Chapter 352: Meeting (Part 2)
Yu complied with all of Sun Wei's requests and left her a carriage and a driver. After they parted, Sun Wei asked the driver to take her to the academy where they had agreed to meet.
The academy is not far from the west city gate.
When Sun Wei set out, it was still early, and Liyang City was just waking up. The soldiers guarding the city were yawning and slouching. On the road, only farmers from outside the city were carrying fruits and vegetables into the city. There were not many people in front of the academy, so it was relatively quiet.
Sun Wei asked the coachman to stop the carriage at an intersection, got off the carriage, walked into the alley opposite the academy, and hid in the dark.
She was always feeling uneasy.
But then I changed my mind and asked myself, what am I so worried about?
She believed she had done the right thing. Her departure would be better for everyone. But Yu Yi said Sima Jun was a little angry, as if she had made some serious mistake.
It would be better if you didn't get fooled by him.
Sun Wei secretly said to herself, Even if I meet Sima Jun, I should do so with confidence and righteousness.
Besides, even if he was angry, what could he do to her?
Kill her?
Anyway, in the eyes of the Queen Mother, she deserved to die.
It’s not like I haven’t died before, a voice in my heart said.
Sun Wei mustered her courage and looked towards the academy. Suddenly, she remembered the look Sima Jun had given her on the day before they parted.
——I will protect my wife.
My heart seems to be twisted by something.
She wanted to tell him then that she didn't need his protection.
Sun Wei stayed in the alley, thinking alone.
After waiting for nearly three incense sticks, she realized that she was being too sentimental.
Sima Jun did not show up.
The letter was sent secretly by Yu Shi, so there will be no mistakes.
Sima Jun didn't show up because he didn't want to see her.
Sun Wei waited a little longer, but more and more people came into the city, and she could wait no longer.
What's more, it's useless to wait any longer.
Since Sima Jun did not come here, he did not leave the provincial capital.
According to the agreement between her and Aju, Aju should have returned to her residence, and she should have gone to the post station to meet Aju.
Just as he was about to walk towards the carriage, Sun Wei suddenly heard the rumbling sound of horse hooves coming from the city gate, as if they were coming this way.
Hearing the noise, passers-by quickly stepped aside.
Sun Wei also followed to the side of the road and looked towards the west gate.
Not long after, a group of people were seen galloping in from outside the city. They were dressed neatly and carried ceremonial guards, exuding an awe-inspiring air.
People around were talking and guessing who this person was.
When Sun Wei saw the ceremonial procession clearly, his heart sank. It was actually the Eastern Palace!
This is hitting the edge of a knife.
She turned abruptly, lowered her head, and managed to blend into the crowd.
But after all, there were not many people on the road, so she could only walk forward with her head down, hoping that no one would notice her.
But it was too early, the shops on the street were not open yet, and the alley where she was hiding was not accessible for the time being. Not long after, the group of people passed by Sun Wei, and the sound of horse hooves was like thunder, as if it was pressing down from behind her head.
Suddenly, the door of a nearby house opened, and a hand reached out and pulled her in.
Sun Wei's tiny cry of surprise was drowned out by the rumbling of horse hooves.
In the morning light, she opened her eyes wide and looked at the face that was so close to her.
Sima Jun.
Outside, the sound of horse hooves galloped by. When the noise died down, Sima Jun finally let go of his hand.
Sun Wei stood up straight, his back against the door, motionless.
The two were so close that Sun Wei could almost feel his breath.
"You said you had something important to tell me. What is it?" Sima Jun asked in a low voice, neither hurried nor slow.
Sun Wei felt his mind go blank, and all his previous plans were completely forgotten.
She swallowed for a moment, then pointed outside and said, "The prince is here."
Sima Jun still looked at her: "I know."
Sun Wei was speechless for a moment.
It was quiet all around, and she could hear the footsteps of passers-by through the door.
She felt a little uneasy under his gaze and wanted to open the door and run out, but Sima Jun said, "Don't go to the street, come with me."
After saying that, Sima Jun turned and went into the house.
Sun Wei hesitated for a moment and followed silently.
This is a house facing the street. You go through the small front yard and the house to the backyard.
There was no one there, so Sima Jun opened the back door and walked into the alley with Sun Wei.
He turned left and right, and soon he walked out along the narrow path at the base of the wall.
Suddenly the view in front of them opened up and they found themselves in a busy city.
Sima Jun led Sun Wei and turned to walk into a teahouse at the end of the alley. Yin Wen was already waiting inside the teahouse. Seeing Sima Jun and Sun Wei arrive, he bowed briefly. Sima Jun said nothing more and went straight up to the second floor and into the private room.
He looked around and said to Sun Wei, "This place is very safe. You can stay until you want to leave."
Sun Wei was stunned for a moment and said, "Concubine..."
Sima Jun continued, "Tell Yin Wen where you're going, and he'll make arrangements for you. If you need to leave Liyang, he'll find reliable drivers and boatmen. If you don't want me to know where you're going, that's fine. Just make plans once you're somewhere safe. That way, I won't know."
After Sima Jun gave a brief instruction, he turned around and was about to leave.
Sun Wei was stunned for a moment, then suddenly said, "Wait a minute, my lord."
Sima Jun paused.
Sun Wei stepped forward and looked at him: "Lü Qiuyan..."
"Aru isn't here," Sima Jun interrupted, "She went to look for Lü Qiuyan, didn't she?"
Sun Wei suddenly opened her eyes wide.
"The Crown Prince has already arrived in Liyang. I must return immediately." Sima Juan said calmly, "Since you have decided to leave, there is no need to ask any more questions."
Sun Wei was silent for a moment, then took a deep breath and said, "I have overstepped my bounds. Your Highness, please go quickly."
Sima Jun's expression remained calm. He said "hmm" and turned to leave.
Sun Wei walked quickly to the window and saw Sima Jun quickly mount his horse and gallop away.
When they met again, they still didn't say goodbye.
He didn't even bother to question anything.
Maybe this ending is the best.
My heart suddenly felt empty.
Sun Wei felt that she should be relieved, but for some reason, she couldn't be happy at all.
She didn't know how long she stood there before she heard a knock on the door. She turned around and saw Yin Wen coming in with a tea tray.
"This teahouse is closed today. Your Highness, you can take a rest here. If you have any instructions, I will do it for you." He said respectfully.
"I'm no longer a concubine," Sun Wei said, "Captain Yin, there's no need to be polite to me."
"That's fine," Yin Wen smiled. "Your Highness is still so young, yet you're being called a concubine. I don't think that's right."
Sun Wei also smiled faintly.
He knew in his heart that Yin Wen must have been instructed by Sima Jun to say this.
Now, she has cut all ties with the past and no longer needs to pretend to be Lu Xian in front of anyone.
As for Lu Qiuyan, since Sima Jun came to see her, Aju had the opportunity to take action.
I just hope she succeeds.
"Aru and I are about to meet outside the city. Captain Yin, could you take me there?"
"As you command." Yin Wen said, "I wonder if my lady is going on a long journey?"
"Exactly. I'm leaving Liyang, and Aru should be waiting for me."
