Chapter 21: Better to please His Majesty
Knowing that he was complaining about the extra work, the young man listened silently and said nothing.
Amidst the man's curses and insults, they arrived at a remote little house where three or two people were queuing in front.
When Tu Xing and the other person stood in front of the window, the person inside looked up, stayed at the face of the fair-skinned young man for two seconds, and then his expression returned to normal.
"Who are you?"
Tu Xing: "Cyril, new guard, register your name."
"Oh..." A square-faced man in his fifties brought a booklet and placed it in front of the man. He then threw a pen at him and said, "Write."
Seeing this, Tu Xing breathed a sigh of relief. It was actually simpler than he had imagined. He picked up the pen and started writing, then handed the booklet back to the other party.
The square-faced man lowered his head: "Who recommended you?"
Hearing this, Tu Xing looked at Saleh and asked, but the other party avoided his gaze and was not prepared to speak.
After a two-second pause, the young man said, "The guards of Xilinlai brought me here."
The square-faced man suddenly shouted, "Who recommended you here?"
Tu Xing had a blank expression on his face, and lowered his eyes to hide the cold light in them.
Looking at the situation, he could only utter the name: "Shilin."
The square-faced man looked at Saleh and said, "How come I didn't know you were Shilin's? Show me your badge."
The dark-skinned Saleh lowered his head and held out a metal square with both hands:
"I work in the stables. He was indeed brought here by the Shilinlai guard. I met that guard once."
“Oh——” The square-faced man looked up and down and threw the sign back to Saleh.
Then, he looked at the very fair-skinned young man with a stern expression: "Why didn't the guard bring you to me first?"
"You know, killers, assassins, and pagans all get in this way."
Tu Xing's heart skipped a beat at one of the words, and he quickly replied, "Xilin Lai doesn't often bring people in, so you might have forgotten about it. She wants me to hone my skills in the outer realm for a while, and not be registered under her name."
After a pause, he asked, "No one in the world can hurt Your Majesty. Is that too much?"
The square-faced man looked troubled. "It's one thing not to hurt His Majesty, but if we make His Majesty angry, we will be the ones to die."
"Either you ask someone from Xilinlai to come and get the badge, or I have an identity that needs filling. It won't affect your training, and you can correct it if there are any changes later."
Tu Xing had a cold face, and he seemed to understand the man's intentions. "Where is the original person?"
The square-faced man said, "She died of illness. It's too late for her to go to His Majesty's bedroom tonight."
The young man, who was about to refuse, hesitated when he heard the destination.
Anyway, I had the retrospective pocket watch in my hand, so I nodded in agreement and caught up with the progress that was delayed during the day.
Tu Xing raised his eyes, "Okay, fill in her identity."
The square-faced man couldn't contain his joy and his hands quickened. "The sign needs engraving. Please wait over there. There are people behind to take care of other things."
The young man nodded and moved to the side.
Saleh also took two steps toward him and asked in a low voice, "Do you really want to meet His Majesty in this capacity?"
Tu Xing raised his eyes: "What do you want to say?"
Saleh scorned him: "The first time I saw you, I knew you wanted to climb the social ladder. Your face was full of ambition."
Tu Xing narrowed his eyes slightly and looked puzzled. Is that true?
Saleh lowered his voice mysteriously, "Those are beautiful women for your majesty's amusement. Men are rare, but not unheard of. They will all be dead by tomorrow morning, and most will die by midnight."
"Tsk, the death was horrific, others couldn't escape it, and you still..."
Someone from the side interrupted loudly, "Hey! Saleh, what are you still doing here? Have you finished your work in the stables? If you're not busy, I'll give you some other work."
Saleh suddenly raised his head and said, "I'm busy now, don't add any more work!"
He didn't even bother to look at the young man again, turned around and ran away, his back looking panicked.
The square-faced man poked his head out and said to the young man, "You're a man, so His Majesty might not be interested in you. Taking this opportunity to become a personal guard or something like that is no easier than starting out as a stable boy."
"There are always risks, otherwise how can you expect good things to happen to you?"
He looked at the person waiting in front of him, "right?"
The dark-skinned man said dully, "Yes."
Tu Xing looked calm, "That's what you said."
The square-faced man looked very satisfied and said, "When the time comes, ask them to change you into nice clothes."
…
At eight o'clock in the evening, in a small room next to the magnificent hall, two people were whispering.
"It's a man, His Majesty won't blame me, right?"
"I don't think so. She looks good, young and clean. It's rare to see someone like that. Do you have any clothes?"
The young man sitting on the chair in the middle ate the food calmly. After all, he had to eat and drink enough to have strength.
After swallowing the last bite, a woman came forward with clothes in her hands, her face a little tense, "Please change."
Tu Xing took it over. The fabric was a bit thin and small, and the style was extremely cool.
After a quick glance, his starry eyes moved towards them and asked, "Do you want to change here?"
The woman kept saying, "It's all right, we are all women anyway. Oh no, if you don't mind, we definitely don't mind."
She added: "It has to be in this room, and we have to face you, and you can have your back to us."
Hearing this, the young man turned his back to them, shook out his backpack and let it slide to his feet, then took off all his clothes.
Just as I was about to put on the new one, I heard a whisper from behind: "Do you want to take a shower?"
"You look so calm, are you doing this voluntarily? Why not wash and perfume yourself? That will please His Majesty better."
Tu Xing looked back, picked up the package, and said happily, "Okay."
After about ten minutes, the young man came out fresh from the oven, with some moisture all over his body and a few strands of hair hanging on his forehead.
The woman held a towel and pointed to the seat next to her: "Sit here and wipe your hair."
Tu Xing walked forward with the package, took a few steps and sat down, listening to the noises of the two women tinkering.
"Draw two symmetrical gold lines. Your Majesty likes shiny gold things."
"Mashiro, there's no beauty like this in the palace yet."
The young man listened to the two people's chattering casually and searched the pockets of his clothes. The fabric was thin and he only found a slanted pocket on his right leg.
After the two people behind him walked a little further away, he reached into the package.
He took the box containing the pocket watch, but did not take it out. He opened it secretly inside the bag, and then took out the magnet from the bag.
He thought for a moment, thinking back to one night?
Will it become invalid if it exceeds 24 points?
After a moment, it was adjusted to 23:00, and now it was 20:20.
Three hours... should be enough, right? He thought uncertainly.
Forget about assassinating the Sultan unless he can find a way to use his power within these few hours.
As they say, it's not bad to be a close bodyguard.
Tu Xing was lost in thought, and when the woman said, "The time is up, you can go in," he suddenly realized that he had overlooked something.
You can't let him be with a dog...right?
He always believed that no matter what happened, he could go back to it, so he didn't care. He forgot that for him, he would still experience this part.
