, and rode away.

Sun Wei sat on the horse, his hands tightly grasping the horse's mane, his mind blank.

Sima Jun's arms were on both sides, and she was almost clinging to his arms.

The air around her was filled with the warmth and scent of a stranger, a scent she had never smelled before, and quite pleasant. She was stunned for a moment, but the fluttering of the wild goose at her feet brought her back to her senses.

She tried her best to straighten her back so that her back would not touch Sima Jun's chest.

"Thank you for your help, Your Highness." She murmured, her voice as thin as a mosquito.

Sima Jun didn't say anything, nor did he ask why she did this. He just put her down by the city wall and asked someone to send her back.

Before leaving, Sima Jun said, "Don't run around alone. I won't always help you."

Sun Wei watched his back as he sped away, thinking that although he was a kind man, his words were really unpleasant.

What does it mean to run around alone? She's clearly the one who suffered the most...

But she couldn't help but look back while complaining in her heart.

He looks really handsome when he rides a horse.

A prince, soaring freely. In her dreams, she should be like that too.

Only those who have power and influence can be the best people.

People like Wu Chong were so arrogant, but when they were in front of Sima Jun, they didn't dare to say a word with just a look from him, which was really satisfying.

That night, Sun Wei couldn't sleep all night.

If she had the same tremendous power as Prince Yuzhang, her family would not be bullied anymore, right?

But she is a woman.

Her mother was right. Even if she had a lot of knowledge, what good would it do? First, she couldn't become a scholar, and second, she couldn't be selected as a filial and honest official. Apart from her mother's family and her husband's family, she had no other hope.

Seeing that her mother's family could no longer attend the ceremony, perhaps only a good marriage could help her escape from this stagnant situation.

Sun Wei looked at the moonlight outside the window, lost in thought.
