Chapter 184 Ruan Chen, your homework

"What?" Ruan Chen squinted innocently. "I spent my winter break teaching on Liuli Island. By the way, the South Institute is quite short of people on Liuli Island. Should our college consider organizing students to teach there?"

"Our First Affiliated Hospital?" Nan Jing looked at the mischievous girl with a smile in his eyes. "Have you decided to study in our First Affiliated Hospital? Giving up raising fish?"

Ruan Chen lowered his head awkwardly and coughed.

All four universities reserved her admission.

Nan Jing rarely saw Ruan Chen looking so embarrassed, so he deliberately teased her and continued, "Ruan Chen, if you reject the other three schools, let alone organizing a teaching support program, I can even add a requirement to the practical courses at the First College to make teaching on the deserted island a mandatory course. How about it? Think about it?"

Ruan Chen waved his hand, "There's no need for that. It would have been fine before, but now that my uncle isn't here, I'm just a nobody on Liuli Island. If things get out of hand, I won't be able to control it. If your beloved student loses even a hair, won't you fight me to the death?"

Ruan Chen first mentioned Su Ze.

As she said this, she stared into Nan Jing's eyes, but the old fox was cunning and shrewd, and she didn't reveal a single strange look in her eyes.

Nan Jingming knew what Ruan Chen wanted to ask, but deliberately changed the subject, "Ruan Chen, school starts the day after tomorrow, right? With your intelligence, you shouldn't have much academic pressure. Did Secretary Liu tell you? Our research institute has a project starting next month. Do you want to join it?"

Ruan Chen snorted lightly, "Director Nan, why don't we just talk this out? I've seen the airport's surveillance footage, would you like to see it too?"

"Surveillance? What surveillance? Airport? What airport?" Nan Jing pretended to be clueless.

Ruan Chen had known he was planning this all along. She took out a few photos from her pocket, casually tossed them in front of Nan Jing, and raised her chin. "Nan, it's pointless to keep being stubborn."

"What?!" Nan Jing didn't take it, but glanced at it from afar. "Photoshopped! This is Photoshopped, Ruan Chen, you can't even tell? This Photoshop is pretty rough... damn!"

Nan Jing couldn't hold back any longer. As Ruan Chen pulled something out of his pocket, he took a small step back, his eyes sharp for a moment before regaining their composure.

Ruan Chen threw out Su Ze's number nine license plate, for the Crescent Bay Training Base.

Nan Jing cursed Su Ze in his heart and reached out to take the number plate as if nothing had happened, but Ruan Chen stopped his hand without any politeness. "Director Nan, please give me an explanation."

"Can't you show some respect for your elders? You young people are getting more and more unruly." Nan Jing muttered somewhat guiltily, forcefully pulling his hand away from Ruan Chen's.

Ruan Chen stopped joking with him, her playful expression vanishing. She became serious and respectful, displaying the deference expected of a junior, and even deliberately lowered her stance. "Director Nan, I know this matter concerns you. I need to know how Su Ze is doing. If possible, I hope you can take me to Crescent Bay."

Nan Jing remained silent for a moment, giving the girl in front of him a meaningful look. Suddenly, he realized that Ruan Chen was no longer the somewhat naive little girl she used to be. Back then, she was still figuring out the rules of this world in a daze, but now she could stand on her own and had taken on her own responsibilities.

Nan Jing gestured for Ruan Chen to sit down, and said seriously, "Ruan Chen, what gives you the right to speak to me like this?"

“Su Ze has entrusted me with full responsibility for the affairs of Liuli Island after he leaves.” Ruan Chenping sat down opposite Nan Jing, raising her beautiful eyes to look directly at him.

Nan Jing sighed, inwardly cursing Su Ze for being so irresponsible, but upon closer reflection, it seemed that Su Ze didn't have anyone else he could trust more than Ruan Chen.

It seems that this whole thing is ultimately my fault?

"Make a deal: agree to one condition, and I'll answer three questions for you."

Ruan Chen raised an eyebrow. "Tell me your conditions first."

“Stay away from that Fu family brat.” Nan Jing said abruptly, mentioning a name Ruan Chen had never thought of, and a condition Ruan Chen had never considered.

Ruan Chen didn't react immediately. At first, she wondered if she had misheard, and then asked in surprise, "Jian Zhi... or the Fu family?"

She didn't think too deeply about Fu Jianzhi, but simply assumed that Nan Jing didn't want her to get too close to the Fu family.

But then Nan Jing laughed and waved his hand, lowering his head to drink water to hide his dark and deep eyes. "I was just teasing you. I heard you and the young master of the Fu family have a good relationship. It seems it really is. You got all nervous when I mentioned the young master of the Fu family just now."

"Really?" Ruan Chen was both annoyed and amused. "Nan Suo, let's get down to business."

"What other conditions could I possibly ask of you? I'd be perfectly content if you just came to our research institute from time to time, helped Xiao Liu with some odd jobs, and processed some lab data," Nan Jing said. "Go ahead and ask me three questions."

"When will Su Ze be back?" Ruan Chen asked without hesitation.

Without hesitation, Nan Jing replied, "I assure you, there will be no problem with Su Ze's personal safety."

“I have something very important to discuss with him in person, and I need to go to Crescent Bay. So… where is Crescent Bay?” This was Ruan Chen’s second question.

This time, Nan Jing remained silent.

A few seconds later he said, "Ruan Chen, this question is too confidential. You are not qualified to know the answer to this question yet. Let's choose another one."

Before asking the question, Ruan Chen felt her fingertips were a little cold and her breath was trembling, but she still asked, "Does Crescent Bay have real coordinates?"

Cheng Lu said that Crescent Bay does not exist on the entire planet.

But Ruan Chen did indeed "go there," albeit in a very absurd way.

"Yes." Nan Jing answered the question with absolute certainty.

Ruan Chen shrugged. "I have no problem."

"Then let's leave the third question for now. Ruan Chen, I promise you, two and a half years from now, when you step into the First Military Academy, I will personally give you your first lesson and answer all your questions."

School starts.

Cheng Lu, dressed in a tight leather jacket, personally drove Ruan Chen to the school gate on her motorcycle.

They were quite arrogant.

Since there's free labor available, might as well use it.

Ruan Chen jumped off the car, took off the helmet and returned it to Cheng Lu. With her schoolbag hanging on her wrist, she twisted her body to put on her school uniform while joining the crowd and walking towards the classroom.

Next came the homeroom teacher's address—the Rocket Class had a new homeroom teacher after Zeng Han's incident, who was said to be a veteran teacher specially rehired, named He Liren.

Teacher He was giving a speech about the new semester and its new atmosphere, while Ruan Chen was eating the breakfast that Yu Xiaoya had brought for her.

Teacher He was saying that everyone has grown a year older in the new year, and Ruan Chen was unpacking the gift that Yu Xiaoya had brought her.

Teacher He was explaining that winter break homework shouldn't be done carelessly, while student Ruan Chen was replying to Bo Nian's note, throwing it in an arc.

Teacher He is no longer lecturing.

He pounded on the table. "Ruan Chen, bring your winter break homework up here. I need to see how well you've done it."

He was making an example of them. Teacher He Liren had been teaching for nearly forty years, so he knew that no matter how good these mischievous monkeys' grades were, they would never put their hearts into their winter vacation homework as long as they could get by.

Ruan Chen reached for her schoolbag, her expression stiffening for a moment.

"I...I forgot to bring it."

Teacher He gave a knowing look, but remained friendly and said, "Then please have your family send it over."

Ruan Chen had already remembered; she had left her homework on Liuli Island.

Should family members send it? How should it be sent?
