Chapter 556 Received the News!

On the other side.

Mona's entire convoy stopped. They were already quite close to the northern border, but they still didn't chase after Luo Chen's car.

"No, they really didn't show up here. It seems there's definitely a problem." Mona got out of the car and looked at the endless mountains ahead, saying calmly.

An angry expression appeared on her face. She would absolutely not give up until she caught Luo Chen and the others.

She could even disregard Mu Shanhai and the others; she had to kill Luo Chen alive. Only in this way could she vent her hatred.

Of the twenty or thirty people, only she survived, and she didn't even have time to bury the bodies of the one-eyed man and the others.

But she really couldn't understand why Luo Chen could kill so many of them all by himself.

This is simply outrageous; even a master at the Grandmaster level shouldn't be at this level.

Of course, Mona couldn't imagine how powerful Luo Chen's death was.

The Grandmaster realm she imagined was naturally different from Luo Chen's Grandmaster realm; perhaps it was the best weapon the system had given Luo Chen.

If everyone's skill level is the same, then Luo Chen will indeed have a hard time surviving in this world.

“Mona, calm down. I believe we will find him. Even if he went to the northern frontier, we still have a chance. I don’t believe he won’t come back,” John said, stroking his bald head.

Such comfort was not enough to appease Mona's anger. Not everyone could understand her feelings about not being able to catch the person who had cut off her own arm.

“Perhaps they didn’t go from here, but took another route?” Mona stared at John and offered her opinion. They had a similar discussion last night, but ultimately decided to continue the investigation today.

But ultimately, there were no clues whatsoever.

John sighed and said, “I know you’re eager to find him as soon as possible, but don’t rush. I had a search done, and the only way to get to the North Frontier is from here, and of course, there’s that mountain forest, but you know they probably won’t continue from there.”

"Damn, let me think. You mean they came from that mountain forest? Right, that's what I should think of. Maybe they were thinking someone was tracking them, so they chose to continue from there. That way, we can think in reverse, right?"

John put his hands on his hips, shielding his eyes from the sun, and frowned as he said, "Perhaps you're right."

"Then what are we waiting for? Let's go back now and see where we start to climb the mountain."

Are you sure we want to go back now?

Mona nodded solemnly; her expression told John that no matter what the problem was, she was determined to find Luo Chen.

Their convoy then began to return along the same route.

"Hey boss, this is a team. It seems like we've been followed the whole time."

John listened to the voice on the walkie-talkie and looked at Mona.

"What does this mean? Why is someone starting to track us? Could it be them?"

Mona didn't answer, but quickly took the walkie-talkie from John and said, "What's going on? Explain who's following us."

A buzzing sound came from the walkie-talkie: "I don't know. It was following us before, then it passed us when we parked, but now it's following us again. It's very strange."

Mona's expression suddenly turned serious, as if she had grasped a clue, and she continued to call out, "Quickly intercept him, capture him alive, no matter what, you must capture him alive."

Just moments after Mona finished speaking, several gunshots rang out from the convoy behind them.

After Mona got out of the car, she saw a group of people escorting a mercenary towards her, and the mercenary kept shouting about why they were shooting at him.

"Alone?" Mona frowned. Why would it be just one person?

"I don't know, there's only one person in the car." The mercenary pointed behind him and said, "They're searching the car."

Mona looked at the man whose arm had been struck and asked, "Who are you? Why are you following us?"

"What do you mean? I don't understand what you're saying at all. I'm just a reporter, I didn't follow you." The mercenary shook his head and explained frantically.

But among these professionals, the mercenaries' acting skills can only be described as utterly clumsy.

"A reporter? That's the funniest joke I've ever heard."

"Didn't your boss teach you how to conduct reconnaissance? Or did you always slack off in class?" John chuckled, staring at the mercenary.

Clearly, they looked down on the mercenary's tracking skills.

"Clang!" Mona pulled a rifle from the car, cocked it, and pointed the muzzle at the mercenary's forehead, demanding, "I'll ask you again, who are you? Why are you following us?"

The mercenary, with a gun pointed at him, was already covered in sweat, his eyes filled with fear.

"Okay, okay, don't shoot, I'll talk, I'll tell you everything."

"Coward," John muttered to himself, only to be met with a glare from Mona.

"You have three minutes."

"I... I'm from the rest stop ahead." The mercenary glanced at Mona, swallowed hard, and said, "This morning, the boss told me to check the road to the northern frontier for any convoys, and to just report all our movements to him."

"A rest stop?" Mona put the gun into the car, then looked at John and said, "Do you remember that fork in the road we saw yesterday when we got out of the car? There were guards and surveillance cameras there, maybe that's it."

Am I right?

The mercenary nodded quickly.

Who came to your rest stop?

“A group of people came yesterday, saying they would leave after resting for one night, but they didn’t leave today. Hmm, there were two women among them.”

The man's words instantly filled Mona with joy. She looked at John excitedly and said loudly, "Yes, it's them! Yes, it's them!"

John placed his hands on Mona's shoulders and said, "Okay, I understand. Don't get excited, let's take it slow, okay?"

"Tell me everything: how many people you have, how many they have, their weapons and equipment, the terrain features of your rest area, and your defensive positions, and I might spare your life."

The man then recounted everything he knew, but he didn't know anything about the weapons, equipment, or other more secretive aspects.

"Can I leave now?" The mercenary looked at John, then at Mona, his eyes filled with a will to survive. He continued to emphasize, "Don't worry, I'll leave here. I won't say anything."

Mona ignored him and got back into the car, while John waved to the person behind the man.

"I'm sorry, sir, you know that a dead person is the best option."
