Chapter 324: Ominous (Part 2)
After careful consideration, Sun Wei calmed down and said to Aju, "I have something I want to ask you."
A'ru saw her expression and knew something was wrong: "Go ahead."
Sun Wei took out a bracelet from the jewelry box and put it directly on Aju's wrist.
"What are you doing, Princess?" she asked hurriedly.
Sun Wei refused to let her take it off. "Listen to me first. I'm feeling very anxious today, and I have a feeling something is going to happen. If anything does happen, I will try to save myself. Don't worry about me. I hope you can help me protect Sun Qiao."
After hearing this, A'ru was very confused: "Young Master Sun has people in the palace to protect him, why does the princess want me to protect him?"
"I'll explain it to you later," Sun Wei hesitated for a moment and said, "Can you promise me?"
A'ru nodded, "How do you want me to protect Master Sun?"
"If something happens, you don't have to rush out of the city. Take Sun Qiao to the Yu Mansion to find Master Yu first. If Master Yu is not there either, take Sun Qiao to Xianglu Temple and ask Jingci for help, and then wait for an opportunity to leave the city. Shopkeeper Chen recognizes this bracelet, so you can take Sun Qiao back to Panyu and ask for his help."
"Why go to a place so far away?" A'ru asked, "I can take Master Sun to find the Crown Prince. If all else fails, Xunyang Palace is closer than Panyu."
Sun Wei couldn't let Sun Qiao fall into Sima Jun's hands.
If her identity is revealed, Sun Qiao will be implicated.
She wasn't sure whether Sima Jun would let Sun Qiao go.
"There's no need to go find the prince," Sun Wei said vaguely. "If something happens to me, the prince will also be implicated. Then Sun Qiao will be nothing more than a burden. You must do as I say."
"I understand," Aju said, repeating Sun Wei's words.
Sun Wei looked at her and said, "Then I will entrust Sun Qiao to you."
Although Aju didn't understand why Sun Wei cared so much about Sun Qiao, she knew that Sun Wei had her reasons for asking her to do so.
"Don't worry, I'll do what I promised you." She pressed on. "What about you?"
"Me? I have my own way." Sun Wei said, sitting down with her, "This is just the worst-case scenario. All the arrangements are just for precautions. You don't have to worry."
"I don't think so. What you said is most likely true." Aju said seriously, "I know you're hiding a lot of secrets that are inconvenient to tell me, so I won't ask. But you're always thinking about the safety of others and making arrangements for them. Have you ever considered that you're the one who's powerless and can't protect yourself more than anyone else, right?"
Sun Wei was startled for a moment, then smiled: "What's wrong with you? Are you scared?"
"I'm serious, don't take this lightly," A'ru said sternly. "I've watched you worry about the Crown Prince, and then you worry about Master Yu, and now you have Master Sun. Let me ask you, what are your plans for recovery?"
Sun Wei pretended to be relaxed: "Why don't I have a way out? I just didn't tell you."
"Then you should tell me about it so I can help you."
"Your abilities are limited, how can you possibly accomplish so much?" Sun smiled. "Just take my instructions to heart, and you'll be helping me."
"I will do what I promised," Aju glared at her, "and you better not lie to me."
"Why would I lie to you? I'm only nineteen, I still have a lot of life ahead of me. How can I count if I don't live to be seventy or eighty?"
Aju was still skeptical for a long time, and finally sighed.
"Never mind," she said. "It was I who decided to stay and help you."
Sun smiled and said, "That's it, thank you."
——
As night fell, a small boat sailed across the river.
When they arrived at the dock on the other side, a man got off the boat tremblingly and quickly hid in the bushes.
He whistled awkwardly and fell silent.
Suddenly, someone behind him chuckled, and in a moment, he was lifted up from behind.
He cried out in terror, "Knight, spare my life!"
There were flames all around, and a woman appeared in front of him. Seeing his slovenly appearance, the woman was very disgusted.
When Sun Zhi saw Yao Rong, he covered his chest and let out a long sigh.
He desperately escaped, and the person he was looking for was Yao Rong.
At that time in the Seventh Lieutenant's Department, Li Mo briefly explained the interests involved and then pointed out a way out for him.
"Young Master Sun must find a way to escape. Four days from now, at sunset, I have ordered Madam Yao to wait for him at Yunjin Ferry, thirty miles east of the city. No one will be waiting after that time."
So he pretended to go find Lu Ming with Deng Lian, and managed to slip away halfway.
"How did Master Sun escape?" Yao Rong asked.
Sun Zhi straightened his clothes and said, "We took advantage of the darkness and everyone's rest to escape."
Yao Rong raised an eyebrow: "Did anyone of them catch up with Master Sun?"
"Of course not. I have always avoided the main roads and walked along the mountains and forests. So they can't catch up with me?"
"I can't catch up with you?" Yao Rong looked around and said coldly, "Young Master Sun, you'd better remember my kindness. In order to save your life, I also risked my own."
After she said that, she told everyone to get on board quickly.
They quickly left the ferry and headed for the dock a mile away.
Night had completely fallen, with only a firelight burning not far away.
All he could hear were his men muttering, "Didn't we order all the torches to be extinguished? Where did the light come from?"
Yao Rong squinted her eyes and said coldly, "It's not a torch, it's the boat that's on fire."
As soon as he finished speaking, flames broke out all around them, surrounding them.
The bright torches made it impossible to open one's eyes.
Sun Zhi quickly hid behind Yao Rong, and then heard Yao Rong say, "My Lord, how are you?"
Sun Zhi looked over hastily and saw someone in the firelight saying, "Madam, long time no see. Has the Chief Secretary returned home safely?"
"Thank you, Your Highness, for your kindness," Yao Rong smiled. "The Chief Secretary has returned home safely."
"Madam, you are so reluctant to leave. Could it be that you want to report to me the whereabouts of the Chief Secretary?"
Yao Rong laughed and said, "Your Highness, you must be joking. I'm just here to pick someone up, as someone asked me to. I'll be leaving now."
"Oh? I wonder who entrusted you with this? Could it be the Chief Secretary?"
"It has nothing to do with the Chief Secretary," Yao Rong said. "The Chief Secretary has always been open and honest. He won't deny what's his."
"I'm asking about Madam." Sima Jun said.
"Please forgive me, my lord. I have nothing to say."
Sima Jun said nothing more, and said to Deng Lianling, "Capture him."
"Wait a minute," Yao Rong said, "The prince is looking for Mr. Lu, right?"
Yao Rong was right. Deng Lian found the village where Lu Ming had stayed, but the villagers said that Lu Ming had been taken away long ago.
As for who took him away, Sima Jun now has the answer.
"So it was Madam's handwriting," Sima Jun said, "Madam, you can tell me now."
Yao Rong smiled and said, "If the prince lets us go, I will be very grateful and will tell him the whereabouts of Mr. Lu."
Sima Jun remained unmoved.
Yao Rong hurriedly said, "If the prince doesn't return to the capital, it will be too late."
"What do you mean?"
"Mr. Lu has always dreamed of visiting the palace and telling the Queen Mother the Princess's secret. What will happen if the Queen Mother finds out? If the Crown Prince doesn't return, the Princess will be gone."
