"Getting the kids into school is easy; just find someone to give a few gifts and spend some money, and it'll be done. Besides, the quality of education in this provincial capital is definitely better than in your hometown."
Shi Xuexin was deeply moved by everyone's kindness. "What you all said makes sense. I'll think about it carefully when I get back after we pack up."
Shi Qiuyun's eyes were bright and sparkling. She wanted to stay in the provincial capital and didn't want to go back to her hometown to face those annoying people and things.
The male stall owner frying dough sticks next door overheard some conversation and came over to say, "Opening a shop isn't that simple. Don't be fooled! Even if that young man has some skills, without someone protecting him, he'll be in trouble with all sorts of people coming to his door."
The female stall owner also pursed her lips and said, "Yeah, a relative of mine opened a small restaurant, and before he's even made any money, he's already spent a lot of money dealing with all sorts of inspections. If you ask me, we should just stick to our stall! Don't do those useless things, or you'll end up losing everything, and there'll be no going back!"
The couple's back-and-forth conversation somewhat extinguished the flame of confidence that had been burning in Shi Xuexin's heart, and also made Shi Qiuyun frown.
What they didn't know was that the couple selling fried dough sticks were green with envy.
I wonder how they've been running this morning market for so long, and yet they've never encountered such a wonderful thing?
Unfortunately, they were caught up with by a father and daughter who came from out of town.
If you have the ability to open a shop, who would want to set up a stall?
After packing up his stall, Shi Xuexin pushed his donkey backwards and slowly walked towards his relative's house.
Shi Qiuyun was also helping out.
Unlike before, the two remained silent, each lost in their own thoughts.
After an unknown amount of time, Shi Xuexin suddenly spoke up, "Xiaoyun, do you think this is a reliable plan?"
Shi Xuexin is almost 40 years old. He has experienced a lot and gained some experience, but he doesn't know if the windfall he suddenly receives will turn into a trap, leaving him feeling lost and uncertain.
Shi Qiuyun turned to look at her father, whose hair had already turned white. "I feel that person is a good person, and doesn't seem to be trying to fool us."
What she didn't say was that, for some reason, she felt an inexplicable closeness to that person and inexplicably believed his words.
Shi Xuexin nodded. "He doesn't seem like a bad person; his eyes are very upright. But opening a shop isn't as easy as the fried dough stick stall owner said. Besides, you'll be in your final year of junior high when school starts again. Let me think about it carefully."
Shi Qiuyun really wanted to say that she could keep up even after transferring schools, but she swallowed the words back down.
Because it's clear that we need to consider not only her schooling, but also her hometown, and the various problems and troubles that will arise when opening a shop.
The father and daughter walked for another ten minutes before finally reaching the street near their relative's house.
Shi Xuelin's cousin, Wang Min, happened to come out carrying a bucket to empty it. Seeing them return, she put one hand on her hip and asked, "How did sales go today?"
Shi Xuelin said with a smile, "They're all sold out."
"Looks like business is pretty good." Wang Min's gaze shifted downwards, glancing at the bulging pouch hanging from Shi Xuelin's waist. "Sigh, prices for all sorts of things have gone up again. Now everyone's saying that those who work are tired, and those who set up stalls are getting fat. If this keeps up, we'll have to think about selling wontons too, otherwise we won't even be able to afford meat at home, that would be too miserable."
The neighbors sitting outside the gate all cast gossipy glances at them.
Since these two relatives came to visit, there has been a lot of liveliness, which has added some spice to our otherwise quiet life.
Shi Xuelin stared intently at Wang Min. "Auntie, I remember cutting a piece of meat for the family yesterday. Didn't you eat it? It's hot now, it won't keep well."
"What good is that little bit of meat? It's not even enough to fill a tooth gap!"
Wang Min simply stopped holding back and blurted out what she wanted to say like a machine gun.
"Dalinzi, don't blame me for being blunt. I know you and your father are having a hard time, and we're trying our best to help, since we're relatives. But you got up at three in the morning, and even though you were careful, you still made a lot of noise, which made it hard for the rest of the family to sleep. Everyone at work is sleepy."
"How about this, you could either give your family an extra 5 yuan a day to make up for it with some good food, or find a suitable place to move out..."
Both Shi Xuelin and his daughter were shocked by her outrageous demands.
Because they had already paid a month's rent and frequently bought things for the house.
Now they want to pay 5 yuan a day, it's no different from robbery.
The neighbors were also surprised and murmured among themselves.
Although workers' wages have increased somewhat, with some earning over a hundred or two hundred yuan, five yuan a day is still quite a lot.
“Aunt, we don’t make much money from setting up an early market here after deducting costs.”
Shi Qiuyun's eyes reddened with anger. "Yeah, how much does a bowl of wontons cost? And we still have to pay management fees."
Wang Min pursed her lips and said, "Don't try to play the poor card with me. Do you think we don't know how profitable selling wontons is? If you can pay 5 yuan, you can continue to stay at our house. If you can't, you'd better find somewhere else to stay."
Shi Xuelin felt a fire burning in his chest, realizing that this was a well-prepared attack.
"Okay, then we won't trouble our aunt any further. We'll look for a place in the next couple of days."
Wang Min clearly hadn't expected Shi Xuelin to choose to move out, and muttered, "But there's still more than half a month until school starts."
The implication is that it's not easy to find a place to rent for only half a month, so it's better to give them the money.
Shi Qiuyun said angrily, "We know."
Shi Xuelin was unwilling to waste any more words, and he was really tired after getting up at 3 a.m. and working until now.
Seeing the father and daughter push the donkey backwards into the yard and then unload their things into the annex where they lived, Wang Min snorted coldly.
