“Fool,” Fu Chengyu wasn’t angry, but laughed instead, “This is a notorious den of iniquity in Jingzhou.”
The driver, probably worried that he had taken the wrong route and wouldn't get paid, said ingratiatingly, "Of course, places like this are not for ordinary people like us. Only people from families like Young Master Fu's can afford to go there."
A burst of laughter erupted in the car, which Fu Chengyu found amusing. Coupled with the neon lights outside the window and the effects of alcohol, he blurted out, "Then let's spend the night here. It's on me, and you come too."
The driver's ingratiation turned into unease and fear as he looked at the dazzling lights outside and the alluring young women on the roadside holding flyers and soliciting customers with sweet and tempting smiles.
His eyes clearly showed his desire, but he still declined, saying, "Young Master Fu, this is really not a place for people like us. If you get off here, I'll settle the bill. Your friend gave me five hundred, which I don't even need, so I'll return it to you."
Even so, the driver couldn't help but glance at the few pretty girls outside the car window.
They're both men, how could Fu Chengyu not know what he was thinking?
In the past, Fu Chengyu would have been too lazy to talk to such a lowly person in his eyes, but today he thought he had outmaneuvered Fu Jianzhi, and after drinking too much and listening to too much boasting, he found the driver's attitude quite agreeable.
So Fu Chengyu got out of the car, opened the driver's side door, and pulled the driver out by the shoulder, saying, "Don't be shy, I'll cover all the expenses tonight!"
Hou Man's two cronies, who were also quite drunk, joined in the jeering, "Young Master Fu is so generous!"
At this moment, Ruan Chen is watching anime while hugging a pillow. She slept in extra during the day so that she would be energetic to watch the show at night.
Yu Xiaoya rested her head on Ruan Chen's lap, hugging her phone and grinning foolishly.
"It's taken the bait," Ruan Chen said calmly.
Yu Xiaoya was immediately invigorated.
Ruan Chen texted the person on the other end of the phone: "Take it slow and steady, don't let yourself get away."
Fu Chengyu dragged the driver into those flashy shops, and the deafening noises could be heard from a great distance.
The driver kept glancing at the girls, but even under the influence of alcohol, Fu Chengyu knew his limits. He was currently at a critical moment in his confrontation with Fu Jianzhi and didn't want to ruin his reputation or sow the seeds of future trouble because of lust.
So she only booked a booth, ordered two bottles of foreign liquor, and called two pretty young girls to pour the drinks; she was very tactful in everything else.
The driver quickly lost interest in the girls, finding them all attractive but not tangible, and instead became interested in the machines located deeper inside the bar.
He seemed not to understand what it was, and not daring to ask Young Master Fu beside him, he quietly took a picture with his phone.
Fu Chengyu didn't gamble much, only occasionally playing a few rounds with his friends. He caught a glimpse of the driver secretly checking the gambling machines, and his superior sense of entitlement returned. "Slot machines? Never played them before?"
The driver smiled sheepishly, "I've heard of it, seen it in Hong Kong movies, but this is the first time I've seen it in real life."
"Want to play a couple of rounds?" Fu Chengyu thought he could see right through the driver's thoughts.
The driver's expression was the same as before; he clearly wanted to try, but still waved his hand, "How could I dare to do this? No, no."
Fu Chengyu was amused by his cowardly appearance and laughed heartily. He then grabbed the driver's collar and stood up, which was very disrespectful to him. However, the driver showed no anger. Ever since he entered this place, his expression had been one of humility.
"Come on, let's play a few rounds, it's on my tab."
Fu Chengyu and his group pulled the driver to exchange the chips, then stood by with their arms crossed, watching to see how distressed and scared the driver would be after losing all his money.
But after a few rounds, the expressions of the group changed. Fu Chengyu, who had been leaning against the machine, stood up and stared intently at the driver and the machine.
I played five rounds and only lost one.
The few chips the driver had in his hand had now become more than a dozen.
The driver had just gone with Fu Chengyu to exchange chips. Each chip was worth 10,000. At first, his hands were shaking when he put down the chips, but after winning over 100,000, his hands shook even more.
How long would he have to work hard to earn that much money?
Fu Chengyu casually took a chip from the driver's hand, threw it into the machine, and a few seconds later the result came out: he had lost.
Fu Chengyu frowned, exhaled a breath of alcohol, and threw in another chip.
We lost again.
Gambling involves winning and losing, which Fu Chengyu knew and understood, but he couldn't accept that his luck was worse than that of a lowly driver.
He pointed to the machine, signaling for the driver to come over.
One chip is thrown in, and five chips come out.
“Young Master Fu, luck is unpredictable,” the driver said, knowing that Fu Chengyu was upset about losing two rounds in a row. “You’re a big businessman who makes a living with your brains. You can’t rely on these luck-based machines.”
These words struck a chord with Fu Chengyu.
The driver looked around timidly, then carefully whispered in Fu Chengyu's ear, "Young Master Fu, there are tricks involved in these machines. I know that. I've seen it on TV. Let's call it a day and get out of here quickly, otherwise they might not acknowledge the wins I've had."
Fu Chengyu burst into laughter, laughing until tears streamed down his face. He really liked this fool's self-righteousness.
Fu Chengyu knew the bars and underground casinos here. There were only a few businesses in Jingzhou that did this kind of business, and none of them would be so low as to tamper with such basic machines.
But he was too lazy to explain to the driver. To prove that his two losses were just bad luck, he pointed to the VIP room inside and asked, "Do you know any other games? Have you learned any from TV?"
The driver shook his head and nodded, and after a while said, "My family plays games during the New Year, but they're usually only ten or eight yuan... Isn't this illegal?"
Fu Chengyu laughed again, amused by him, and thought that after he had had his fill of playing with this guy, he would want to keep him by his side as a driver and a little toy to relieve his boredom.
"I'll teach you a lesson tonight."
Fu Chengyu tossed out a dark gold card at the chip exchange counter, saying, "Exchange for ten chips worth 100,000 each."
At the same time, Ruan Chen received a photo.
In the dim light at the entrance to the casino at the deepest part of the bar, Fu Chengyu bought a pass to enter the 1VIP area for one million.
That was also a pass to hell that Ruan Chen had prepared for him.
