Chapter 119 About the Same Person in Different Worlds

Chapter 119 About the Same Person in Different Worlds

As always, Ishmael wore her diving suit and dived deep into the waters near the shipyard to dismantle the scrap crabs.

If she could collect a little more, and if their shipyard received a few more orders...

They can go back, back to V Company, back to their office.

Thinking of this, the figure, completely covered in rubber, slammed the crab-splitting machine in his hand down hard on the waste crab below.

To her surprise, her prey vanished, and her powerful strike missed its mark.

Even surrounded by water, she charged forward fiercely, carried by inertia, comically spinning 360 degrees in place in the water.

She turned off the weapon that was on its highest power setting. That's not right. She hadn't drunk any alcohol today, so it's impossible for her to be hallucinating.

What's going on?

The originally murky, greenish water has become as clear as the beaches inside the U-Nest resort.

It was completely different from the back alley, which was filthy and teeming with crabs.

Speaking of crabs, Ishmael looked around and saw a small crab, about the size of a finger joint, swimming in the sea. As it passed this dark, limb-covered "seal," it glanced at it with its beady eyes.

Ishmael's yellow-green eyes met those of a pair of small, dark eyes through her diving mask as she looked at the little crab, and an even more subtle expression appeared on her face.

Since she was freed from the book, she had never seen such a small crab. All she had ever seen were huge creatures that could be cut open with pincers and stuffed into a person's mouth.

What exactly is going on here?

Because there were too many illogical things, she decided not to linger there any longer. Ishmael kicked her flippers and floated to the surface.

Sure enough, the water here was just as clear as the bottom, and the dancing spots of light reflected off the azure sky were so bright that it was hard to open one's eyes.

Meanwhile, Otis, who should have been in the library, stared blankly at the beach.

The sea breeze cooled down my slightly flushed face, which was still a little hot from the hangover.

The representative from the molar clinic looked left and right, thinking, "This doesn't seem right."

She looked down at the library invitation she was still clutching in her hand, and... shouldn't she have two companions with her?

The invitation had three names on it! They all wrote their names along with hers…

What happened? The library's invitation letter, like W Company's, failed?!

She should go buy a lottery ticket. The fact that she encountered the Warp Train and the medium provided by Tsubasa, both of which malfunctioned, meant she wouldn't dare to think that way even if she drank all night again!

Otis patted his face, got off the warp train, and the hangover headache and nausea returned.

Looking at it this way, she saw a figure rushing towards her at high speed.

Was that a person? Instinctively, Otis reached for his weapon, but his hand grasped at empty air.

Bad news: her weapon is missing.

The figure showed no intention of slowing down and continued charging straight ahead.

Ishmael, who had wrapped herself up tightly, finally made it ashore before the oxygen in her tank ran out.

She never imagined that she would be so far from the shore and almost die of exhaustion in the lake.

Yes, this is a large lake. Only large lakes in the city have such a vast body of water.

Fortunately, she didn't accidentally wander into any areas with strict rules; otherwise, even if she had been closer to the shore, she probably would have died there.

As soon as she tore off the mask that was tightly fastened to her face, she saw a drunkard, an obvious drunkard, whose flushed face could not be concealed even by his dark skin.

Not to mention her expression, which Ishmael, who loved to drink, knew all too well.

Tsk, I really want to have a drink.

"Excuse me, do you know where this place is?"

Ishmael of the molar repair shop, who crawled out of the sea like a sea monkey, asked Otis of the molar office.

This place doesn't look like those big ports; it looks more like real land. She can't possibly be washed away outside of U Company, can she?

The drunkard spoke up: "I don't know, I don't know where this is either. Damn it, my head hurts so much. The Warp Train is really something else."

Ishmael caught the key word, "warp train," and at the same time, she saw the piece of paper she would never forget for the rest of her life.

That was an invitation from the library.

But the library is long gone, so how did this invitation end up?

Moreover, there were no words on it at all; it was a completely blank invitation.

"vomit……"

Otis felt nauseous from the sea breeze. Seeing Ishmael staring intently at the invitation in her hand, she asked:

"What, do you recognize this?"

She shook it, but it had no effect at all. No, maybe it had some effect, since she had left the warp train. She just didn't know how Li Xiang and the others were doing, or if they had managed to get out successfully like her.

“The library invitation… I never thought I’d see it again,” Ishmael murmured.

"What did you say?" Otis didn't hear her clearly. She looked at this person, who seemed to know this thing and was just as lost as she was, with a puzzled expression.

"It's nothing, just a bit of a感慨 (gan3 kai3 - a feeling of mixed emotions, including nostalgia and a sense of wonder). How did you get this thing? It's disappeared from libraries now, I never thought I'd actually see this weird thing again."

"What?! The library has disappeared?!" Otis's mind, which had been somewhat muddled, was now completely clear.

"Why are you so surprised?" Ishmael looked at Otis with a puzzled expression.

"Didn't the library disappear a long time ago?"

"But I just received the request yesterday... Could it be because of the Warp Train? What year is it now?"

Although Ishmael found her question strange, she answered it anyway, mainly because she saw a strange sense of déjà vu in her.

She looked very familiar, but she couldn't quite put her finger on why. She was certain she had never seen her before.

“It is May 984…” Her words were interrupted by Otis’s raised voice.

"What?! 984?!" The dark-skinned woman was clearly shocked. "A year has already passed?!"

Ishmael understood her meaning and exclaimed in surprise, "The warp train has left you a year behind?!"

Otis had nothing to hide; the woman dressed like a sea creature in front of him probably knew more about the library than he did.

“It’s not entirely because of the Warp train,” she rubbed her head and shook the invitation in her hand, “there’s also this, sigh, when the Warp train broke down, we were planning to use this to get out of there.”

"Who knew we'd be dumped in this godforsaken place, and a whole year has already passed?"

“Wait a minute,” Ishmael interrupted Otis’s rambling, frowning as she asked, “You were on the Warp Train, trying to use an invitation to go to the library?”

"Yeah, what's wrong?" Otis looked at the person in front of her with a subtle expression. Why was she reacting so strongly all of a sudden?

Ishmael suddenly realized where the feeling of familiarity came from.

The clothes, the time of day, and the person suffering from a hangover... all made her think of these things.

"You... are from the molar clinic?" she asked tentatively.

"How did you know? Did you place a commission with us before?"

Otis was somewhat surprised, but not much. After all, they were in business, and most of the coordination work was done by Li Xiang. She only needed to complete the tasks assigned to her.

But then he saw a guy with long orange hair sticking to his body, looking a bit like some kind of octopus, say, "I'm also from the Molar Dental Clinic."

“How…” Before Otis could deny it.

Ishmael continued, “I am you from another world. I was also trapped in the warp train and used that invitation.”

"But... I succeeded. I successfully reached there, and then, I died there and became a book."

Upon hearing about the Mirror World, Otis fell silent for a moment: "Then how come you're still alive?"

She had been told by her friend that turning into a book meant death, and the person who claimed to be her from the mirror world had just jumped ashore like a monkey.

"After the library disappeared, we who became books were randomly teleported to the city, and we were teleported to the shore of a great lake."

She pointed to her clothes: "We're saving up for the trip. Once we've saved enough, we can go back."

"Is this Company U?" Otis caught the key word "Great Lake".

That's true, there's such a large body of water here.

But Ishmael's face showed great uncertainty. She shook her head and said, "I've never seen this place before. If we hadn't left the Great Lake, this might have been the other side."

While the two were still figuring out who this place was and what place it was.

A newly appointed boss at the winery—or rather, the Holy Fool boss—suddenly appears.

Sonia came to the United States to discuss cooperation; with the distillery undergoing a complete transformation, there are many things to handle.

Fyodor had to be divided into eight people to make use of him, so he came by himself.

Then, when he came out for some fresh air during his free time, he saw two familiar-looking people.

They really looked familiar. He had memorized the faces of all of Luo Jia's colleagues. Moreover, Lobotomy Corporation was only missing these two people.

He never expected to run into them here. He made a phone call first, and then walked towards the two people who were looking around.

“Hey, someone’s coming,” Otis warned. She had no weapon, but Ishmael did.

She wasn't entirely unsure of herself whether she could defeat that pretty boy, but with a ready-made fighter available, she didn't have to go in empty-handed.

However, Sonia wasn't there to fight; he was there to say hello. Luo Jia had mentioned their names to him before.

“Mrs. Otis, Mrs. Ishmael, Mr. Dante is looking for you.”

Well, even without Luo Jia saying it, Sonia already knew that Mr. Dante was the head of Lobotomy Corporation.

Otherwise, why would they all be working here in such large numbers?

The two people who had been spoken to looked at the well-dressed white-haired man.

They know Dante, but why does Dante know both of them at once?

He should have looked for one of them; Dante couldn't possibly contact multiple mirror worlds at once, could he?

When Sonia uttered the name Dante, writing suddenly appeared on the previously blank invitation.

The name Dante was written swiftly in elaborate cursive script, then crossed out and rewritten with a large X. But the invisible writer seemed still unsatisfied and crossed out the X as well.

Otis watched helplessly as the name on the supposedly "expired" invitation kept changing between X and Dante.

Finally, the two names gradually blurred and eventually merged into a single letter—A.

Author's Note: I was trying to find common ground between Mama and Auntie, and after searching high and low, I found it was the same person! It's hilarious, it's actually the same person! [doge]

My personal understanding is that the library year later is 084, which is the timeline I saw on Wikipedia, the timeline for the trip to the beach, not something I made up [kissing emoji].

When I say "finished," I mean I'll try to finish the main story by the end of this month. I'll also write some side stories later. [kiss][kiss]
