Chapter 458 Soul-Devouring Bead

Taking this opportunity, Qiqi called out to Lin Wei, "Sister Lin Wei, open the purification chamber!"

Lin Wei nodded and rushed towards the metal door.

"Here you go!" The controlled Xuanzhenzi took out a talisman from his sleeve and threw it to her.

Lin Wei took it and slapped the boundary-breaking talisman onto the door lock.

With a "crack," the barrier of the purification chamber shattered.

Lin Wei's face lit up with joy, "The barrier has been opened!"

As he spoke, he reached out and pushed the door open.

The purification chamber was a huge circular space with more than thirty orbs of light floating in the center, each containing the soul of a child.

They looked pained, bound by black chains.

The chains seemed to be drawing power from their souls, converging it into a large, transparent glass jar outside the sphere of light.

There were seven or eight researchers in white coats standing around. When they saw someone barging in menacingly, they all panicked and tried to run away.

"Stop them!" the old man roared.

More men in black robes surged in from all directions, and alarms blared throughout the underground laboratory.

Huo Yuwei made a quick decision, handing Qiqi to Lin Wei, "Take Qiqi inside, close the door, and try to rescue those souls. Leave the rest to me and Senior Xuanzhenzi!"

"Big brother!" Qiqi struggled, refusing.

"Listen to me!" Huo Yuwei pushed Lin Wei into the purification room without saying a word and slammed the door shut.

The moment the door closed, Lin Wei handed all the talismans that Qi Qi had given her to Huo Yuwei.

Huo Yuwei, clutching a large handful of talismans, faced the charging enemy.

Although he didn't understand magic, he was very skilled, and with the power of the talismans, he managed to hold off an enemy several times his size for a time.

Xuanzhenzi kept throwing talismans at him. These talismans were given to him by Qiqi and were incredibly powerful, preventing the old man and the man in black robes from getting even a fraction closer to the purification chamber.

Inside the purification room, Lin Wei looked at the little girl in her arms, her glasses red, her head drooping and not saying a word. She suppressed the bitterness in her heart and gently patted the girl's head.

Knowing she was worried about Huo Yuwei's safety, she comforted her softly, "Don't worry, Young Master Huo is a special forces king, very skilled. Besides, Senior Xuanzhenzi is here, so he'll definitely be fine."

"I know, Sister Lin Wei, let's hurry up and rescue the children's souls!"

She hadn't spoken earlier because she was observing Huo Yuwei's condition through the puppet talisman on "Xuanzhenzi's" body. Seeing that he could handle the situation, she felt relieved.

The researchers in the cleanroom were all huddled together, trembling. They were ordinary scientific researchers who were forced to work for this biotechnology company and had long been dissatisfied with this cruel practice.

However, either Dr. Wang has something on them, or he has used their families to threaten them, so they have no choice but to cooperate.

Now that someone is coming to rescue them, even if they don't cooperate, they won't stop them.

Lin Wei put Qi Qi down and together they began to observe the entire purification room.

Qiqi walked around the purification room, her gaze fixed on the soul control array in the center.

At the center of the formation, a black bead is absorbing the energy of the children's souls.

"Sister Lin, break that bead!"

Lin Wei pulled out a pistol and fired three shots.

The bullet hit the bead, but was deflected by a layer of black light.

Lin Wei stared in disbelief at the gun in her hand. "How could this be?"

The gun and bullets in her hand were magical artifacts with special properties from the Xuanmen Association, making them impervious to barriers.

But now it was bounced away by that bead.

What exactly is this bead?

"It's no use. That's the Netherworld Cult's supreme treasure, the 'Soul-Devouring Pearl.' Ordinary magical artifacts can't harm it."

A researcher in a white coat suddenly spoke, his voice trembling, "But I once overheard Dr. Wang talking to someone, saying that this bead could be temporarily sealed with pure Yang blood!"

Qiqi looked at the man and asked, "Uncle, are you a good person?"

The researcher removed his mask, revealing a young and pale face.

His expression was pained, and genuine resentment surged in his eyes. "I was forced into this! They kidnapped my sister and threatened to extract her soul if I didn't help them. Please, save her."

Other researchers also gathered around, chattering amongst themselves.

"My daughter is also in their hands. Please, I beg you, you must help me rescue her."

"And my son."

"Please, I beg you, bring these people to justice! They have harmed so many innocent children!"

Looking at the researchers' sincere expressions, Lin Wei felt a mix of emotions.

"Uncle, Auntie, don't worry, we will definitely rescue everyone!"

But what they need most right now is pure Yang blood!

However, after scanning the faces of everyone present, Qiqi realized that none of them had a pure Yang destiny.

The only person with a pure Yang destiny present was Huo Yuwei, who was currently outside defending against the attack of the black-robed men.

Qiqi pursed her lips. "Sister Lin Wei, quickly bring big brother in."

Lin Wei thought she was worried about Huo Yuwei's safety. "Qiqi, don't worry about Young Master Huo right now. Let's think of a way to get that bead!"

"Big brother has a pure yang destiny; only his blood is effective."

"What?" Lin Wei turned to open the door. "I'll go now."

Just as the door was opened, Huo Yuwei, caught off guard by the attack, was kicked and fell against the door.

Lin Wei reacted quickly, grabbing his arm and pulling him inside, then closing the door to the purification room behind her.

"Eh..." Huo Yuwei looked up in confusion, frowning at the closed door. "Lin Wei, what are you doing? Senior Xuanzhenzi is alone outside; it's dangerous. Quick, let me out!"

"Fellow Daoist Qiqi asked me to bring you in." Lin Wei crossed her arms and blocked the doorway.

What?

Did Qiqi call him in?

That's alright then.

Huo Yuwei turned to look at Qiqi, "Qiqi, what's wrong? Did you call your big brother in because you need something?"

Her voice was an octave lower, and it sounded incredibly gentle.

It's just too incongruous with his nearly 190cm height and burly physique!

"Big brother, we need a little pure yang blood to seal that bead," Qiqi said in her childish voice, tilting her little head up and launching a glare at Huo Yuwei. "You're the only one here with a pure yang destiny, so we need a little bit of your blood!"

As soon as Qiqi finished speaking, Huo Yuwei flipped his wrist without thinking and the dagger in his palm cut a bloody gash on Qiqi's arm.

"Is that enough?" someone asked boldly. "If not, I'll cut some more!"

Lin Wei: ...

Qiqi, "That's enough!"

As he spoke, he took out a talisman and made a hand seal to direct the blood dripping from Huo Yuwei's wound onto the talisman.

Once enough has been gathered, flick your wrist and the talisman flies toward the Soul-Devouring Pearl and sticks to it.

The bead vibrated violently, and the black light dimmed.
