Chapter Thirty-Three: A Mixed Taste

Song Daming and his group probably wouldn't think much about the relationship between Gu Wei and Zhong Xiang.

Those around Zhong Xiang, however, were very concerned.

Even from the moment the two sides met, Zhong Xiang's attitude and subtle actions were extremely intriguing.

Furthermore, the handsome young man, who looked to be only in his early twenties, was able to act so naturally as if he were brothers with Zhong Xiang, who was over fifty. It would be impossible for him to do so without some strength and ability.

"Old Zhong, you've been riding high lately, landing such a big order. Just treat us old guys to some seafood, okay?"

"Yeah, we've known each other for so many years. You can eat your fill of meat, but you can leave us some broth."

Zhong Xiang chuckled and said, "Don't worry, brothers. I, Old Zhong, am not the kind of person who's petty."

"We're relieved to hear that. By the way, who was that handsome guy we met at the door just now?"

"Where did you meet your younger brother?"

Gu Wei is Zhongxiang's biggest trump card; it's no wonder he wouldn't tell the truth.

Therefore, no matter how they probed and questioned, they received no answers.

This led to various speculations in their minds.

Little did Gu Wei know that his true identity had been the subject of much speculation.

It was even shrouded in mystery.

After leaving the restaurant, they went to a karaoke bar to sing.

Gu Wei's singing is so-so; he prefers listening to others sing.

He was enjoying Song Daming and Cao Zhengqi's quirky duet when his cell phone in his pants pocket started buzzing.

Gu Wei took out his phone and saw that it was a call from Zhong Xiang.

He gestured to Chen Wu, then went outside to answer the call.

After chatting for a while, Zhongxiang asked, "Brother, I saw the advertisement for that century-old wild ginseng. It's going to be auctioned in Beijing next week. Are you going?"

"No, I have things to do." Gu Wei didn't want to go to the venue to see the auction; it didn't matter whether he went or not.

Zhong Xiang also knew that Gu Wei's restaurant was under renovation and probably couldn't leave.

"Brother, we've known each other for a while, but we've never sat down for a meal and a chat together. When are you free? I'd like to invite you."

"Brother Zhong, you're too kind."

Gu Wei did not object to getting closer to Zhong Xiang.

As the saying goes, having more friends means having more options.

Moreover, after several interactions, he felt that this was a person worth befriending.

The two quickly arranged a time and ended the call.

Zhong Xiang put down his phone and happily patted his big head.

Gu Wei, this little brother, may be a bit eccentric, but he's actually quite capable.

Without the medicinal wine that catered to his preferences, he wouldn't have been able to close this big deal recently.

Therefore, it is essential to maintain a good relationship between the two of them.

He will definitely reap the benefits then...

After singing, Gu Wei and the others went for barbecue, then returned to the hotel and played games together.

The four of them really felt like they were back in their dorm days.

However, Gu Wei has been spending a lot of time in the 84 area lately, going to bed early and waking up early, with a very regular and healthy schedule.

I'm not used to staying up so late all of a sudden, and my eyelids are drooping.

Later, Gu Wei kept yawning and couldn't hold on any longer.

"You guys play, I'm going to sleep now."

Song Daming quickly said, "No way! The little prince of staying up late is getting excited!"

Chen Wu: "Fourth brother, get up and keep going."

Cao Zhengqi: "Where's your competitive spirit?"

All I want to do right now is sleep.

Gu Wei took a quick shower, went into the suite, and fell asleep immediately.

However, Song Daming and his two companions later had another drinking session in high spirits.

Chen Wu drank quite a bit by the end, and even started crying while hugging Song Daming, his eyes glazed over.

"Damn, I'm so envious of Lao Si! I'm busy like a grandson every day, from nine to nine. I finally managed to get a rented place, but I don't even want to move. I'm as tired as a dead dog."

“If I could earn more, I would accept it, but after deducting food, clothing, housing and transportation, there is hardly any money left! Sometimes I really want to go back to my hometown, but there are no good job opportunities there, and I am not willing to accept it.”

Cao Zhengqi gulped down several mouthfuls of beer, then said with a wry smile, "Who the hell isn't! No matter what, you're still in Beijing, a bustling metropolis, which sounds good. Back home, my salary is only a little over three thousand. If it weren't for my parents' support, I wouldn't even be able to have a girlfriend! I can't even support myself... let alone buy a car or a house."

Song Daming's right shoulder was being held tightly by his boss, so he had to reach out his left hand and rub his face vigorously. "I'm even worse off than you guys! I don't even deserve a two-day weekend. If I have something to do on Saturday, I have to ask for leave, and the boss keeps nagging and making a fuss."

"I didn't realize it when I first graduated, but after a while I found out that only those who are broke go to work, while those who have money can eat, drink, and have fun to their heart's content. I envy David more than you guys do, but what can we do when we don't have that kind of luck? Everyone has their own destiny."

The three of them turned to look at Gu Wei, who was sleeping peacefully in the room.

Everyone felt a mix of emotions.

Previously, Gu Wei was unemployed and couldn't find a job, even resorting to setting up a street stall, making him the worst off among the four.

Who would have thought that fortunes could change so drastically, and suddenly someone would win the lottery and become rich?

In the past, they were arrogant and thought they could conquer the world.

Finally, after leaving campus and entering society, they are thoroughly defeated by reality.

the next day.

When Gu Wei woke up, he found the sunlight outside the window dazzling; it was already past ten in the morning.

The three were scattered in different places, fast asleep, snoring away in turn.
