Chapter 353: Temporary Residence (Part 1)
Yin Wen nodded and said, "My Lady, you know that the streets and alleys are now covered with bounty notices for your head. Starting this morning, the city gates have been strictly checking anyone leaving the city, even more strictly than before."
"That's why I need Captain Yin's help." Sun Wei said.
Yin Wen thought for a moment and said, "Your Highness has made perfect arrangements for this teahouse. Your Highness will be safe here. I will send someone to wait at the city gate. When the guards relax, I will escort your Highness out of the city."
Sun Wei thought about it and decided that this method should be the most reliable.
"But I had previously agreed with Aru to meet at our place outside the city. If I stay here, she won't be able to get any news from me."
"This is easy to handle." Yin Wen said, "I can send someone to deliver a letter to Aru to reassure her."
"Then I'll have to trouble Captain Yin." Sun Wei said.
When Yin heard that it was agreed, he hurried to do it.
But not long after, he turned back.
"Your Highness's men sent Aju here." He said to Sun Wei.
Sun Wei was surprised. Not long after, he heard footsteps outside and Aju walked in.
She was wearing the clothes of an official servant, and it was obvious that she had changed them in the provincial capital.
"Why are you here?" Sun Wei asked hurriedly.
Ah Ru did not answer, but only asked her: "Is His Highness giving you a hard time?"
Thinking of Sima Jun's back as he left, Sun Wei just shook his head and said, "Let's not talk about this. How are you doing over there?"
A'ru sighed and said, "Although he was shackled, he could still use his fists and feet. I only managed to stab him in the abdomen. Just as I was about to strike, the prince suddenly appeared. I had no choice but to run for my life, but I don't know if I stabbed him to death."
"How did you get here?" Sun Wei asked, "Did His Highness's men find you?"
A Ru was a little embarrassed and glanced at Yin Wen beside her: "Others didn't recognize me, but Lu Qiuyan and Deng Lian recognized me."
Sun Wei was stunned.
She could understand that Deng Lian could recognize A Ru. But Lu Qiuyan...
"Lü Qiuyan recognized you?"
Aju nodded. "I was masked when I took action, but he knew I was sent by you. He told me to say hello to you, and that if he survived the disaster, he would definitely find a way to find you."
There is such a thing.
Sun Wei was sure that no one else would know about this except her, A'ru and Yu, but Lu Qiuyan actually recognized A'ru.
I think, after the previous few fights, he already knows who in this world is most eager to kill him.
How terrifying this kid is.
"Did you speak to him?"
"Of course not," Aju said, "I know this person is very cunning, so it's best to ignore him."
Sun Wei understood and asked, "What about Deng Lian?"
"I left the prison and immediately went to the nearby woodshed to change into the menial clothes left behind by the Yu family. But by then, the crown prince had already arrived, and the entire prefecture was under heavy security, with only entry allowed, not exit. In a moment of desperation, I suddenly saw Deng Lian and had no choice but to ask him for help."
"Deng Lian knows it was you who did it?"
"Not long after I left the prison, the jailer discovered that Lü Qiuyan had been assassinated. The entire prefecture was in turmoil, and Deng Lian figured it out with a simple guess."
"Then he still helped you escape?"
"Exactly. It happened so suddenly. If it weren't for his help, I'm afraid I wouldn't be able to escape now."
"That's a blessing," Sun Wei breathed a sigh of relief, "I'm glad you can get out."
Ah Ru was a little unhappy. "It's just that his words were really harsh. He said that you and I were ignorant of the heavens and the earth, and dared to go to the provincial capital to kill people. I didn't agree and called him ungrateful. You already have a bounty on your head, and you still always think about His Highness. There is no one else like you in heaven and on earth."
Sun Wei felt somewhat helpless and said, "Why are you angry with him? Don't you know what kind of personality Deng Lian has? He was just worried about you and me being in danger, so he said something harsh in the moment."
"Who wants him to worry?" Aju sneered.
Sun Wei patted her hands, feeling worried.
As they were talking, footsteps were heard outside and someone was calling Yin Wen.
Yin Wen went out for a while and came back with a serious expression.
"Lüqiu Yan was assassinated in prison. The Crown Prince immediately ordered the governor to seal off the city and send out people to search house by house for suspicious people. Your Highness just sent someone to inform you that the lady must not leave."
After saying that, Yin Wen glanced at Aju.
"I was the one who did it, so what?" Aju straightened her chest and raised her head and said.
Yin Wen smiled and bowed, "Aru is mighty, mighty."
Sun Wei asked, "Is Lüqiu Yan dead or alive now? Has Captain Yin got any news?"
"It's said he's still alive and breathing," Yin Wen said. "He would have died if we hadn't saved him, but the Crown Prince ordered a rescue. I heard he was quite forceful, even sending in all the doctors in the city. Now, it's hard to say."
A'ru said angrily, "What kind of monster is that Lu Qiuyan? He can't die again and again, and now he has the crown prince protecting him? It really makes me angry."
Sun Wei pondered in silence.
A'ru continued, "Since he's not dead, then everyone in the prefecture knows that I was the assassin, right?"
"Don't worry, Lü Qiuyan will just say it was me." Sun Wei said, then asked Yin Wen, "I wonder what Captain Yin thinks I should do now?"
"Given the current situation, this place is a good place to take shelter, but it's unsafe to stay overnight," Yin Wen said. "If we want to stay overnight, we might need to find another place."
"Captain Yin is right," Sun Wei mused. She and A'ru were no longer able to leave the city, and returning to the farmhouse where they were staying was out of the question.
"Your Highness has been staying in the provincial capital due to the Lu Qiuyan incident, and his residence in Sifang Pavilion is empty. No one dares to investigate there. I believe that your Highness will be safer if she lives in Sifang Pavilion."
Sun Wei was stunned.
A'ru glanced at Sun Wei, then glared at Yin Wen. "Captain Yin, this is a bad idea. Your Highness and your Lady are no longer related, so how could you possibly live in your Highness's residence without knowing why?"
Yin Wen smiled bitterly and said, "I know I've wronged you, my lady. But in times of crisis, this is the only way to compromise."
A'ru said nothing and glanced at Sun Wei again.
Yin Wen also glanced at Sun Wei.
Sun Wei thought for a moment and asked Yin Wen, "I wonder if Captain Yin is aware of this proposal, Your Highness?"
Yin Wen rolled his eyes and said, "Your Highness is aware of this. This was my idea. If the Lady has no objection, I will raise this with Your Highness. Your Highness understands the greater good and will surely agree."
"Thank you, Captain Yin, for your kindness. I am already a criminal. If I were to be recognized at the Sifang Pavilion, Your Highness would be implicated. This would go against my original intention, so I cannot agree. Captain Yin, do you have any other solutions?"
Yin Wen laughed dryly.
"You are right, my lady," he sighed. "Then I will have to inconvenience you and let you stay in another house temporarily."
——
The house Yin Wen mentioned as his temporary residence was actually two houses facing different directions. The two houses were back to back, with their main gates opening onto different alleys. Although seemingly unrelated, they were actually connected by a secret door.
"These two houses belong to the same person. Back then, I heard there was a feud between his wife and concubines, so he decided to live in two separate houses, with a door in the middle for easier access. Now the owner has left Liyang and returned to his hometown. Both houses are vacant, and you, my lady, can choose to live in either one. If the authorities come to investigate, you can use this secret door to take shelter in the other house, and you'll be safe."
"That's great." Sun Wei nodded.
A'ru curiously closed and opened the door, saying, "This mechanism is quite unique. Didn't Captain Yin just return from Guangzhou? How did he find this house so quickly?"
Yin Wen smiled and said, "It wasn't my credit, it was someone else who found it."
As he was speaking, the housekeeper brought over some tea and asked with a smile, "Mr. Deng, have you been busy lately? Why haven't you come for several days?"
Ah Ru blinked and asked, "What Master Deng? Deng Lian?"
