Seeking shelter from the rainstorm

Seeking shelter from the rainstorm

After the two left the bookstore, they hadn't walked far when they saw the sky suddenly darken.

The dark clouds spread rapidly like splashed ink, and the rumble of distant thunder could be heard.

"Looks like it's going to rain. Shall we go back?"

Zhao Tingfeng glanced at the sky and said.

"Okay!" Ye Wanqing nodded, and Zhao Tingfeng quickly pedaled hard to return.

But summer thunderstorms come suddenly and violently, with large raindrops pelting down and instantly forming a curtain of rain, turning the world into a white expanse.

The two men had now arrived in the suburbs, a few kilometers away from the troops.

The road became muddy, and the car quickly got stuck in the mud and couldn't be ridden.

"No, the rain is too heavy! There's an abandoned air-raid shelter up ahead, let's go there to take shelter!"

Zhao Tingfeng then threw the car under a tree and quickly pulled her along, stumbling and wading, towards the ravine by the roadside.

The entrance to the cave was half-hidden by vines, and the inside was dark, filled with the damp smell of earth and moss.

It was cold inside the cave, and the rain soaked her clothes. Ye Wanqing hugged her arms and couldn't help but shiver.

"It's so cold! When will this rain stop?!"

Zhao Tingfeng didn't say anything, but immediately took off his coat and draped it over her shoulders.

"Give me your clothes, aren't you cold?"

"It's okay, I'm a man, I can take it."

Ye Wanqing felt a warmth in her heart; it seemed this guy was quite considerate and chivalrous.

Using the dim light filtering through the cave entrance, he skillfully gathered dry twigs and fallen leaves, then pulled out the matches he always carried from his pocket. Luckily, they weren't wet; he could use them.

With a "snap," a match was struck, igniting a warm campfire.

"Come closer, warm yourself by the fire, don't catch a cold."

Upon hearing this, Ye Wanqing moved closer to the fire and stretched out her hands to warm them above the flames.

The two sat down across the fire, silent for a moment, with only the sound of rain outside the cave and the burning of firewood inside.

After an unknown amount of time, the rain showed no sign of stopping, and the sky had become completely dark.

"It seems... we won't be able to go back tonight." Ye Wanqing looked at the endless darkness at the cave entrance, feeling somewhat nervous.

Zhao Tingfeng poked at the fire, making it burn brighter. "Don't be afraid, I'm here. How about we chat? That way you won't be scared."

"OK."

After all, it's boring to be idle. With the rain so heavy, it's quite scary to be in such a big cave without talking.

"Then let's talk about that guy you were dating before?" Zhao Tingfeng looked at her seriously.

He genuinely wanted to know what kind of man could catch her eye.

Ye Wanqing hadn't expected him to ask that. But she still answered frankly, "His name is Gu Mohan, and he's a police officer. He's very handsome, aloof, and sharp-tongued."

"Oh? I think I know him. He's my high school classmate."

Ye Wanqing was surprised that they knew each other and couldn't help but feel curious.

"Tell me about it?"

"Back then, I didn't get into university and went to the army, while he went to police academy. This guy was a good student since he was a child, and his teachers often praised him. He was very arrogant, and we all disliked him back then and often bullied him." Zhao Tingfeng began to reminisce.

"What? Gu Mohan was often bullied when he was in school?" Ye Wanqing couldn't connect Gu Mohan at all.

"Yeah, I remember one time, the five of us surrounded him on the playground and beat him up. After that, he ran away whenever he saw us."

Upon hearing this, Ye Wanqing burst into laughter, but her laughter quickly subsided.

After all, this isn't school bullying. It seems that Gu Mohan's taciturn nature is related to his childhood experiences.

"Then tell me about yourself. Have you ever dated anyone before?"

"No," Zhao Tingfeng said, a little embarrassed.

"You're over thirty and you've never had a boyfriend?" Ye Wanqing looked at Zhao Tingfeng in disbelief, her gaze involuntarily falling on a certain part of him.

It looks quite bulging.

It seems this gun has never been used in a battle.

What a waste!

He's so old, yet still a naive virgin. Unbelievable.

"Now it's my turn to ask you. How far had your relationship with Gu Mohan progressed?" Zhao Tingfeng stared straight at her.

"In this conservative era, what can I possibly go to? Just kissing, that's all."

"So, is his kissing skill better, or mine?"

"Of course, it's because his kissing skills are better." Speaking of this, Ye Wanqing couldn't help but recall that when she kissed Gu Mohan, she felt completely soft and weak. His kiss was domineering yet very skillful.

It gives off a very sensual vibe.

"So, was it a light kiss or a French kiss?"

"Of course, it's a French kiss." As soon as she said it, Ye Wanqing regretted it. Why had she answered him so obediently?

"Oh, so you like French kissing, girl." Zhao Tingfeng silently made a mental note of it, but he was also a little envious and jealous of that kid Gu Mohan.

The food is really good.

He hadn't even had a proper French kiss with the girl yet, and that old man beat him to it.

I'm so annoyed.

He'd love to French kiss the girl sometime. He wanted to prove to himself that his kissing skills weren't bad either.

"It's not that I like French kissing, it's just that when we kiss deeply..." Ye Wanqing was distracted and hadn't finished speaking when Zhao Tingfeng lowered his head and kissed her lips.

"Hmm..." Ye Wanqing was immediately stunned by his sudden action.

In this situation, a lone man and a lone woman...

That's so alluring.

Zhao Tingfeng was clearly more into the role than she was, and even started sticking out his tongue.

Ye Wanqing forgot to resist, only feeling her heart pounding.

Almost a minute later, Zhao Tingfeng finally let go of her. "Girl, you have feelings for me, which means you're attracted to me."

Ye Wanqing wiped her mouth and said angrily, "No, I didn't. You were just being a pervert."

"But you seemed to enjoy it just now. If I had known, I wouldn't have stopped and would have just dealt with you directly," Zhao Tingfeng said with a grin.

"Don't do anything reckless! Otherwise, I'll accuse you of raping a woman."

"Okay, okay. I was just kidding. Let's not talk about this, let's talk about something else."

Zhao Tingfeng started to find other topics, and the two chatted enthusiastically.

Once the conversation started, they discovered so many wonderful resonances and connections between them.

As night deepened, the rain lessened, turning into a soft drizzle. Occasionally, a spark would fly from the fire.

Zhao Tingfeng recounted amusing anecdotes from his time in the army. As Ye Wanqing listened, she probably grew tired, and unconsciously leaned her head against the rock wall behind her, closing her eyes.

Zhao Tingfeng looked at her peaceful sleeping face, the firelight gently outlining her features, her long eyelashes casting shadows under her eyes.

He stared, somewhat mesmerized, a strong sense of protectiveness and excitement churning within him.

Zhao Tingfeng walked over to her, sat down, and put his arm around her.

Ye Wanqing leaned against his chest and fell into a deep sleep.

At this moment, Zhao Tingfeng felt his whole body burning hot; the feeling of having a beauty in his arms was simply too wonderful.

"My little girl, how I wish I could hold you like this every day from now on... hold you openly and honestly..."
