Who is Su Ze?
Back then, he was the brightest rising star at the First Military Academy. If it weren't for that incident where he defected to Liuli Island, Su Ze might have already secured his position as the director of the First Military Academy's research institute.
Back then, he settled down on the island, barely alive, and in just three months he integrated dozens of underground gangs, large and small.
For those three months, the river water on the outlying island was all red.
He paid the price of half his face to turn the deserted island into his own domain, Su Ze's.
-------------------------------------
Ruan Chen was still asleep when the helicopter landed on Liuli Island.
I slept for eleven hours straight.
Seeing that she was sleeping too soundly, Tianlang was a little worried that something might happen to the genius that the boss had specifically requested, so he woke her up and made her eat something.
He was holding a glass of lemonade, about to bring it to his lips, when a pale hand reached out from the side and snatched the glass from her.
Ruan Chen gnawed on a piece of dry, compressed bread and downed the glass of lemonade in one gulp.
Sirius's pupils contracted slightly—Ruan Chen's movements were too fast. He was ranked among the top twenty mercenaries, and even if he wasn't on guard, he shouldn't have let a little girl easily take what was in his hand.
In other words, if Ruan Chen had wanted to kill him just now, he might have already succeeded.
Ruan Chen pushed the glass of water in front of her towards Tianlang and said in a casual, slightly sleepy tone, "You shouldn't be drinking lemon water because of your illness. Didn't the doctor tell you that?"
After saying that, Ruan Chen didn't seem to expect Tianlang to answer her and continued to sleep with her knees drawn up to her chest.
The aircraft lurched slightly before landing.
Tianlang was about to wake Ruan Chen up, and since she had been relatively well-behaved the whole way, he wanted to give her a few more words of advice on how to be sensible and obedient in front of Brother Ze, but Su Ze actually boarded the helicopter himself!
"Brother Ze."
Tianlang got up to greet him, but Su Ze pointed a finger at him gently, signaling him to be quiet.
Su Ze's skeletal face was covered by a half-silver mask. As soon as he stepped into the cabin, the originally spacious space suddenly felt somewhat cramped.
He bent down and gently picked up Ruan Chen, who was sleeping lightly, and wiped the bread crumbs from her lips with his thumb.
Tianlang keenly noticed that although his elder brother's face was expressionless, his fingertips were trembling slightly the moment he touched Ruan Chen.
A thought struck Tianlang: his older brother was wearing a mask today, which was unusual for him. Could it be that he was afraid of scaring the little girl?
It rained for a day and a night in Grahamston. Su Ze carried Ruan Chen down the gangway, and several black umbrellas were immediately placed over their heads.
The bodyguards were perceptive enough to see how much their boss cherished the girl in his arms. Despite the heavy rain, Su Ze's shoulders were soaked with water, while Ruan Chen hadn't gotten a single drop of rain on her.
"Awake? You can sleep quite a bit."
Ruan Chen opened her eyes groggily, and all she could see was a continuous curtain of rain. In the huge airport, there was only a group of men in black, each wearing a half-skull badge on their collar.
The man's deep voice reached her ears, "You've slept the whole way, want to get off and walk around?"
"OK."
Ruan Chen was about to get down when the man hugged her tighter. "The water is too deep. Forget it. The medical conditions on the outlying island are thirty years behind those in China. Even a cold is a serious illness here."
"So, this is your reason for kidnapping Fengzi and the others?" Ruan Chen stretched out her finger, curiously tracing half of the mask on the man's face, not afraid at all, and asked with a smile.
Her fingers slid down the body and finally landed on the man's throbbing carotid artery.
"Ruan Chen, stop fooling around," the man said with a natural, reproachful tone, completely unconcerned that his weakness had been exploited. "Don't you know how heavy you are?"
The most luxurious hotel on the outlying island.
After taking a shower, Ruan Chen, still steaming from the water, changed into comfortable pajamas and sat on the edge of the bed. While turning her head to wring out the water from her hair, she asked the man leaning against the window, "What do you want me to do?"
She rolled her eyes and teased with a smile, "Patching the vulnerabilities in your flawed anti-tracking system?"
Su Ze ignored her mockery, pulled her in front of him, and roughly dried Ruan Chen's hair with a towel, saying as he did so, "Still have the nerve to laugh? You think your skills are so great? In the end, I still found you. You're thirteen years old and you're still so short. Are you all talk and no action? The Ruan family is so wealthy, how come they raised you to be so stunted? Didn't your mother even give you some supplements?"
Ruan Chen's eyes suddenly turned cold.
She pushed Su Ze away, staggered back a few steps, and asked in a hoarse voice, "Who are you?"
Looking at Ruan Chen, who was full of wariness, Su Ze saw the shadow of another person through her.
He asked softly, "How is A-Rao now? I didn't approve of her being with that guy surnamed Ruan back then, but I haven't been back to China all these years. Later I heard that the man she found is quite successful..."
"She is dead."
The girl's voice was as firm as iron, interrupting Su Ze.
She gritted her teeth, looking out at the endless rain curtain over the island of Liuli, her eyes filled with desolation, "Burned alive, their bodies torn to pieces."
Su Ze's hand, which was gripping the towel, suddenly dropped, the veins on the back of his hand bulging, and his fingers twitching slightly uncontrollably.
The two remained silent for a long time in the small space of the hotel room.
Finally, Su Ze pulled a necklace with a cold, moon-white sheen from around his neck, lowered his eyes, and put it on Ruan Chen's wrist. His voice was hoarse as he said, "Ruan Chen, I am your uncle."
“When you were born, I only had time to see you once in the hospital. You were all red and wrinkled, like a hairless little monkey. Who knew you would grow up to be even more beautiful than your mother was back then?”
“I went to Jingzhou the day after you were born. Eight years ago I came to Liuli Island and have never returned to China.”
“My parents passed away early, and the assets they left behind are enough for A Rao to live a comfortable life, so I haven’t paid much attention to her all these years.”
“Arao is strong-willed, and I seem to have gotten used to not caring about her much, but she cares about me more.”
"To be honest, my reputation in China isn't very good. I was considered a defector back then. You can probably guess what I'm doing from what I do."
"This morning, an old friend of mine in China sent me your information, and that's when I found out that the person who hacked my system yesterday was A Rao's child."
"Ruan Chen, is A Rao's matter... related to the Ruan family?"
Ruan Chen nodded.
Su Ze gently combed her long, smooth hair, and said coldly, "I can't go back to China, but killing Ruan Zhengde isn't difficult either."
"Don't kill him," Ruan Chen said, picking up a stray strand of hair. "He got off too easily."
Su Ze paused, a hint of a smile appearing in his light brown eyes. "I'll listen to you."
"I have something to take care of with Lin Fengzi and the others. Once it's done, I'll let them go. You don't need to worry about your friend."
“Three hours ago, I reached some agreements with the National Medical College, and I suffered a small loss, but it was all thanks to you.”
"As for you... I originally really 'asked' you to help me with something, but now it seems that you need me more."
Ruan Chen sneered through her nose, snatched her hair from Su Ze's hand, quickly tied it up to reveal her slender neck, and tilted her head with a smile, "What do I need from you?"
Looking at the girl's stubborn eyes, Su Ze chuckled and sighed, "Your strong-willed nature is just like A Rao's."
"You need me as family."
