Chapter 35 Blackmail

Chapter 35 Blackmail

"Get up!" He Lang didn't answer, but just pulled her to stand up.

Sun Wei did not resist and let him control her obediently.

"He Lang," she said calmly, "I'm just a concubine in name only. It's useless for you to hold me hostage. The prince wants to capture you, but he won't care about my life."

He Lang sneered, "That may not be the case. They say you have the ability to know everything. The Queen Mother, the Crown Prince, and the Crown Prince all treat you like a treasure. Even if he won't let me go, it's you who's got me into this situation. I might as well use you as a lifeline. Come with me out!"

The two maids were waiting outside the Buddhist hall. When they saw Sun Wei being carried out, they screamed in fright.

Not long after, footsteps were heard outside.

Deng Lian rushed in with the palace guards, and when he saw what was happening, he stopped in his tracks.

"He Lang!" Deng Lian shouted, "Injuring the princess is a capital crime! Don't do this!"

He Lang cursed, "Stop talking nonsense! Prepare a horse and let me leave the city! If anyone tries to stop me, I'll kill them!"

As he spoke, he held the knife tighter in his hand.

Deng Lian did not dare to provoke him. After hesitating for a moment, he had to order his men to prepare the horses and let them make way.

He Lang did not delay and ordered them to retreat ten feet away. Then, he still carried Sun Wei and walked outside.

There is no gate to the Buddhist temple. A stone path extends into the garden, passes through the palace garden, and leads directly to the side gate.

He Lang looked around and urged Sun Wei to hurry up.

Sun Wei was also anxious and was thinking about how to escape.

Just as I was walking past a rockery, a figure suddenly flashed by.

Before he could come to his senses, He Lang was already screaming. Then, someone twisted his arm and threw him to the ground.

Sun Wei almost fell down. When he looked carefully, he saw that the man was Sima Jun.

He was so strong that he dislocated He Lang's knife-holding hand and pinned him to the ground, causing him to scream in pain.

"Prince!" Deng Lian came with his men.

Sima Jun handed He Lang over to them and said coldly, "Take him away and interrogate him carefully."

Then, he looked at Sun Wei beside him and was stunned.

She was seen clutching her arm, her clothes stained with blood. During her struggle, she had been slashed by He Lang's dagger.

"It's okay." Seeing Sima Jun looking over, Sun Wei said, "It's just a minor flesh wound, not serious."

Sima Jun said nothing, walked over, took her hand away, and looked at the wound.

After the fight, his breathing was a little rapid. The wound felt a little stinging, not sure if it was from the pain or from the heat of his breath falling on it.

"It's not up to you to decide whether it's serious or not." Sima Jun said, putting his hand on the arm that was halfway away from the wound.

He was indeed very strong, and his hands seemed to be made of iron.

Sun Wei gasped in pain: "Be gentle!"

"Have you got a towel?" he asked.

Sun Wei couldn't move and gestured into the sleeve of his other hand.

Sima Jun reached into the sleeve, pulled out a handkerchief, and then quickly tied it tightly around the wound.

"Come here," he turned around, "Send the doctor here immediately."

——

When Sun Wei returned to Wufengyuan, Aju also rushed over and was very surprised.

"How could this happen?" she asked anxiously, "How could the people in the palace be so lazy that they actually let such a vicious person kidnap the princess!"

Sun Wei said: "It's nothing, it's all over. Just some minor injuries, nothing serious."

A'ru said, "It looks like a flesh wound. How do you know if the knife was poisoned?"

After saying that, she looked at the wound carefully and was surprised to see the towel tied by Sima Jun.

"The prince knows quite a bit," she said. "He must be afraid the knife might be poisoned."

After saying this, she couldn't help but admire him and said, "So, the princess had been held at knifepoint by He Lang, but the prince actually rescued her with his bare hands? He's really quite skilled!"

Sun Wei immediately sneered.

"Good skills?" she said. "But I'm injured."

"That's unavoidable," A'ru said seriously. "Princess, you must know how difficult it is to save someone when a knife is at your neck. Both strength and skill are required. If there's even the slightest mistake, the knife will cut your neck. I think the princess's wound was accidentally inflicted when she was trying to escape. You can't blame the prince. Besides, if the prince hadn't saved the princess then, what would have happened if the thieves had abducted her from the palace?"

Sun Wei knew Sima Jun was incredibly skilled. In a previous life, he had led her through a siege, even though he was seriously injured and had personally killed over a dozen people.

Aju was right. The injury was indeed caused when she was struggling to escape.

Strangely enough, when she caught a glimpse of the figure, she already knew it was Sima Jun.

There was no sign, no reason, she just knew.

Aju was getting excited and wanted to discuss martial arts with Sun Wei. Fortunately, the doctor came.

After a thorough inspection, the doctor said, "Don't worry, Princess. The knife is not poisonous. I will apply a dose of golden wound medicine to you. The wound will heal in half a month."

Sun Wei thanked him.

She appeared calm, but that was only on the surface. After applying the medicine, she ate, washed up, and felt incredibly tired. Soon, she fell asleep.

This sleep was not deep, half asleep and half awake. In my ears, I could hear the interlaced voices:

——Let’s go, live well…

——"Is the lady feeling better?"

——Lately, I keep dreaming about the time when you and I first met...

——Awei...

Sun Wei suddenly opened her eyes.

The room was brightly lit.

Her whole body was drenched in sweat, and she felt as if she was lying in water, which was very uncomfortable. She wiped the sweat off her face, and woke up Aju beside her.

Aju rubbed her eyes, touched her forehead with her hand, and breathed a sigh of relief.

"After the Madam fell asleep, she developed a fever and talked a lot of nonsense," she said. "The prince summoned a doctor to see her. The doctor said that the Madam was frightened and a cold wind entered her body. Fortunately, she took some medicine and the fever has subsided. I will change Madam's clothes now."

Sun Wei responded, only to feel his whole body heavy. He was indeed sick.

Looking towards the window again, a little sunlight was shining through the veil, and it was almost the hour of Mao.

She propped herself up and sat up, the intertwined scenes in her dream resurfaced in her mind, and she felt a mixture of emotions.

Those painful memories came back again, it’s better not to sleep at all.

Sun Wei heard the sound of rain outside. She stood up, opened the door, and looked in. It was indeed raining. A cool breeze was refreshing.

"Let's go to the Buddhist temple." After changing clothes, she said to Aju.

A'ru was stunned: "The princess injured her hand, is she still going to copy scriptures?"

"It's just the left hand that's injured, the right hand is fine."

Aju looked incredulous.

Sun Wei didn't explain much, but just urged: "The hour of Mao is approaching, don't delay."

She naturally wanted to rest more, but she also knew that, just like when she first arrived in the capital, she needed to gain a firm foothold. To achieve this, the person she couldn't afford to offend the most was not Sima Jun, but the Empress Dowager.
