Chapter 9 About Dreaming

Chapter 9 About Dreaming

On the third floor of the hot spring inn, a little boy with black hair seemed to be attracted by something and was lying motionless by the window.

"Shinichi! What on earth have you been looking at?!"

A long-haired girl of about ten years old tugged at the clothes of a boy her age and asked a question. The black-haired boy, who was being shaken by his childhood friend, was still staring intently out the window. Ran Mouri looked out in confusion, but there was nothing there but a dense forest.

"Lan, look over there, look down."

Noticing that his companion was looking in a slightly off-center direction, Shinichi Kudo finally noticed Ran Mouri and turned her head halfway around, so that it was facing diagonally downwards.

What exactly is there?

The little girl's curiosity was also piqued by the boy, and she planned to hold onto the window and stick her head out so she could look over there.

Shinichi Kudo was startled by her movement and quickly pulled Ran Mouri back.

“It’s too dangerous. Look like this,” he personally demonstrated the correct posture to the little girl, and Ran Mouri followed his angle and looked down.

On the smooth wall of the hotel's second floor, two suspiciously dressed men were hanging there, seemingly trying to climb out of the second-floor window. Both were dressed in black, but it was daytime.

Dressed like a typical movie villain, the little girl is pulling Shinichi Kudo along as they head to find their parents.

"Shinichi, let's hurry! Let's tell the landlady there's a thief here! No, a robber!"

Unlike the little girl who saw the two trying to break into the house right from the start, Shinichi Kudo had been secretly watching them the whole time.

Their movements were unusually swift, unlike those of thieves or robbers; one of them even carried a briefcase. To the young detective, these two seemed more like secret agents than thieves.

A female voice interrupted the young detective's train of thought as he was reasoning.

"Ah! Brother! What are you doing! Why did you come out without permission? Didn't I say I'd wait for you to come back?"

The voice belonged to a white-haired woman dressed in black, just like the wall-climbing duo. She stood in the open space outside the hotel, looking up at the duo hanging on the wall, who were about to smash the glass, with some anger.

The two of them froze, and the man with the same white hair as her suddenly let go of her hand.

Danger! Shinichi Kudo almost shouted out loud as he watched the man's actions.

In contrast, the man who landed straight on the ground seemed completely unaffected, as if the second floor was just two steps and falling from that height had no impact on him.

The two children stared in disbelief at this outrageous scene. Ran Mouri even pinched herself, but it didn't hurt. It seemed she was dreaming.

Shinichi Kudo, who was standing next to her, was grimacing. She asked him in confusion, "What's wrong with you?"

Shinichi Kudo wanted to know what was wrong with her and why she suddenly pinched herself.

With a whoosh, the second-floor window was opened.

Binah, looking displeased, and X, who, after being disturbed by the employee's escape, is finally free from going skiing.

"Algaria, I will inform Blood Mist about your unauthorized departure from the company."

A woman's voice came from inside the room. The man in black, who was still hanging on the wall, froze in place, staring blankly at his minister who had appeared before him.

Behind the minister, there was the death stare from his supervisor, making his heart pound so hard it felt like it was going to jump out of his mouth.

Now, the man whose name had been changed to "Potato" by his supervisor had only one thought in his mind: it's over. Both he and Lord Algaria are going to be packed up and sent to the disciplinary department by the minister!

I don't want to become a teaching bunny!

Standing at the edge of the forest, Angelica bit her lip and took her brother, who was always acting recklessly, away.

Roland, who was waiting for her not far away, winked at Bina as they were out of her sight and whispered words of comfort:

"The supervisor seemed very happy that we didn't have to go skiing."

The implication is that they will protect the two unexpected individuals once, even though level 5 employees are currently worthless in the company.

However, that idiot is a unique character, so it's not fair to just kill him off like that.

"Now that the company is shut down, the supervisors are still relatively easy to talk to. But what if the supervisor discovers that an employee is missing while at work..."

As an employee who had joined the company a few days earlier than Angelica, Roland had a fairly good understanding of his supervisor's nature.

Roland shrugged at Angelica, shut his mouth, and swallowed back the words that both of them knew.

On the third floor, two children who unexpectedly witnessed the dark side of the adult company unfolding before their eyes silently closed the window. The adult world is so scary.

Sinclair, who was far away in Yokohama, gave the two children a thumbs up.

The Yokohama Mafia sent a middle-aged man who called himself a colonel; he was not the young lady who had met with Gin earlier.

The colonel was also observing the people sent by the mysterious organization hidden in the shadows to assist in the investigation, a man and a woman. The man was about the same age as Hongye, or even a little younger, while the woman with short hair was of indeterminate age.

Where to check?

"Well, Miss Barbaresco means, where should we investigate?"

Is that organization crazy? Sending a woman who can't speak properly, and then sending a child to be her translator?

The colonel inwardly scoffed, but still wore a smile on his face. After all, with superhuman doctors rendered useless, this organization, whose main business was drug research, was their only hope.

He introduced the forces they suspected to the two who were visiting Yokohama for the first time.

"Currently, we are in conflict with two organizations: the Takase-kai, which is entrenched in the old town, and the GSS, which operates in the port area."

"Port Area?"

When Sinclair thinks of "port," his first thought is of the Marlin Harbor ship on the Great Lake in Area 21. Does this world also have a Great Lake like U Corporation?

The colonel looked at the blond boy, whose face showed both nostalgia and nervousness, and felt somewhat confused.

"You lived in the Minato Ward before?"

"No, I went to a huge port with my companions before," where I was kidnapped and extorted.

"Then you should take a good look at our Yokohama Port; it's the most beautiful place in the city," the colonel said with pride.

"Of course, after dealing with that bunch of GSS scum."

The colonel knew perfectly well that the leader's actions this time were not simply because the drugs had been stolen; inviting people from the organization was also a way to gain a good reputation.

Look, your own people lost the medicine, and we're still offering you a way out.

Moreover, the leader had long disliked those rampaging GSS swarms of insects—a bunch of second-rate mercenaries hiding in the shadows, trying to bring in reinforcements from abroad to expand their territory—a bunch of clowns.

Furthermore, the organization has made it clear that the members they sent this time are all skilled in killing, especially adept at surprise assassinations.

Unlike their Port Mafia, which operates openly in the city center, contacting this organization took considerable effort from the intelligence department.

Their members could attack people more recklessly than their own organization, and the leader, tired of dealing with the corrupt officials, accepted the organization's favor.

The colonel casually mentioned a tiny organization.

"There's a flock of lambs in Leibo Street. You don't need to worry about them at all; they're just a bunch of little kids."

Liangxiu's heart was inexplicably stirred again. What was in Leibo Street?

Sinclair was still there chatting with the colonel; the man was inexplicably talkative.

Where is Leibo Street?

"Of course...?"

The colonel instinctively replied, but then suddenly realized that it was that woman who had spoken.

"Is there anything to worry about, Miss Barbaresco?"

Liangxiu smoked a cigarette and turned to look in one direction. There was a body of water separating her from the port building. Something in that direction was urging her to go there.

This feeling is similar to being notified in Tokyo to go to Yokohama.

The colonel looked at the silent Barbaresco,

"Yes, that's Leibo Street."

He led the two away from the reception area. In the corridor, the Port Mafia members dressed in black suits bowed to the colonel. After the group disappeared into the elevator, they were curious about the identities of the two strangers that the police had led upstairs.

Apart from the doctor and his child, there haven't been any new faces in the Port Mafia lately.

"leader"

The colonel dropped the faint smile that had been on his face, straightened his expression, and knocked on the door with a solemn look.

"Miss Barbaresco and Mr. English Whiskey have arrived."

The door slowly opened, and the person who opened it was the newly hired private physician of the leader, Mori Ougai.

The somewhat disheveled middle-aged man gave the colonel a soft shushing, then turned and closed the door.

"The leader has just gone to sleep."

The colonel understood and lowered his voice to say to the two men, "I'm sorry, it seems I'll have to wait two hours to come back and visit again."

Liangxiu stood by the window, looking at the area that became clearer due to the change in altitude.

Even from this distance, the huge crater is still clearly visible, as if it had been bombed by some giant bomb.

"Ah, that's Leibo Street."

The colonel walked to the window and introduced Barbaresco to...

"Pit-shaped"

"Miss Barbaresco, do you mean how that crater formed?"

Sinclair's mouth moved faster than his brain; he translated Ryoshu's words, only realizing belatedly, "What a trap! Wasn't he talking about Leibo Street?"

He walked to the window, looked through the glass across the inner bay, and gazed at the opposite side.

Mori Ōgai looked at the two unexpected strangers.

Who are these two?

Barbaresco, an English whisky, are these two names just code names?

"These are the chief's guests," it's not something a doctor like you can interfere with.

Mori Ougai understood the colonel's implication, but having met with a firm but not overly forceful rebuff, he could only shut up.

He had only been here for a week, serving as the leader's personal physician, and the officers' attitude towards him was generally the same as the colonel's: lukewarm.

Unlike the short-haired woman who exuded an imposing aura, the blond boy who acted as Liang Yu's translator was rather unremarkable. He looked not much older than Dazai. Was he an esper?

"Please follow me, both of you," the colonel said, leading the two men away from the floor where the chief's office was located. If they stayed there for too long, the chief would wake up and start to become suspicious again. It would be the colonel who would suffer, not them.
