Chapter 20
Jiang Rong didn't feel anything special after hearing what he said. She just couldn't help but explain subconsciously, "No, no, this is the colored paper I just bought yesterday. Even if there is no sponsorship, this is still a gift I wanted to give you."
"It's just that I only know how to fold origami. I hope you won't mind my gift."
Shen Jianye seemed to be a little surprised by Jiang Rong's attitude. He subconsciously apologized: "I'm sorry, I am just..."
He didn't know what to say, so he looked at Jiang Rong seriously and said, "But I think you fold it very beautifully. Why do you keep working? With this skill, you can even set up a stall."
Jiang Rong narrowed her eyes: "As long as you like it."
She rubbed her apron awkwardly: "I'm probably still not qualified to set up a stall..."
Probably because she realized that the touch of her fingers was not right, she remembered that there was something on the stove in the kitchen. Jiang Rong said, "The bread should be fried." Then she turned around and ran to the kitchen.
Shen Jianye quickly followed behind. Fortunately, the rescue was timely, but the bread was fried a little dark brown. Jiang Rong put the bread on her plate, which was full of fried, unformed and scattered eggs, and over-fried broccoli. Shen Jianye raised the corner of his mouth slightly, and while Jiang Rong continued to fry the next piece, he walked over and took away the plate: "I'll eat this one, I like to eat crispy food."
Jiang Rong wanted to grab it again, but Shen Jianye said directly: “Don’t wait, this piece will be old later, and I can’t eat so many pieces.”
Jiang Rong could only put down her hand in disappointment. Seeing Shen Jianye open the refrigerator and take out the milk, she quickly reminded him, "By the way, I made coffee. I don't know if it's right..."
Shen Jianye didn’t let Jiang Rong wait, he walked directly to the coffee machine, picked it up and took a sip, and praised: “It tastes good, you can come to my shop to help when you are on vacation.”
Jiang Rong had never expected that the part-time job she had been dreaming of would be realized in another way. While she was stunned, Shen Jianye had already heated up the milk: "After dinner, let's go check on the cram school class."
Jiang Rong didn't expect that the hot milk Chen Jianye prepared for her. She quickly fried the bread. After the two of them finished breakfast, Chen Jianye took Jiang Rong out.
In Jiang Rong's impression, she only knew about some chain cram schools, and she often saw advertisements on the road, but Shen Jianye took her downstairs. She thought he would go to get an electric car, but he took her to the houses behind him.
As soon as Jiang Rong came downstairs, she saw the coffee shop, which hadn't opened yet. She asked curiously, "Shouldn't you open it first?"
Shen Jianye smiled and waved his hand: “I’m not a capitalist.”
"Let's go. I just contacted the teacher yesterday."
Jiang Rong was a little confused, but then she thought, Shen Jianye said that he had studied in her school for a year, so he was probably the teacher she knew at that time.
But it’s very early now, only eight in the morning.
Jiang Rong thought she was just going to see the teacher, after all it was so early, but the small room in the old factory was already crowded. Everyone was lowering their heads to complete the test papers. Sitting in the front row was a white-haired grandmother. Her sharp eyes were hidden behind her glasses, staring at the students who were concentrating on doing the test papers below. On the table was a stopwatch like the one the physical education teacher used.
Jiang Rong was fine originally, but now she felt the atmosphere and became nervous. However, Shen Jianye stood by the window and dared to wave at the teacher. The teacher closed his eyes and said, "There is still one hour left. Do your own questions at ease and don't whisper to each other."
After saying that, he walked out quickly and took Shen Jianye and Jiang Rong to the next room. Shen Jianye looked around and couldn’t help but praised: “Teacher, you bought this whole floor?”
"I haven't seen you for many years, but your imposing presence is still as strong as ever."
The teacher ignored what Shen Jianye said, but just looked at Jiang Rong: “Is this the little girl you called me about yesterday?”
"Which school do you attend?"
Jiang Rong licked her lower lip nervously: "Third Middle School."
The teacher crossed his arms and said, "The lowest-tier key high school..."
Shen Jianye was a little helpless, and couldn’t help but remind: “Teacher, you retired there after all.”
The teacher rolled her eyes in annoyance: "I advised you like this back then, but did you listen to me? You did it before, and now you're doing it again. Are you serious this time?"
Shen Jianye nodded hurriedly: "I must be serious. Now I have opened a coffee shop downstairs."
Jiang Rong looked around curiously. Although she didn’t quite understand, she could feel that Shen Jianye had a good relationship with the teacher. Soon the teacher turned the topic around to herself: “Shen Jianye is not a good person. You must be careful of him.”
Shen Jianye thought that he had exposed his true nature in front of Jiang Rong in the past few days, so he did not hold much hope for Jiang Rong's answer. However, Jiang Rong stood in front of him silently and said, "He's fine!"
Shen Jianye was a little helpless, but the teacher smiled and didn’t insist on arguing with Jiang Rong about right or wrong: “Whatever you say is okay, he is much more mature now than when he was a child.”
As soon as he finished speaking, he changed the subject and brought it back to study: "We have quite a few students from No. 3 Middle School here, but I'm not sure about your ability."
She dug out a few papers from the drawer and said, “Shen Jianye told me about the subjects you are not good at. You can do the papers in this room first, and I will check your basic skills.”
Jiang Rong took the test paper, pulled out a stool and sat down. Looking at the test paper in front of her, she felt uncomfortable just by seeing the subject name. Now Jiang Rong was even more nervous.
Shen Jianye couldn’t help but asked with concern: “Are you nervous?”
Jiang Rong sat on the stool, pursed her lips and nodded: "I did a bad job, will she abandon me?"
Shen Jianye smiled and half squatted down: “How could that be, if you did well, I would not bring you to the cram school, but to the advanced class.”
He patted Jiang Rong's head gently: "Okay, when the teacher calls you to leave get out of class, come directly to the coffee shop to find me."
"If anything else happens, just call me."
After he finished speaking, he opened the door and walked out, while Jiang Rong patted her cheeks, trying to sober herself up. She and Shen Jianye had only known each other for a few days, but now they were separated and she felt reluctant to leave. Thinking of what she had promised Shen Jianye, she blocked out the distracting thoughts in her mind and quickly began to fill in the test paper.
When the teacher returned to the classroom, the stopwatch on the podium happened to ring. She calmly clapped her hands and said, "Okay, it's time to hand in the test paper."
Students line up one by one to hand in their test papers. After handing them in, they can take their phones out of their phone bags and have a ten-minute break.
A young boy walked up to me and said out of the blue, "Teacher, if that unlucky guy comes to make up lessons, I won't come."
Worried that the teacher didn't understand, he kindly explained, "It's the girl outside the window just now. Besides, her family has no money, so she definitely can't afford the tuition!"
The teacher chewed on the word "jinx" and, as if remembering something, raised the corners of his mouth slightly, but scolded: "Then don't come. You always have so many excuses for not wanting to learn."
"Do you think your mother cares about the unlucky person or the fact that you can only get a broom?"
The boy curled his lips, not daring to continue to refute. He just turned back to his seat, intending to play with his phone for a while. But a girl came over and asked curiously, "What do you mean by jinx? Are you talking about the girl that Manager Shen just brought here?"
The boy was a little confused: "Li Tong, who is Manager Shen?"
Li Tong said helplessly: "Then is that unlucky star called Jiang Rong?"
The boy nodded quickly: "That's right, that's the name."
Li Tong's eyes flashed with a hint of deep meaning, and she continued to ask: "So why do you call her a jinx?"
The young man couldn't help but start telling Jiang Rong's story, and after finishing, he couldn't help but add: "If you think I'm exaggerating, just ask around at the old factory. Who doesn't know what happened in Jiang Rong's family?"
"But Old Lady Yang's fees aren't cheap. How does she have the money to come here?"
Li Tong's eyes grew more and more determined, while the young man maliciously speculated: "It must be that man from before. Of course, Jiang Rong only has that face."
The two people who were chatting happily just now, Li Tong refuted without any hesitation: "How is it possible? Jiang Rong must have tricked her. Manager Shen is so nice!"
The boy shrugged his shoulders, not wanting to say anything more, and then lowered his head to play with his mobile phone. He didn't want to waste the precious break time.
Li Tong, however, seemed to be possessed by a demon, muttering to herself as she sat in her seat: "Humph, so what if everyone sides with you..."
Jiang Rong looked at the teacher who came in with a pile of test papers. She had just finished the first paper, so she subconsciously ran over to help her hold some. The teacher gave her half without hesitation.
Jiang Rong looked down and realized that this was the paper she had just done. She was a little stunned, but the teacher calmly pulled out a stool and sat down, praising her in a calm tone: "You are also a good child."
Jiang Rong blinked, momentarily lost in thought as the teacher continued, "Let me introduce myself. My last name is Yang, so just call me Teacher Yang. My classes start at seven every day and last until eleven."
"We'll do the rest of the test papers tomorrow. You don't need to continue."
Jiang Rong uttered an "Oh" in a daze, as if she hadn't expected it to be so easy to get in. Teacher Yang, while marking the papers, seemed to have noticed her mood and calmly added:
“Shen Jianye is also a good boy, don’t let him down, study hard.”
Jiang Rong clenched her fists and said "hmm" earnestly. She soon received a test paper on which she had gotten almost half of the answers wrong. Her shoulders slumped, but Teacher Yang showed no emotion. She simply said, "It's okay. You'll be fine after a few days of studying here. Everyone does this at first."
Jiang Rong originally thought that she only needed to devote herself to studying from now on. However, when she followed Teacher Yang to the classroom and saw a familiar figure, she suddenly remembered that Li Tong once said that she took extra classes in the old factory, but she didn't expect that she was also under the guidance of Teacher Yang.
While she was in a daze, she realized that Teacher Yang had arranged for her to sit next to her because they were from the same high school.
