Chapter Twelve

Chapter Twelve

Hearing Shi Qing's words, Xia Mingqiu felt relieved: "Really? That's good. I was worried... Oh well, just remember you two should live a good life together from now on."

Shi Qing nodded gently, "Okay, Mom."

Xia Mingqiu: "How did you two meet? Was it Hanhan who introduced you?"

Shi Qing thought for a moment: "I saw her once, on Hanhan's birthday."

Zhou Han's eyes widened: "Could it be that you already had a crush on my cousin back then?"

"Yes, I was too embarrassed to tell you before." Shi Qing didn't expect Zhou Han to think that way, but she couldn't deny it.

She lowered her head and took a sip of water, too embarrassed to look Zhou Han in the eye.

Unexpectedly, Zhou Han suddenly looked towards the study and asked, "Cousin, who called you so happily?"

Shi Qing choked upon hearing the sound.

Zhou Han and Xia Mingqiu both looked at her: "Qingqing, are you alright?"

Shi Qing took the tissue Zhou Han handed her and wiped her mouth: "It's okay, this tea is indeed a bit hot."

When did Liang Yuheng come out?

Did he hear what he just said?

If you hear that...

Oh well, he probably knows he said that on purpose anyway.

Seeing that both of them said it was too hot, Xia Mingqiu also took a sip of tea. She felt it was fine, not that hot at all.

Liang Yuheng walked over, his expression returning to normal: "I had the restaurant deliver the food, it's arrived. Mom, go wash your hands and get ready to eat."

"Come on, Qingqing, let's go wash our hands and have dinner." Xia Mingqiu got up and took Shi Qing's hand.

"Okay, Mom."

The meal Liang Yuheng ordered was very lavish, clearly from a high-end restaurant.

Xia Mingqiu added a piece of shrimp to Shi Qing's spoon and said, "Qingqing, your hand is not convenient. If you want to eat something, just let Aheng pick it for you."

"Thank you, Mom. You can eat, don't worry about me." Shi Qing smiled. She looked at the shrimp in the bowl, but was afraid that Xia Mingqiu would misunderstand if she didn't eat them, so she explained, "Mom, I'm allergic to seafood, so I'll give these to Hanhan."

Liang Yuheng looked at her and suddenly remembered that when they ate together last time, Shi Qing didn't eat the food he put on her plate.

Xia Mingqiu looked at the table full of dishes, including several kinds of seafood, with a puzzled expression: "Aheng, don't you know that Qingqing is allergic to seafood?"

Shi Qing, afraid that Xia Mingqiu would blame Liang Yuheng, hurriedly explained, "Mom, he knows. I asked him to order it. You all eat more. I'll just eat the rest. There are still plenty of dishes left."

When Liang Yuheng saw Shi Qing speaking up for him, his chopsticks paused slightly as he picked up some food.

"Oh, I see." Xia Mingqiu thought it was true and smiled. "You're such a sensible child."

Zhou Han piled a lot of food onto Shi Qing's plate, saying, "Qingqing, you like these. See how well I know you?"

Shi Qing smiled and said, "That's enough, that's enough. My bowl is almost full, you should eat now."

Later, Shi Qing discovered that Liang Yuheng had indeed been serving her the foods he liked.

It seems he heard everything Zhou Han said.

On her way here, Xia Mingqiu heard Zhou Han talk about Shi Qing's family situation and felt sorry for the girl. As a first-time mother-in-law, she decided to cherish this well-behaved and sensible daughter-in-law.

"Qingqing, your hand has been bothering you lately, so I'll stay here for the next few days to take care of you."

Shi Qing almost bit her tongue after hearing that.

If Xia Mingqiu lives here, what will happen to her renting a place outside?!

"No need, Mom, it's just a minor injury." Shi Qing forced a bright smile, and even shook her wrist despite the pain.

Xia Mingqiu continued, "It's alright, since we live close by, my daughter and I can get to know each other better."

Shi Qing turned to look at Liang Yuheng, and gently touched his leg with her left hand below, her meaning of seeking help was very clear.

Liang Yuheng raised an eyebrow slightly.

After a moment, he said, "Mom, no need."

Xia Mingqiu lowered her eyes, looking quite disappointed: "If you find it inconvenient, then forget it."

Shi Qing's heart skipped a beat when she saw this.

Liang Yuheng's mother was unhappy, and it was because of her.

She remembered the purpose of her visit today. Things had been going well, and she couldn't let this affect Xia Mingqiu's mood.

"Mom, if you want to stay, then go ahead. We really want you to come."

After Shi Qing finished speaking, she looked at Liang Yuheng and found that he was looking at her leisurely.

Without thinking too much, Shi Qing winked at him: "Didn't you say a few days ago that you wanted to bring Mom to live with us?"

Liang Yuheng nodded, suppressing a laugh: "Yes, that's right."

Xia Mingqiu quickly cheered up again: "Really? Actually, I didn't plan to live with you guys long-term. I'll go back once I'm better."

Shi Qing quietly let out a breath and continued to say with a forced smile, "Okay."

Zhou Han bit her chopsticks, looking on with amusement.

After dinner, Shi Qing, Xia Mingqiu, and Zhou Han sat on the sofa watching TV and chatting.

Shi Qing saw Liang Yuheng cutting fruit in the kitchen and went over to help him.

She finally couldn't help but ask in a low voice, "What do we do now?"

Liang Yuheng placed the sliced cantaloupe on a plate, then turned to look at her: "What, what should we do?"

Because the two were quite angry, Shi Qing, afraid that the people in the living room would hear, stood on tiptoe slightly and said, "Auntie, didn't you say you were going to live here? But we don't live together."

Liang Yuheng wiped his hands, leaned down and whispered in her ear, "You might have to stay here for a few more days."

The warm breath tickled my ear.

Shi Qing's body tensed up involuntarily, but she tried her best to appear natural: "So, does that mean we'll be living together?"

Liang Yuheng: "If you mind, I can sleep on the floor like I did last night."

Shi Qing thought that this was someone else's house after all, and it wouldn't be appropriate for her to sleep on the floor.

"It's okay, we can sleep together." Shi Qing said this without looking at the person next to her.

"Okay." Liang Yuheng glanced at her reddened earlobe and chuckled silently.

Shi Qing: "Then I'll go back today to get some things?"

"Clothes and toiletries are provided. If you need anything else, I'll have someone bring it over." Liang Yuheng took a slice of melon and held it to her lips.

Just then, Xia Mingqiu looked over. Shi Qing, who had originally intended to catch the melon with her hand, subconsciously bit it with her mouth.

After finishing her meal, Shi Qing walked quickly to the living room with her head down.

Liang Yuheng held a plate of cut fruit in one hand, and with the other hand, he gently rubbed the fruit against Shi Qing's lips with the finger he had just touched, before a smile curved his lips.

-

In the afternoon, Liang Yuheng accompanied Xia Mingqiu back to get her things. Only after the two left did Shi Qing's tense nerves relax a little.

Zhou Han finally couldn't help but ask, "Qingqing, are you telling the truth today? You don't actually have a crush on my cousin, do you?"

Shi Qing glanced at her and said seriously, "No, isn't this just acting?"

"I didn't realize you were such a good actor. You almost convinced me." Zhou Han forked a piece of cantaloupe and popped it into her mouth. "Besides, you and my cousin seemed quite intimate today, like a real couple."

Shi Qing said helplessly, "Don't you know what's going on between me and your cousin?"

Zhou Han: "Why don't you just get together with my cousin? You can spend more time together during this period, and maybe you'll develop feelings for each other over time."

"Don't joke around." Shi Qing took a sip of water and swallowed her medicine.

Just then, Shi Qing's phone rang. She picked it up and saw that it was her grandmother calling.

Shi Qing quickly answered the call: "Hello, Grandma."

Grandma asked affectionately, "Qingqing, have you eaten?"

Shi Qing nodded: "I've eaten. What about you and Grandpa?"

“We just ate too. Your mom called me yesterday. I was thinking of going to see her, but I have some things to take care of at home these days and can’t go. Could you help me persuade her when you have time?”

Shi Qing replied calmly, "I understand."

The two chatted for a few more minutes before hanging up.

Seeing that Shi Qing was in a bad mood, Zhou Han asked in a low voice, "What's wrong, Qingqing?"

Shi Qing has been troubled by this matter for the past two days and couldn't help but want to confide in someone: "It seems like my dad is having an affair. Yesterday, the two of them almost got into a fight, and we couldn't stop them."

Zhou Han exclaimed, "Ah! Did you hurt your hand yesterday when you broke up the fight?"

Shi Qing did not deny it.

Zhou Han said angrily, "If it doesn't work out, then get a divorce. You can't change anything anyway. If it were me, I would have stopped having anything to do with them a long time ago."

Shi Qing had considered it, but she still couldn't do it.

They are, after all, her parents. Although she was raised by her maternal grandparents when she was little, it wasn't easy for them to carry her.

Seeing that Shi Qing didn't speak, Zhou Han realized that what she had just said was wrong: "I just said it casually, Qingqing, don't be angry."

Shi Qing forced a smile: "I'm not angry. I know you're doing this for my own good. But they are my family. That's just my personality; I can't cut ties with them completely."

Zhou Han: "Does my cousin know? Why don't you ask him to help you deal with it?"

Shi Qing shook her head: "Don't tell him yet, I'll go back and check later."

Zhou Han: "Okay then. I'm going on a date with my boyfriend tonight, so I'll take you home."

"good."

When Shi Qing got home, she saw that Zhang Mei looked very haggard and her hair was messy, and she felt a little sorry for her.

When Zhang Mei saw Shi Qing, she started crying: "That bastard of yours didn't come back all night. Qian Min said she had to go back to her parents' house today. None of you care about me."

Shi Qing also felt sorry for Zhang Mei: "Why don't you divorce my dad?"

Zhang Mei was stunned for a moment: "What did you say?"

"Anyway, he's the one who cheated, there's no point in you two continuing like this." Shi Qing picked up the things on the ground and put them away.

Zhang Mei looked bewildered and pained: "No, it would be too embarrassing to tell anyone. Besides, your brother is still paying off his mortgage. How can he possibly pay it off with his meager salary? If we get divorced, your father's money will be swindled away by that vixen sooner or later."

Shi Qing handed over a tissue: "Mom, how do you want to resolve that matter?"

Zhang Mei gritted her teeth and said, "Your dad needs to break up completely with that vixen, and then apologize to me."

Shi Qing knew that her father was a chauvinist who valued his reputation above all else, so getting him to apologize was practically impossible. Besides, her mother hadn't caught the two of them together.

Shi Qing: "Wait a few days until my brother comes back. He won't listen to what I say. Grandma is very worried about you. Don't upset yourself."

Upon hearing this, Zhang Mei started crying again.

Shi Qing ordered takeout for Zhang Mei, who had been hungry all day and ended up finishing all the noodles.

Seeing her mother's condition, Shi Qing was worried and decided to stay with her tonight. She called Liang Yuheng to tell him that something had happened at home and she couldn't come over.

After hanging up with Shi Qing, Liang Yuheng called Zhou Han.

Zhou Han was about to go to the movies with her boyfriend when she saw Liang Yuheng calling and quickly answered the phone.

"Hey cousin."

Liang Yuheng: "What happened at Shi Qing's house?"

Zhou Han, remembering that Shi Qing had forbidden her to say it, said guiltily, "No...no."

Liang Yuheng snorted: "I was originally planning to have someone mail you the house keys in the next few days."

Upon hearing about the seaside villa, Zhou Han couldn't help but say, "Wait, I just remembered. Shi Qing said her father seems to be having an affair, and her parents even fought yesterday, which is why Shi Qing hurt her hand. She probably didn't tell you because she was afraid it would upset you."

After listening, Liang Yuheng hummed in agreement: "If she has anything to say in the future, she should tell me. The house wasn't given away for nothing."

"I understand," Zhou Han said weakly.

After hanging up the phone, Zhou Han's boyfriend, Chen Jiasong, asked, "Honey, who called you? It sounded like a man."

Zhou Han laughed: "My cousin said he would give me a sea-view villa. I can get the keys in a couple of days."

A hint of surprise flashed in Chen Jiasong's eyes after hearing this, but he quickly lowered his eyes and took a sip of juice.

Zhou Han raised her hand and hooked his chin: "Are you jealous? He really is my cousin. We can go on vacation together in a while, so cheer up."

Chen Jiasong smiled and said, "I just don't want you to have such a good relationship with men."

Zhou Han was pleased to hear this: "I know, don't be angry, let's go see a movie."

"Okay." Chen Jiasong nodded with a smile.

In the evening, after finishing his work in the study, Liang Yuheng remembered the eyebrows he had done for Shi Qing that morning.

Although he wasn't very familiar with makeup, he could tell that his own makeup wasn't very good.

He searched for several beginner eyebrow drawing tutorials on his phone and practiced them on paper with a pen.

Liang Yuheng was only slightly satisfied after he had mastered all eight eyebrow shapes.

Knock knock.

Upon hearing the knock, Liang Yuheng immediately placed his phone face down on the table and grabbed a notebook to cover the practice papers.
