Chapter 12 About Trying

Chapter 12 About Trying

The black-haired youth returned to the company he had been away from for a long time, bringing with him the greatest gain from his trip: Hong Lu, one of the twelve sinners who had been stranded in this world, the sixth sinner from H Nest.

"So, what do I need to do? But, Mr. X?"

The long-haired youth raised his question.

This place is so familiar, with its huge logo formed by a nail deeply embedded in the cross-section of a brain, and the employees in stable EGO gear coming in one after another to report on their work.

All signs point to this being one of the city's twenty-six wings, the broken L-wing—Lobotomy Corporation.

As soon as Honglu entered the supervisor's office, she saw two children wearing skirts who looked very similar approaching X and talking to the young man.

Honglu knew their voices all too well; they were the ones from the night of Valpughis that caused everyone to time-travel.

The voices of the two Lobotomy Corporation central headquarters managers were constantly being broadcast over the radio. However, according to Ms. Faust's introduction, shouldn't they be Lobotomy Corporation's AIs? Why are they two children with bodies?

“Manager, who is this?” Enoch asked, having never seen this person before.

"Is this a new employee?" Someone brought in by their supervisor is definitely not an office worker.

"Supervisor, which department do you plan to assign him to?" Lisa was more concerned about Honglu's final destination than his background.

"Supervisor?" A children's duet sounded in X's ear.

The black-haired youth did not answer the questions from the heads of the Central Headquarters; he was thinking about something, something very important.

That is, whether he can still use Dante's abilities to rewind the sinners' time.

Now is a good time to test it out. After all, even if he is certain that he cannot use Dante's Great Resurrection, he can still use the TT2 protocol within the design to start this day anew.

"This is Honglu," he introduced to the two ministers.

"Let him stay in the training department for now, and let Hod mentor him."

Let's wait a bit longer and let Honglu improve his attributes first. Right now, he's too weak for Lobotomy Corporation, which has already survived those fifty days of hell.

He could easily die on the spot if he's not careful. According to his level, he's at most an ordinary level four employee right now.

After repeatedly pressing "Restart the day," the black-haired youth finally looked at the number of "endorphins" displayed on the monitor screen and nodded in satisfaction.

Standing behind the young man, Angela watched his movements and knew that he was preparing to leave work. She then gave the order to the employees to end their workday.

Work summary: Today's losses were minimal; no clerical or staff personnel died. It was practically a perfect day.

X looked at the report with satisfaction.

Honglu was assigned to the relatively safer training department.

Surprisingly, before X lost control of the situation and had to choose to "start the day anew," he was incredibly lucky and never died.

In short, the supervisor's secret wish was shattered; he still couldn't test whether he could actually use the resurrection skill.

After spending a few more days outside, X finally got a chance to try, and Bai Ye's Guardian Apostle took away Hong Lu, who had just been promoted to Level 5 employee, with a single scythe.

Oh dear, this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, and for X, the company is beyond saving.

X stared at the chaotic scene unfolding on the surveillance camera.

The anomaly, shaped like a comma, with "Yin" and "Yang" both leaving the containment chamber and moving towards each other.

At the central headquarters, the White Night, resembling a snow-white fetus with six wings, descended upon the company in the presence of the Apostles, throwing the entire organization into chaos, just waiting for X to devour it while it was still hot.

X removed his hands from the control panel; he couldn't even initiate "Restart the Day" anymore. Bai Ye, like a ghost, controlled the time within the facility.

Let's give it a try.

The black-haired youth closed his golden eyes and began to recall a plot from a long time ago. He wondered how Dante's skill was used, something like opening a door and pulling in the sinner.

Door, door, door?

The black-haired youth was stunned to find himself standing in front of a huge door, from which came the stench of blood and the agonizing screams of pain. Seeing this, he began to hesitate. Should he really open that door like Dante in the game?

In a completely unnecessary situation? He only needs to wait, and after all the employees have died, he can use the TT2 protocol to rewind everything. Honglu can be resurrected by TT2 just like the other employees. Does he really need to take this risk himself?

A strange feeling stirred within the young man. Ever since he came into this world and entered this game, he had been constantly being pushed forward.

Only this matter, only exploring his own abilities, is a product of his own free will. Should he really give up here?

The young man gritted his teeth, walked to the door, and forcefully pulled on the handle of the huge door.

Two hands reached out from inside the door toward him, and this time he didn't hesitate.

He decisively grabbed those two hands, and intense pain surged through his body, the pain from his head and abdomen feeling as if it were tearing the young man apart alive.

But he still held those two hands tightly.

The young man opened his eyes again, and the cartoon character of Honglu had stood up on the screen once more.

He was revived, but died again immediately.

The young man almost couldn't help but laugh at the somewhat inexplicably comical scene.

Behind the young man, unnoticed, a pair of golden eyes were scrutinizing him.

Angela saw the young man first close his eyes, then let out a painful sound, and then, the guy on the screen was resurrected even though the TT2 protocol had not worked at all.

As the supervisor watched Honglu die again, he felt a chill down his spine. He turned around in confusion and found only Angela behind him, her eyes still closed.

This is truly bizarre.

The supervisor turned his head back to the screen, intending to wait patiently for the employees to die before restarting TT2.

As he looked, he noticed something was wrong: Honglu had been killed twice by a sickle, the wound being in her abdomen.

Why does my head hurt so much? And whose is the second, completely different hand?

The owner of the second hand opened his eyes blankly amidst the chaos, and slowly stood up, holding his head. Wasn't he dead?

Sinclair touched his perfectly intact golden head and fell into thought.

If he were still in the city, Sinclair would have no doubts after his resurrection, because it must have been Manager Dante who turned back the clock. But where is Manager Dante here?

Could it be?

"Manager Dante? Manager Dante, are you there?"

The blond boy called out his manager's name, but there was no response; the surroundings were deathly silent.

"Isn't it here?"

The blond boy was very downcast, but he immediately cheered up.

Does this prove that Manager Dante was with other people and turned back the clock for that person, incidentally reviving himself in the process?

"My Lord of English Whisky?"

From afar came the faint sound of people calling out their childhood nicknames; it was the Port Mafia.

Nomura, as the "ten-man leader" of the Black Lizard, was in a real predicament. Members of the cooperative organization were sniped while on a mission with him, and then blown up by a bomb. He was definitely going to be finished.

Even those with superpowers couldn't survive such an attack, let alone that blond kid who didn't have any superpowers at all. He just relied on being from another organization to get ahead of them in every way.

However, no matter how much he disliked that brat, Nomura had no choice but to continue searching. The leader had said he wanted to see him alive or dead.

If nothing can be found, Nomura himself will be turned into that "corpse" by the leader.

“Mr. Nomura, I’m here.”

Nomura was startled. The kid he thought was surely dead was now completely unharmed. Not only were there no injuries, but his clothes were also clean, without a single tear or stain.

He quickly concealed his impatience, replacing it with a worried expression, and said somewhat obsequiously to this adult who undoubtedly possessed some special ability:

"Are you alright? The explosion was incredibly powerful. Unlike you, who possesses powerful abilities, I'm just a low-level ability user; I couldn't possibly get close."

A special ability? I don't have one.

Sinclair was completely bewildered, looking at Nomura who had inexplicably become unusually polite.

Nomura watched as the English whiskey nodded at him, said nothing, and left without a word. But now he dared not look at him the way he had before.

"Miss Ryoshu! I just..."

As soon as he entered the room, Sinclair shouted that he had to tell Ryosuke that he had been resurrected, and that Manager Dante was also in this world!

As a result, the house was empty. Not only was Liangxiu not there, but the two children were also not there. Where did everyone go?

A boy with curly, iris-colored hair was passing by the door when he saw Sinclair, who hadn't closed the door in his excitement.

He leaned against the door and said lazily, "As for Miss Barbaresco, it seems she took Akutagawa, oh, Ryunosuke-kun, to a big hospital in Tokyo."

"You went to Tokyo?"

Sinclair realized the boy had changed his tune.

"She took Ryunosuke to Tokyo, but what about Gin?"

Dazai looked at the clearly distracted blond boy with some confusion:

"What's wrong? Has something happened that requires us to see Miss Barbaresco immediately?", such as an emergency recall by your organization.

These two have been in the Port Mafia's territory for a long time, which is obviously not right.

“As for Gin, he’s with Mr. Mori,” the boy added.

"Thank you, Dazai-kun."

Sinclair left those words and went straight to Mori Ōgai's office.
