Flights to China.
"Yunhan, get some sleep. We'll be landing in three hours."
Su Jin, with his long arms and legs, looked at the woman beside him whose eyes were slightly red and swollen, and whose eyes were bloodshot, and said softly.
Ruan Yunhan forced a smile. She always listened to Su Jin—initially she was forced to, and she would be beaten if she disobeyed. But after she took a knife for Su Jin in the United States, Su Jin's attitude towards her became much kinder, and he no longer forced her to do things she didn't want to do.
The relationship between the two was surprisingly harmonious.
When they strolled side by side along the tree-lined avenues of Country F in the afternoon, everyone would praise them as a perfect couple.
Ruan Yunhan answered softly, "Okay."
Then she closed her eyes. Su Jin reached out and, in an intimate, almost hugging gesture, adjusted the seat back for Ruan Yunhan and brought a blanket to cover her.
After doing all this, Su Jin sat back in his seat, put on his earphones, and listened to the recording again.
There was also a video clip taken from the surveillance footage, which Su Jin received just before the plane took off and his phone was turned off.
Su Jin watched the video for a long time before he remembered that he had seen the woman in Ruan Yunhan's phone album. However, apart from the similar outline, the elegant woman and the woman in the surveillance video who looked like a reincarnated starving ghost had no resemblance whatsoever.
Although Ruan Yunhan had her eyes closed, she was filled with mixed feelings. All sorts of past events surfaced in her mind, making her heart even more chaotic.
Since Yu Wanqing went to prison, she has indeed not contacted her biological mother even once.
Firstly, there was resentment. She initially hated Yu Wanqing for making such a foolish move, causing her to drug Tao Ran.
Later, she began to resent Yu Wanqing for giving up a comfortable life in Europe and instead acting like Ruan Zhengde, a dog who would bring his two children to serve as his pawns at his mere beckoning.
Then Ruan Yunhan realized that Yu Wanqing depended on Ruan Zhengde for survival, and she couldn't possibly disobey her demands. So Ruan Yunhan began to resent Yu Wanqing for being so ungrateful as to provoke Ruan Zhengde.
Yu Wanqing had told Ruan Yunhan about her sordid affair with Ruan Zhengde back then—how she figured out Ruan Zhengde's extraordinary background and deliberately arranged a chance encounter; how she used some means to get pregnant with Ruan Zhengde's son after learning that Ruan Zhengde was going to return to China to marry into the Ye family; and how she kept Ruan Zhengde's heart while he was in China all these years.
Oh, by the way, Yu Wanqing also said that even the birth of her twins was the result of deliberate medical intervention—the boy would inherit the family business as the eldest son, and the girl would secure a marriage alliance for her brother to solidify her position—what a perfect arrangement.
“Ajin”.
When she called out that name, she didn't open her eyes to make sure the man beside her heard her call.
She kept her eyes closed, afraid that if she opened them, tears would stream down her face in front of him.
She asked, "Do you prefer boys or girls? If we have a son and a daughter in the future, how will you plan their lives?"
Su Jin took off his headphones to listen to Ruan Yunhan speak, and a look of guilt appeared in his eyes when he heard Ruan Yunhan's question.
Su Jin gripped the earphones in his hand so tightly that he almost deformed the delicate components inside.
Ruan Yunhan didn't seem to care whether he answered or not.
After a long silence, Ruan Yunhan finally received an answer.
Su Jin placed his hand on her forehead. "I don't like children. What's the point of all the noise? There are many people in the Su family, and we won't be any less than the two of us—we'll just live like this for the rest of our lives. You'll come with me to the places I want to go, and I'll go with you to the places you want to go."
Ruan Yunhan smiled slightly, closed her eyes, and faced the direction where Su Jin was, where there was light.
She asked, somewhat childlike, "What will we do when we get old?"
"Getting old?" Su Jin seemed to have thought of something interesting and laughed. "When we get old, we'll go to a nursing home together. If any old men in the nursing home bully you, just tell me, and I'll stand up for you."
After the aircraft slowed down for a while, it came to a stop, and Ruan Yunhan got up to get off.
"Yunhan, I have something to take care of. I'll come find you later."
Ruan Yunhan wasn't angry. "Then hurry up and be careful."
Su Jin said meaningfully, "You too... Also, if anyone makes things difficult for you, don't rush into a conflict, wait for me."
Ruan Yunhan didn't take it seriously. "My mother is already like this. If my father had even a shred of humanity left, he wouldn't bring up my relationship with that old man from the Song family at this time."
Su Jin didn't respond to that, but picked up Ruan Yunhan's bag and handed it to her, saying, "You can go down now."
He stood in the cabin, watching Ruan Yunhan's retreating figure.
The Ruan family's car was parked not far away. Ruan Yunhan didn't suspect anything and naturally handed her bag to the driver before getting into the back seat.
She instructed, "Go to the city hospital."
The driver replied respectfully, "Yes, Miss."
The car that the Ruan family sent to pick her up was very well decorated, with the interior set up according to Ruan Yunhan's preferences, and the aromatherapy was also Ruan Yunhan's favorite scent.
Her guard was slightly lowered; it turned out that her father still cared about her.
Her fingers brushed against the plush backrest cushion of the back seat, her gaze finally settling on another spot. Her eyes changed instantly, and the tears she had been holding back all the way finally burst forth.
There was a music box there, with a little girl in a gorgeous lace dress standing on tiptoe in the very center of the castle.
Ruan Yunhan subconsciously reached out and turned the little girl around, watching her dance to the music.
Ruan Zhengde gave her an identical one as a birthday present when she turned eight.
At that time, she was studying at a prestigious school in a small European country. Because her father was not around, she was ostracized by several girls in her class.
Once, a girl brought a music box to school and immediately became the focus of attention during recess, with a group of children surrounding her, wanting to touch it.
Ruan Yunhan also went, and as expected, she was ostracized and ridiculed, and finally pushed down and slapped several times without knowing how hard she was.
That night, after returning home, she sent a video to Nguyen Chinh Duc, crying and complaining to him. She thought that her father would ignore her as before and at most send his secretary to solve the problem. However, a few days later, Nguyen Chinh Duc actually flew to this small country in person.
That day was her birthday. The girls who bullied her were expelled from school, and this music box was a gift that Ruan Zhengde brought to her from China.
Ruan Yunhan pondered in her heart, perhaps... she really made a mistake by leaving the Ruan family that day. She heard that her father had been having a hard time lately, and she should probably do something about it.
But Dad must be very sad, right? Will he still be willing to listen to my explanation? And what should I explain? Was I wrong or not?
A few days ago, I even hit the person my father sent to pick me up.
She pulled herself out of her chaotic thoughts, turned her gaze to the window, and suddenly felt that this road seemed wrong.
This is a dark and narrow tree-lined avenue.
But the city hospital is in the city center, so how could it be located on such a road?
Is this the way to the city hospital?
The driver remained calm. "Miss, the main roads in the city are under construction, so we'll take a detour through the suburbs. Please don't mind."
