Chapter 344 The Prophecy of Her

"He's basically finished," Ye Zian shrugged. "I don't know about the money he owes to other companies. But within our Ye family's company, you extended the debt of 320 million for him for six months, and then he lost almost another 200 million in the past week, all of which need to be settled in the next few days. The question now is when do we detonate this bomb, or do we continue to nurture it?"

“My idea is to expose both things at the same time when the Jin Gang Garden undergoes quality inspection next year, mainly to save trouble,” Ruan Chen said. “Besides, I’m going abroad in a few days, and I don’t know how long I’ll be gone. I don’t want to miss this good show.”

When Ye Zian heard that she was going abroad and didn't know how long she would be gone, she was a little worried and asked a few more questions, "Will you encounter any danger? Does your mother know? Is it convenient for you to tell your uncle where you are going? Perhaps our Ye family can arrange for someone to take care of you."

“It’s alright. The Fu and Ruan families both have businesses there. It’s just a technical issue. The server is overseas, so I have to go and take a look myself.”

Only after she said that did Ye Zian feel relieved.

Tao Ran then whispered in Ruan Chen's ear, "I'm saying, are we going to have to save the world again?"

Ruan Chen: How come I never noticed before that Tao Ran was so mentally ill?

-------------------------------------

Su Jin has always been reliable in handling the matters that Ruan Chen has given him.

Three days later in class, Ruan Chen received a message from Su Jin: "Tonight's flight, twelve hours, arriving tomorrow at noon. Your role is as a technical support personnel provided by the Ruan Group to the Fu Group. We have sent a total of three people."

"By the way, a medical aid team without borders just recently departed from Liuli Island and arrived in the Northern Islands a few days ago. My uncle has some people on board. You can contact them if needed."

Ruan Chen followed the leave application process and got his leave approved by the department. He originally wanted to say goodbye to Nan Jing, but Nan Jing was away on a business trip. Ruan Chen left the Pu'er tea he had brought for him in the office and left.

The plane landed the next day in the early morning of the Northern Islands.

Ruan Chen was pressed for time and wanted to go to the Chinese base in the Northern Islands as soon as she landed to work on the protective shield and technical screening, but she was stopped by the overseas personnel of the Ruan Group who came to pick her up.

She noticed disbelief in the man's eyes as he looked at her.

"Miss, although Mr. Su instructed you to have your own business here and not to interfere too much, for your own safety, we request that you go out tonight."

"Why?" Ruan Chen asked, puzzled.

Although the indigenous people of the Northern Islands have always harbored a sense of hostility towards humans, the pace of integration between civilizations has accelerated in recent centuries. Many young indigenous people of the Northern Islands are friendly towards outsiders, and the intermarriage rate is increasing. As a result, there are very few ethnic conflicts like those of the past few centuries, let alone serious incidents that endanger personal safety.

Sitting in the car on the way to the hotel, Ruan Chen heard a story she had never heard before.

The Nguyen Group's overseas representative said with a wry smile, "Second Miss, I know this sounds absurd, and in our view, it's just superstition and supernatural phenomena. But the local Spirit Clan people firmly believe in it, insisting that it's a miracle and a divine revelation to them."

“If this superstitious belief hadn’t emerged, Miss, you would be able to move freely in the Northern Islands. But now this belief is a great threat to your personal safety. Not to mention you, even the pretty young ladies among our expatriate colleagues are afraid to go out recently. Even if they do go out, they will wear heavy makeup, wigs, and local clothes.”

Ruan Chen looked out the window at the buildings of the Northern Islands. Due to the fusion of various cultures, the buildings had a very exotic feel, and occasionally traces of Chinese culture could be seen between the tiles.

A black limousine weaved through the streets. Ruan Chen saw two little boys dressed in local Ling tribe clothing by the roadside, handing out handwritten pamphlets to passersby and explaining something.

He has a missionary feel to him.

Ruan Chen asked, "The two local boys must be spreading the word about the divine revelation you mentioned, right? What exactly is the content of the revelation? Why do you say this poses a threat to me? And do our people have that booklet? I'd like to see it."

The overseas staff gave a simple and straightforward answer: "They just said the world is going to end—the same old doomsday prophecies that we've heard plenty of over the years, and the authorities often deny them."

"They said this time that a god has spoken, and the one who will destroy the world is a woman from China. I don't know her specific appearance, and I haven't seen the contents of that booklet either. But you are so beautiful, Miss, and your features and black hair clearly indicate that you are Chinese. So we should be careful."

Ruan Chen felt that although this person was protecting her, he must be hiding something.

At first, the person who stopped her from going out during the day looked very serious and flustered, but now he spoke of it as if it were nothing.

"Stop the car," Ruan Chen ordered calmly.

"Miss, the hotel is just ahead. If you need anything, we can discuss it when we get there."

“My requirement is that you stop the car now,” Ruan Chen’s tone became authoritative, somewhat cold, and brooked no refusal. “Otherwise, you can go back to China tomorrow. The Ruan Group doesn’t need a subordinate like you who doesn’t obey orders.”

Seeing Ruan Chen's firm attitude, the staff stationed abroad realized that their explanation had not convinced the second young lady.

He slammed on the brakes. "Miss, if you want to see that booklet, I'll get you a copy, but please don't get out of the car—you're now the enemy of the entire island."

A few minutes later, Ruan Chen received the booklet made of mulberry paper, which emitted a peculiar smoky fragrance.

Upon opening the first page, Ruan Chen understood why this person was so determined to prevent him from showing himself in broad daylight.

“If headquarters had shown me your photo before, I definitely wouldn’t have let you come,” the overseas staff member said with a wry smile. “Before seeing you, we didn’t even take this so-called divine revelation seriously. Seeing you today made us realize that booklet…”

He didn't finish his sentence, but Ruan Chen had already seen it with her own eyes.

That booklet was a comic strip drawn with charcoal pencils, and every page featured Ruan Chen.

Ruan Chen, piloting a warship, swooped down towards the city, raising his gun to aim at the crowd...
