Chapter 256 concludes here.

Two minutes later.

"Commander, you wanted to see me."

After knocking on Dukao's office and receiving a response, Wang Ji pushed the door open, entered, and saluted.

"Hmm, come, sit down." Dukao sat behind the large desk. When he saw Wang Ji come in, his frowning expression softened as much as possible. He went to the opposite side of the desk and gestured for Wang Ji to sit on a sofa chair.

The two sat facing each other across a coffee table.

"I'm sure you've guessed why I called you here—it's to say something."

There was no one else in the office, and the young soldier who usually followed Dukao was rarely seen.

Dukao's words seemed both direct and ambiguous.

In the past, Wang Ji would have been more outspoken.

"I'm not quite sure, please enlighten me, General," he replied.

Dukao glanced at him with slight surprise, but didn't say anything more. Wang Ji's answer wasn't too unexpected.

“From yesterday to today, the matter between you, Lena, and Cheng Yaowen has caused quite a stir and had a significant impact.”

There was neither tea nor water, clearly indicating that this exchange was rather formal. Dukao's expression was serious, and his voice was calm.

"Yes. I'm sorry, General, I didn't expect Cheng Yaowen to react so strongly at the time." Wang Ji replied, looking as if he had just realized something.

“This isn’t your fault.” Dukao shook his head. “Nobody could have predicted this… You’ve already been quite accommodating in this matter.”

He was referring to the conflict between Lena and Cheng Yaowen, not anything else. Wang Ji had already shown enough restraint in this matter. As Lena's boyfriend, even if he completely sided with Lena, no one could say anything.

As for what happens a few months later when one can no longer tolerate it and wants to ease the conflict between teammates, who can force anything?

"However, regarding the matter in Tianhe City..."

To get straight to the point.

Wang Ji was indeed prepared, and Dukao noticed that there was almost no surprise in his eyes.

But he remained silent, sitting there quietly, waiting for what was to come.

“I want to know, why didn’t you discuss this with me?” Dukao stared intently at him.

"Excuse my bluntness, General, but I don't know what you're talking about." Wang Ji's gaze was calm as he looked directly at the other man.

Such words and attitude immediately made Dukao frown.

He paused for a moment, unsure of how to begin.

“I remember you once came to me on your own initiative,” Dukao said after a moment, “asking about future wars, especially nuclear war, in great detail. You should still remember that, right?”

Wang Ji nodded: "Of course."

“I also received some information a few days ago.” Dukao frowned slightly and continued, “The Taotie Legion fleet in the Styx Galaxy suffered a devastating blow, and a few days later, a Taotie Grand Cross that entered the solar system was inexplicably destroyed. Soon after, an inanimate planet in the Styx Galaxy was devastated by a super-mass antimatter bomb.”

Based on the timeline, what followed was the unexpected nuclear explosion in Tianhe City.

Actually, I had already guessed that this was related to you, just like what Cheng Yaowen said yesterday in the cafeteria.

"Does General Du have any evidence?" To Du Kao's furrowed brow, Wang Ji actually replied in this way.

For a moment, silence fell over the room.

“Your words are the evidence.” After a long pause, Dukao stared at Wang Ji and said, “Yesterday you asked Yaowen how he knew that the matter in Tianhe City was related to you, and who told him.”

Upon hearing this, Wang Ji's gaze flickered slightly.

However, he remained calm and spoke in a composed manner: "Then I wonder if General Du has asked Cheng Yaowen how long he intends to hate Lena, to what extent, or why he hates me so much?"

Since you seem to know everything, I wonder if you've tried to intervene and ease the conflict between Lena and Cheng Yaowen over the past few months?

Or have you asked Cheng Yaowen these past couple of days when he overheard Lena and me whispering? And am I the kind of person who's so careless?

He paused at the end, a barely perceptible yet enigmatic smile playing on his lips: "I think...none of them are, are they? Why don't you go and ask them? Why are you asking me alone? Or are you interrogating me?"

A hint of anger rose in Dukao's eyes.

I did not mean to interrogate you!

“There’s no need for you to interrogate me…” Wang Ji suddenly smiled and shrugged: “I confess.”

"I acted on my own initiative, was ambitious and eager for quick success, and colluded with external forces without your knowledge, which led to the nuclear explosion in Tianhe City, resulting in heavy casualties." He nodded, without hiding anything.

Instead, he seemed somewhat relieved and liberated, raising his hand to signal to the angry Dukao: "There's nothing left to hide now, almost everyone knows, that's how it is... Now you can tell me, what do you plan to do with me?"

"I have no intention of punishing you!" Dukao said angrily, "but I need to give an explanation to my superiors! This matter has caused quite a stir, and many departments know about it, including the Supreme Command Department!"

I need to know the details, such as how you contacted the forces behind you, or what they want and what they want to do.

"No details." Wang Ji shook his head directly.

"However, one thing can be made clear: they don't want anything, and whatever happens is between me and them. I will not give you their names."

He raised his hand: "You won't get any information about them from me, and that's all they'll do. Unless Styx flips the table first, I'll do everything in my power to get them to retaliate."
