Chapter 120 About the Strange Guest
Inside the library, the librarian, with short blue hair, was talking with her attendant when she sensed the arrival of the guests.
According to her intuition, this time it was the molar clinic, and she had already seen what the people who signed the invitation had gone through.
Now, it was time to greet the guests. The curator snapped his fingers and teleported to the guest entrance.
But what she saw was not the molar clinic she had imagined. The number of people standing there only matched the invitation, but the people were completely different.
Three figures of the same height were sizing each other up. Two of them looked exactly alike, differing only in their expressions, while the last figure was vastly different from the other two.
His head wasn't a human one; instead, a red, old-fashioned clock was perched on his neck, ticking frantically.
As if knowing that no one could understand his ticking, he waved his arms, trying to communicate with the two men using body language.
"What's wrong, Director?" Roland followed, only to find that the library director, who had just been chatting with him, was unusually pale.
Logically speaking, as a robot, she shouldn't have such human-like functions, but... the immense turmoil within her has uncontrollably affected her physical body.
The highly intelligent body faithfully anthropomorphized its master's overreaction.
Because of Roland's voice, both the guest number one, who was collapsing on the spot, and the guests number two and three, who were looking at each other in bewilderment, looked over here.
“Angela?” one of the two, who looked like twins, asked, his tone uncertain.
X, who was working, was suddenly pulled over and looked at the secretary in front of him who had changed her clothes and cut her hair. He hesitated.
He just made an Angela? Angela changed her appearance so fast? Is this some new skill she's learned?
But what's Roland doing here? Shouldn't he be somewhere deleting data?
The bewildered supervisor decided to go see Ain, who had suddenly appeared.
Hmm, it should be Ein, I think. It shouldn't be Adam suddenly putting on a wig to fool him, right...?
Fortunately, Adam wasn't really that idle; the person in front of X was the real Ein, or rather, A.
The clock, which had been ticking away, looked towards Angela, who was standing not far away.
He recognized this; it was AI from Lobotomy Corporation, and he even had her voice broadcast!
If the atmosphere hadn't been so tense, he would have sounded the horn. What on earth was going on?!
He had just told the prisoners to finish their work, and yet something went wrong at this crucial moment?!
Dante hoped they would find him soon. He glanced at the two people staring at each other, then at the two men with unfriendly expressions, and sensed something was wrong.
Please! Virgilius has to find me before I kick the bucket!!
"Welcome to the library. I am Angela, the librarian."
Roland noticed that her curator's tone had changed. After several receptions, she had developed some "humanity," but after seeing these people who were clearly not from the molar clinic, that newfound "humanity" disappeared.
For a moment, Roland thought that this was still the Angela who had cut off his hands and feet the moment they met, before everything had happened.
And you? There are clearly two, uh, three people standing here, including that clock face guy, so who is she talking to?
"Long time no see, looks like you're doing well," A said, looking at Angela, who was living for herself.
As he was speaking, he felt a sharp nudge on his waist. It was X. A looked over in confusion. Was there something wrong with what he said?
X received A's message, and all he could think was, this isn't just a problem, it's a huge problem! Even he could sense something was off. Your words were so sarcastic!
Even if you mean it literally, it's hard not to make people overthink it. What if Angela thinks you're being sarcastic or sarcastic?!
A's eyes were full of sincerity; he meant exactly what he said. He saw that Angela was in good condition, which was why he said it!
Meanwhile, Dante clutched his watch in pain. He had come with these two, and he was worried that he would get beaten up along with them.
There are no criminals here, so he can't mediate even if he wants to.
Just as he was starting to despair, Angela, who had been "controlled by Yin and Yang," smiled. She seemed to have heard the words without thinking, replying as if she had only taken them literally:
"Yes, I'm doing very well here."
"But how did you end up in the library?"
She had clearly witnessed this man's demise with her own eyes; not only him, but even Carmen's brain...
As if echoing Angela's thoughts, a ghost, a ghost hovering above Lobotomy Corporation, slowly appeared behind Dante, who was still covering the watch face.
The wicked ghost was planning something bad, but she made a mistake: Dante didn't actually see through the watch face he was covering. The moment she appeared, Dante saw this woman who looked exactly like Angela, except for her hair.
"Tch, you can actually see from behind?" The blue-haired "librarian" was somewhat disappointed that he hadn't scared this junior who was still suffering from amnesia.
But the person who was frightened, or rather, provoked by her, was someone else entirely.
Angela was like a cat whose territory had been invaded by a strange creature, her whole body filled with vigilance.
"Who are you?!" she asked, not believing that A had prepared a second unit when it created her.
“Carmen.” A looked at her senior, whom she hadn’t seen in a long time but who was still full of energy, with some unfathomable emotions in her eyes.
Seeing that neither catching up nor receiving guests could proceed normally, Angela simply snapped her fingers and moved them all away.
Within the literary section, both the designated librarians (hod) and assistant librarians stood in a row to one side.
Hod's expression was complicated. She wanted to speak, but hesitated. In the end, she could only huddle together with the current manager and former employees.
That's right, the employees, crammed together, were terrified to see two supervisors at once.
One of the long-time employees who had followed the supervisor to the very end almost burst into tears. He wanted to ask what the supervisor had been doing all this time, and whether he was really dead.
However, his companions grabbed his clothes tightly, while the new employees looked like they had seen a ghost, their backs almost drenched in cold sweat.
When Alfred saw that expressionless face, his heart began to pound, faster and faster.
There's no other reason than that seeing two supervisors at once is too much of a shock to my heart; one would have been enough to make it even more exciting.
What Alfred didn't know was that there were actually three supervisors here, except that the last one wasn't wearing a human head.
The assistant librarians, whether delighted or surprised, were all sent to other floors by the librarian, leaving only a few of them here.
Angela stared at A without saying a word. She could clearly discern the relationship between them: the one who couldn't speak was Ein, the one who didn't seem very bright was X, and the remaining one… she could sense the connection between them, but! Where was his head?! Who took his head?!
The curator suddenly became inexplicably angry; she hated them and had indeed betrayed him.
But! This is between them, whether it causes the Seed of Light project to fail or whatever other messy things happen.
But if someone were to take "A" away right in front of her, and then take his head, that kind of thing... that kind of thing...
"Hey, what's wrong? Are you feeling unwell?" Carmen, still dressed as Angela from her Lobotomy Corporation days, darted over with remarkable agility.
He grabbed the child, who had been twisting his body for no apparent reason, and pressed him back into his seat, startling Dante, who was deep in thought.
The executive manager, unaware of the background, was pondering a question: Who is he? Where is he? Oh, he's in the library.
But that's the biggest problem: why is he in a library that's supposedly long gone?!
Use your brain!
What did they just say?
Think quickly... Did that servant in black mention "molars"?
"Were you originally planning to invite Olga from the molar clinic here?" he muttered seriously.
Then, he retreated in frustration, as no one there could understand him.
But to Dante's surprise, as soon as he finished ticking, everyone except Roland, who could only hear the clock ticking, and Hod, who was looking at Carmen's version of Angela with a complicated expression, looked at him.
It was as if they could understand him; it wasn't just as if, they really could understand him.
“That’s right, this reception is indeed for everyone at the Molar Dental Clinic, but there’s one thing you’re not saying correctly,” Angela said, her emotions calming down a bit. “We didn’t invite Olga, whom you mentioned, but Otis.”
"Ah." / "Ah." X and Dante both realized something.
This is not their timeline; this is the mirror world belonging to Otis.
They had completely stumbled upon this place. Dante thought about it a step further, wondering if he had extracted too many personalities today, causing the Mephistopheles engine to throw him away.
Ain did not join their "ah" team.
He was different from them; in a way, he was the "X" in this world, and he should have been immersed in the light.
But... Carmen from their world pushed him down, because when the "self" from that other world came, it wasn't him who came.
He was carrying a red clock at the time, and Carmen used that clock to take his place, making him come down and talk to the troubled child.
The other two, whether they were the ones with heads or the ones without, could be said to have been implicated by him.
The fake Angela was cheering him on, while the real Angela was staring at him expressionlessly.
As Ein and Angela were having a serious talk, Dante made a crisp sound, like a radio crackling.
X seemed to see a small light bulb light up above Dante's head, and the incredibly wise administrator pulled out his terminal from somewhere.
Dante looked at the terminal in his hand, which he had placed so much hope in. The little light bulb went out with a snap. He didn't know if there was no signal here, or if no one had really noticed that he was missing.
In short, he received no messages, and his hope of seeking help through this channel was dashed.
The man who had been watching him seemed completely unfazed and even prepared to chat with him.
Even Miss Carmen is the same. Could he be the strangest one here?

Author's note: A is the X on the library line.
Dante represents our X-previous state, having just finished Mama's chapter.
I'm an AX monistic believer, but our X, because of Dante, well... might not seem that smart. [doge emoji]
